An obvious scam. They want you to get the money to them before the check clears, which it won't! You, and the company who's name is on the check are victims.

It is useless and morally wrong to attempt to cash a check you suspect as being fraudulent. First of all, it won't clear and your bank will charge you a fee for a returned check. If it somehow falls through the cracks and clears, it's still fraudulent. Your bank will have to return the money and will deduct it from your account. And you will STILL be out the returned check fee.

The proper thing to do is provide copies of what you received to your local post office and your state's attorney general (address easily found on the internet). They will take it from there.

This is NOT evidence stolen identity, btw.

I didn't actually receive a call, I received a letter.  In the letter from G.T.B. Financial Services, it has the name of the claims agent Larry Smith and his phone number (778) 316-1091.  The letter says that I have won $250,000 from the Sweepstakes Association of North America.  It included a check in the amount of $4,870.00 drawn on a Pnc Bank in Jeannette, PA.  It tells me to cash the check and send it to Linda Drew (tax agent) so that she can pay the Non Resident Government Service Tax (GST). The check looks legitimate.  However, I do believe the real PNC Bank capitalizes all the letters in PNC. This prompted me to do a search on the internet.  After a brief review, my suspicions were confirmed. I will follow up with the US postmaster and local authorities.  Good luck.  Don't cash the check if you get one.

Canadian number.  I've received mail with this number written on it.  Sweepstakes.  I've never entered one, seems like a scam.  Letter has 3 different names of contact with the same telephone number.  Linda Baker (tax agent that is supposed to collect the fee), Larry Smith (claims agent), and Larry Smith (promotions manager).
