I just called our own toll free number from my personal cell phone and the caller ID at work showed that I'm calling from this number. Even though this is not my cell phone number.

V is correct.
This is usually from a toll-free number that is routed through this phone number to reach your business line.

I called the us to sign up for an upcoming conference from Canada.
The operator there said my number was coming up
On their call display as the above number.

This number is often used by phone service providers when their customers call toll-free numbers, the providers route the call from that number without replacing the caller ID on the person's who's calling. Lots of people who call toll free numbers, especially from their cell phones will show that they are calling from this number.

This number called me twice in a row and didn't leave a voicemail. Tried calling back but got a Verizon automated message saying that this number is not assigned. When they called it said they were from British Columbia, CAN

I got a call from this number at work and I have noticed they have been calling quite often and it is a different person I speak with everytime. I work at a car dealership so I think its a test number that is recorded. He asked for parts and I had to take a message so I asked him for his phone number and he gave me a 416 long distance number...
