It's called "call blocking"

Oi. Haven't heard that phrase since my parent's generation..."French being jammed down our throats". That generation is in their 90s or their graves now. They were seriously narrow-minded and not at all worldly. I mean who wouldn't want to be able to speak 2, 3, or more languages in today's world.... Much thanks for the global awareness of our young generations!

It's a robo dialler not someone checking to see if you are home.

No one there.   Waited for the background noise of a call center to come on but nothing... Then dead line .  Computer call checking to see when you are home.??
Why is this legal?  It is harassment .

They call alllll the time! Total annoyance, even though I'm on the do not call list. Thank you to the people who answered and reported the call. Some of us can't answer unknown calls for safety reasons, and this is the only way we can find out who it is!

Received a call from above number.  When answering there was no one one the line.  I don't like getting crank calls from a cell #

Polictical message supporting pipelines. Kind of interesting. Big money involved. So why not do it for the kids and more employment! Support prosperity BC!

They just called. Same thing. No one there but silence, even after a ten second wait

I called back this number and requested to be taken off their list. I wait now to see if they continue calling.

Tips to block these nuisance calls:
Star 60 and follow prompts (with Shaw, not sure about other systems).
It might be universal.

No msg left.
I screen calls and did not pick up.

The message on my answering machine is simple, and it works: "don't you just love call display".

Don't answer any calls you don't recognize and they will soon stop.

If you look at the website of BC for Prosperity, they are Northern Gateway supporters. Perhaps they are blocking only those they know NOT to be Enbridge supporters, and since we don't answer blocked numbers, it might end up looking like more people favor the Northern Pipeline than is really so.

Called 13:19 no message; just hung up on answering machine.

Just received call from this #.  Don't answer calls when I don't know number.  No message left.  Half hour ago had a call from another #, again no message.  I'm thinking about keeping a diary of all the unwanted phone calls I get and taking the list to my MLA.  I am also on "Do Not Call List."  I am completely fed up with these calls!!!

I heard some heavy breathing and some funny squeaking noises like bed springs. Asked if I wanted some free candy. It may be a scam.

Called after 8:00pm last night, doesn't leaves message.  Annoying!

They came through on call waiting, I checked & they didn't leave a message.  I am just fed up with unsolicited calls.  

I am so sick of this person calling and not talking there must be a way to stop them .

another scammer for PM Steven Harper(R) oil pipelines. His $10,000 investment(insider trading) stands to quadruple on approval.
Did you know that his RCMP are being sued for illegal spying on the people who protest the pipeline? The police could do their duty and arrest BC's Premiere for election fraud instead.

only the country of Quebec(and their dads in France) speaks that dead language. Spanish would be a good choice, with Lots of places to use it.

Another bloody call when I am registered on the Do Not Call list - which they seem to ignore, just like they do in their political decisions.

We are on the No Call list, registered with the Canadian Gov. ! No Calls Wanted Here ! I don't appreciate the call from 778-655-1699 and it not having anything happening ! perfect timing too ! The call is from "British Columbians for Prosperity", which is pretty much a bunch of cheerleaders for the oil companies that want to put in the pipeline.

I wasn't paying too much attention to this stuff before, but thanks for the wake up call, now I'm going to support the anti-pipeline people just because they've never harrassed me with robo-dialer calls.

- Rickroll them over the phone, let's flood their voicemail!
