This number is displayed for any of the hundreds (or thousands?) of phones at the SFU Burnaby Mountain Campus. It is the general number of the SFU BM switchboard. If any professor, student, staff, or visitor to the campus uses one of their phones to call you, this number will be displayed. If they call to solicit you as a past alumni, I am sure you would have success in asking that they stop. If you never pick up, you will never know if maybe it is someone else at SFU who is trying to reach you - though I suppose almost anyone else would leave you a message.

They call me literally every single day, including weekends but I don't pick up. Wooo, call display! Yes, they're here to solicit donations. So that people like me, who were eligible for student aid due to low income, but turned it down so I could pay my way through old fashioned sweat 'n tears - can now fund others who want the "free birdseed in hand" from alumni.

Why would they not use email systems?
Regular hours from 9am to 5pm, most likely people are at work during weekdays.
The number is like my alarm clock now, everyday bewtween 3:45pm to 4:15pm, the phone rings.

Got a call just now and I couldn't pick up cause I was in Seattle and didn't want the charge. Found this site and answered my question. This site rocks!!!

I just received a call from this number, I am also currently an SFU grad student. I didn't pick it up.

Every call originating from SFU shows this number. It is not restricted to a particular department.

Got a call on my cell phone on Sunday afternoon, Oct 2011.  Did not answer.

SFU just never and ever top calling people who had already donated. They kept calling me like twice a day. This starts getting annoying. Sigh!

From SFU. Asking to update their Alumni contact information and then leading to a request for donation.   If number is used for other purposes as suggested by above, then I guess I can't call block it.

It's not a donation line, though it could be used for that. It's also a number that is displayed on many other kinds of outbound calls from SFU, particularly the Continuing Studies program. I received a call from this number that was desirable and important (as a student).

It's "Donation" calling time... so they're just calling to see which SFU Graduates will donate.

they call me every night, two times a night. rarely do they miss a day?   i've only taken a continuing education course before; not even an alumni.  this is terrible to be bombarded by these calls every night for a least a month now.  if they are that annoying, why would i even consider donating?  at least ubc only calls me every 3 months, gives up and then mails me stuff.  people give out of the kindness of their heart, not because they are so  annoyed and want to get you off their backs so they give.  that's not giving wt a grateful attitude of what the school offered them.

if it's the alumni association, feel free to donate if you want to.  I designate gifts to student grants and bursaries, because I once got one when I was an SFU student -- completely unexpectedly -- and although it wasn't a huge amount it was really a significant blessing.  I am able to bless other students by donating. And tax benefits help me, too.21

I just got a call from this number this morning at 5:45AM!?!? I didn't pick it up in time - but they did leave a message saying "Hi ___, this is Mike from SFU. Can you please call me back. "

I don't know a Mike from SFU and I didn't even go to SFU - not sure how they got my number or why they are calling me. And seriously - who calls that early in the morning!?! How annoying. Let's just hope they don't call again.

For the last three nights I've got calls from this number around 6:30/7:30 (When the general SFU offices are already closed). I graduated a few years back from here, and occasionally get calls on the main house line for alumn donations, but every night a call from them to my cell phone is pretty excessive.

This is the general # for SFU...This number will displays if anyone uses an SFU phone and calls outside the campus.

It is the alumni association wanting money.

Got a call today but there was nobody on the line. Googled their phone number to Simon Fraser University, which I did in fact go to for graduate school a few years ago. Odd.
