When I try to return call just rings busy. Further investigation came up with Telemarketers of course.

He called me at work asking for the "lady of the house" so I thought he was looking for my boss' wife, it happens all the time. When I asked if he had their home number he just said "no I'll just hang up now."

made a formal complaint to the DNC people

Called at 1030 this morning, then again at 12:06 and AGAIN at 2:58. No messages.. I have told them at least three times that I will not respond and am not interested.  Next stop- CRTC, I guess. Name comes up as "GT GROUP TELECOM SERVICES CORP"  Interweb tells me this:

Appears to be a phone bank operation (sweat shop?) employing mainly "New Canadians" who are working in English as a 2nd language and who seem to have to meet a daily quota in order to keep their jobs.  If I could only get a street address I might pass the complaint on to the WCB about working conditions and see if that has any more effect than being in the don't call list....

When I answered nobody was there.

this number left a message today saying "stop crying, ..."  not sure what the last word is.

Decided to answer it and it was a "short consumer questionairre about air quality" asking if we have anyone who smokes, anyone with asthma, how long we lived here and do we rent or own.

Called asking for the lady of the house.  Call every few days, never leave a message.

In additon to my above post - the caller ID stated out of area

I received a phone call from "SPT" today. After asked a few questions I asked what is this for? The guy stated it was for air research in _______(and stated my city). I asked what the name of the company was and he stated SPT and that they are located in Manila. I asked what it stands for because companies aren't just called by initials unless you are a very well known company. He said it doesn't stand for anything just the company. I said who asks for you to do research? He said the owner in which I asked who it was. He said Steve, long pause, Steve Caesar. I said "STEVE CAESAR?? Sounds like you just made that up". He says, No ma'am Steve Caesar Thomas. At which I replied, oh now his name is Steve Caesar Thomas?? He said yes then said if you don't mind continuing the survey I have a valuable prize you may be eligible to win can I reach you at XXX-XXX-XXXX if you win? And I said no to remove me from their calling list as I was part of the no call registry and that I was going to report them!! At which point (surprise) he hung up.

BEWARE of these calls.
The scam is to have you answer the survey and then to call you back, note that you win a prize for taking part and then get you bank account information.
The call I received noted it was an "Air Quality Research Survey". The caller noted that the company doing the research was SPL and the call was from 220-1011 but the caller gave me the number of 778-785-4549 when I asked for a phone number to call back and verify the survey.
I was asked the following questions
- anyone in my household that smoked
- any asthma or allergies in my household
- any animals (dogs, cats, birds)
- how long I lived in my current house
- the category of work that I did (to assess occupational exposure)
- whether I worked full-time or part-time
- the category of work that my spouse did
- my name (to verify the call to her supervisor)

I have called my local RCMP, updated the local Lung Association (as they are named in the Alberta scam) and emailed phonebusters.com.

I have been getting a ton of calls from this number lately. I finally answered today and I wasn't even asked to complete the survey the woman (with a foreign accent) just began asking me questions "Am I the lady of the house?" "Does anyone in your home smoke?" I just said I didn't want to participate and hung up. How do you get removed from the calling list? It's annoying to keep being called!

I keep getting this call on all three of our lines (all are registered with the DNC list!). I have repeatedly reported them but the DNC people have never contacted me to confirm my report or let me know anything was done about it. The DNC list is a total joke.

It was the same woman each time, foreign accent, quite rude so we gave her a taste of her own medicine ;)

best way to get rid of them is tell them you have been on welfare for 10 years, your dog died...and well you get the picture. or pretend you dont speak english. its fun.cheers.

when they call just tell them what they dont want to hear...you have been on welfare for 10 years, your dog died, you get the picture...its actually fun to play the game.lol. i once pretended i couldnt speak english. why not just outsmart them. cheers

i have too received several calls from this number, Asking me if i smoke didn't know my name called my cell phone asked him how did you get my number 5 times no good answer....

Just received another call to my cell phone from this 778 number this afternoon. No message left.
I answered a call from this number last week thinking since they were calling my cell phone, it most likely was someone I knew perhaps calling from a different line. Nope, I was really wrong.
The guy on the line had a thick accent and first asked to speak to the 'man of the house or the person who makes the decisions'. WTF.
I immediately told the guy on the line to remove my number, and any other contact information, of their calling lists then hung up. Obviously, they did not comply.

get 3 calls/day from this number and now starting to show as "out of area 604-629-7983". first time they identified themselves from "SPT".  Finally answered their survey questions a few days ago and got another call from them saying I won a prize and could i give them my home address so they could deliver it. i said i don't want a prize, how many people get one? and she said "10 a day".  then i asked what company she called from and she said "Advanced Air".  I asked why they said they were "SPT" the last time and she said they were affiliates.  i said I will give you an office address and they said no, we need to make sure it is delivered to the exact person we phoned.  
when i said "my gut tells me not to take anything from you" she said "ok, bye".

yeah im getting same thing call 4 times today LEAVE ME ALONE was out when they called ... but the name display was a letter and a bunch of number ...man these scamers need to get a LIFE

I was sleeping when she called my cell I answered the questions, all groggy.  Didnt care but ya asking about my husband and myself, what setting we work in, full time p/t? Do we own our house or rent, do we have pets.
Like what the hell do you care? are you planning on robbing me while I'm at work or something?

I get calls from 778-785-4549 everyday. Finally tonight I was able to activate a call block feature from my phone. You call "*60" and then a menu will help walk you through how to block this number, at least for me with Shaw digital phone...hope this helps someone get these people off their backs in time for the holiday! :)

Oh and by the way people, "foreign" is good enough unless you are experts in accents....getting kind of racist here, my partner is Mexican.

The telemarketers are a nuisance. I used to constantly receive calls from Ontario. In the end I decided to answer one and say my piece... something to words of:

"Are you a telemarker? Well get a real job you looser - f*** off! and stop wsting my time"..or something to that effect. I received one more call from the number again, I ignoired it and then they all stopped. Yeeee-haaaa! What a bunch of nuisance loosers who can't get a real job.

Very brave of you to file a complaint.  Did you read the fine print on the CRTC webform?  When you click submit, you agree to allow CRTC to give your name, email, home address, (your version of) the circumstances of the call, etc.. to the telemarketer.

What a marvelous marketing tool!  Thanks CRTC.  What would phone scammers do without you!

I just got this call and on my CELL! How would they get my number. Randomly? I didn't answer and now it sounds like I'm in for a lot more calls?! I should be able to block this number if it becomes a problem.
