310-8682 - I recently subscribed to Anonymous Caller ID as well as Call Screen and Call Return to get to the bottom of the problem we have with the "Windows Scam" and "Telemarketers" who simply don't listen to customers who ask to be removed from their phone lists.
If you see the number on your phone you know your Anony Caller ID/blocking feature is working. Legitimate callers will leave a legitimate message so no need to stress.
Since the Phone company writes pages and pages on how to stop these callers and comes up with more and more features that rob you and me of your hard earned dollar by forcing us to subscribe to features that simply would not be needed if the phone company actually worked together with the police and their own legal department to put an end to telemarketing scams. Until then, simply ask them to give you the feature for free for a few months (they can give you a discount) if you have been harassed for more than 2 years by the same callers. After 6 months of getting a blocked number, hopefully the harassers will give up.

My call said it was a call from the north and if wanted to accepted the call press the # key. I did and then I was told the caller was no longer there. My guess it was another telephone marketing scam calling.

the number did not display an area code-an east indian voice (obviously calling from a call centre in India) said he was calling about my microsoft windows-told him l have had this call before-to stop calling me and then l hung up-l will now block that number both on my phone and through telus call block. Getting so tired of unwanted calls.

I've been getting these calls also. I do have the Anonymous Block on my phone, so I know bye the feature of this service alone, that the call is from someone I do not know.
I answered the first time, and of course the person has to say their name for me to accept. Sorry, I didn't pay enough attention to the name. I just hung up.

If you are subscribed to TELUS and you have the calling feature Anonymous caller ID and get a call that shows up on your call display as "ANONYMCALLERID' and the number displaying as 310 8682, it's because the caller is calling 'UNKNOWN' or 'OUT OF AREA' so the callers are prompted to state their name. Once their name has been stated, the call is directed to the subscriber's line. The subscriber can answer the call or allow the call to go to voice mail or a network announcement. PRIVATE and UNKNOWN callers who do not state their name when prompted will be disconnected.

It's a government number. Or in my case it was a collect call from a correctional facility.

anonymous Caller ID - TELUS ---
What your screen displays when you receive an anonymous call --
Private callers are given the option to unblock their number by pressing 1 or record their name by pressing 2. If your caller chooses to unblock his or her number, your Call Display screen will display "AnonymUnblocked" and the calling number. If your caller chooses to state his or her name, the Call Display screen will display "Anonym CallerID" and the number will appear as 310-8682. You then have the option to answer the call or allow it to go to voicemail. Private and unknown callers who don't state their names when prompted will be disconnected.

OK so I did a bit more research and found that 310-8682 is a number maintained by Telus that allows you to maintain your Anonymous Caller ID priority caller authorization list, if you happen to subscribe to that service.
http://www.telus.com/portalWeb/inlineLink/CP_ ... rms/?_region=AB
If the service is turned on, Private Callers will be given the option to unblock their number or record their name. If the caller decides to record his name, you will see the following on your call display.
Name: "Anonym CallerID"
Number: 310-8682
You're supposed to pick up the phone to hear the person's name; you can then decide whether or not you will accept the call.

yes, this number calls and doesn't leave a message. I don't answer anyway. Why does telus do this to us? I'm unlisted, no one has that number - that's why I don't answer, I know it's not for me.
