I didnt Answer.  Called from Alberta Canada

Got mine in Spanish, translated to: "Since your a valuble AT&T customer we are happy to".......I hung up. Don't like recorded sales messages especially during dinner. 17:34 CDT

Not sure if I just made matters worse or not, I phoned the customer service number in ScubaNut's comment and asked the fellow to add me to the do not call list.  He was nice enough, said he would.  Huh.  Probably not that easy eh?

This call does not originate from the Leduc/St. Albert number.  

Its what is known as a "spoof" and if you do respond to it in any fashion, which includes having your voicemail pick up, then the scammers, have confirmation that your number is valid.  What they will sometimes do is use your valid number, spoofed of course, to do a new dial-out to another province/state when the number they've been using becomes known on sites like this.

Some things to remember:  
If you don't recognize the area code - don't answer.
If you haven't actually bought a "lottery" ticket from a reputable organization such as a Children's Hospital or Cancer Research fund:  How can you have won anything?
Legitimate busness callers will always show up on your call display as the company name, and in this day and age of pesronal information privacy, being contacted directly by a business that you haven't initiated a "callback" from, is almost unheard of.

Have recieved several annoying calss from this number now. I call it a scam since I never entered any contest or even have air-miles plan and/or card.

Alberta.....reverse look up to John Wheatly.....answered but no response

they called me at work, waited through the recording and a fellow answered asking to confirm if I was of age and eligible, I demanded to know who it was they hung up.

said they were airmiles and I won 25,000 pts

I TOO GOT ONE AT WORK- NUMBER IS REGISTERED TO A JOHN WHEATLY IN LEDUC- TRIED TO PHONE BACK- NO ANSWER- NOT EVEN A DIALTONE. I WAS THE WINNER OF 250,000

This is a known vacation marketing company that is doing this.  Here's the info I was able to get after stringing them along (for the SECOND TIME in as many months):
Sunset World - Parent company representing 4 or 5 different RCI vacation resorts.  
Vacation packages are sold under the company names: Tropical Travel or Paradise Destination.
One of the managers: Robert Hanson
The 'deal' : They legitamitely appear to sell vacation packages. You do NOT receive ANY reward miles - you get a "discount" off the package price (but only if you buy during that call). So while this truly may not qualify as a scam, it is misleading & damned annoying.

On a completely separate topic - did you know that each call to a toll free number costs you nothing, but costs the company at the other end $$/call.
