I have relatives living in Ma. Thought this might be about them... Nope. I should have just let it go to voicemail.

My boss just received a call from this number. Called ID says 'Unknown' (how convenient).
It sounded like they mistake our business for a Doctor's office. That isn't even close to what we do here!
No idea who the caller was, but this is the second time this has happened recently. Regardless of who the caller is, they obviously have bad information and don't take the hint that we are not who they think.

My 16 yr old gets calls from this number weekly. I asked the guy to call back after 3 and he said no he could hold so I could take a message and I told him no he could call back and I hung up. Then he called right back so I let my 2 yr old answer and then I hung up, Then he called right back again so I asked him what he was doing calling my 16 yr old and that he was acting immature when I told him to call back after 3 and he kept calling like a baby. He again stated he would wait for me to take a message and I basically told him to screw off I wasnt going to take no message and I hung up. My question is, can he legally continue calling me now that i have informed him he is harrassing a 16 yr old? One GREAT WAY to kill a company is by using these marketing techniques! Especially in this day and age of Networking!

I never signed up for their telemarketing calls. I never signed ANYTHING saying they could call me. I went to a conference where they were, and they probably got my name from the conference.
I've gotten 4 of these harassing phonecalls so far in the last 2 weeks. COME ON!
This is call spam. I've got screenshots of my Google Voice to prove it.
Here's my blog post about it:

They are an unethical company. If you write one blog post that suggests that their workshops are merely sales pitches, suddenly they will NOT LEAVE YOU ALONE!

Call was from Constant Contact (makers of online email/newsletter software). I just signed up for a free trial and the call was from a CSR assigned to help me figure out how to use it and design new templates, etc. Amazing attention from a corporation to someone doing a free 60 day trial! Who would have thought it??

Yes no panics, it is Constant Contact, a great product, I think I will use it after free trial, only a pity it's in the States not UK

Yuhp, Constant Contact
Elizabeth 2011-06-06 20:57:06 Unknown
Constant Contact - Constant is right! Pushy salespeople who call every day when you are signed up for their free trial. Should realize that I will buy it if I need it but dont need to hear from you every day - that will turn me off and keep me from purchasing.
Constant Contact is Telephone Spamming 2011-06-06 20:57:06 Unknown
It appears that Constant Contact is up to their dirty marketing tricks again, however now they've taken it to a whole new level. They are now TELEPHONE SPAMMING people! The Constant Contact phone calls are quite annoying.
Recently I signed up for a "free" tutorial webinar they offer, which required me to enter my phone number. Since then, they have telephone spammed me three times. The first call was a hang up when they got my voicemail, and on the subsequent calls the guy leaves a voicemail.
In each message he says he just wants to follow up with me regarding the webinar I attended (which is really just a cover-up excuse to call me to promote their service and possibly get me to subscribe.)
In the voicemail the man also says he doesn't know whether or not I'm currently a member or trial member or not, but that if I'm not, I should sign up for their trial.
This kind of crap is so annoying and such a waste of my time to even listen to the voicemails. I used to respect this company and even recommend them to my clients, but with this kind of skeezy marketing/sales tactics, I will likely go back to recommending Aweber instead.
I'm sure someone from Constant Contact will respond and say "well, you can always contact us and request to have your phone number removed, or put on your do not call list." Well, that's also unacceptable. I shouldn't HAVE to contact them and ask them not to telephone spam me; they shouldn't be doing it to me in the first place.
I know legally they are allowed to because I gave them my phone number and I'm sure in their "terms and conditions/agreement/fine print" it said they are allowed to call me. That's not the point; just because it's legal, doesn't mean it's ethical.
They really need to stop this type of unethical marketing. Not only does it make them look desperate and sketchy, it builds ill will with potential customers.
I was seriously considering subscribing to their service before this (that's why I joined their free tutorial webinar,) but now I'm not so sure. It's not that the product/service they provide is bad, it's just that I'm not sure I want to do business with, or support a company that engages in this kind of marketing methods. And just because others are doing it, also doesn't make it right.
Please pass this information on to as many people in forums and social networks as you can, to warn them about this abusive practice of Constant Contact.

and don't be fooled by the posts saying how amazing it is that a company would pay such good attention to their potential customers. It's very possible those posts were written by Constant Contact themselves (or possibly by an online reputation management company they may have hired to respond to messages about their company/brand online.)
James 2011-06-06 20:57:06 Unknown
actually, it is not spamming nor telemarketing if you provide them with your name and number and by attending the webinar you agreed to be contaced. According to the can spam act what they are doing is both legal and ethical.
If you cant handle 3 phone calls after getting good free advice then you should have just picked up the phone the first time they called....

calls and hang up, good thing I guess... ;)
Leslie 2011-06-06 20:57:06 Unknown
Sweet! I just signed up for Constant Contact yesterday and am loving it - I heard my phone ring and googled the unknown number - at the same time they sent me an email from my account rep. I'm glad that you guys had already posted so I knew who it was.
Leslie 2011-06-06 20:57:06 Unknown
Agreed. One doesn't get something for free - and 3 phone calls is not outrageous as a follow up (unless it was all in the same day) - if all they did was 3 phone calls and didn't call back then they are ethical - all companies are going to follow up with potential customers - its how they get customers. I just got my first call from them - I signed up for the free 60 day trial - I'm already in love and plan to purchase (but I'm using up my full 60 day trial - gotta save money!) to use this for my church's newsletters.
Now a month from now I may be singing a different song - If I do end up with issues with them I will try to remember to update saying so.

Wow...a little intense...don't sign up your phone number if you don't want calls! This is a great marketing tool for small business owners and they are very attentive to their clients. They have so much to offer with lists, emails, and marketing ideas!
anonymous 2011-06-06 20:57:06 Unknown
I wrote the anonymous quote and I am not an employee of the company! Again...if you don't want calls, don't sign up your phone number!
