calls and no one is there when you answer!!

Got a call. No message was left.

8/29/08, 10:30 AM, received recorded robot call from female voice:  "Don't be alarmed, but this is your last chance to take advantage of the lower interest rates..."  At that point I hung up.  Caller ID said (786)-336-8148, Miami, FL.

We are on the do not call list.

They have been calling every day lately without leaving messages. I tried speaking once with a rep when I answered the phone, but they hung up immediately. Second time I answered I played along for a while to get a better understanding of who's calling. Claim to be from visa/mastercard but didn't know my name. Wanted to know account balances.
I'm sure this is a phishing scam, but don't know how to report it properly.
Yes, I'm on the National Do Not Call registry.

CHEEEEEEEEEESE ball company.  They say they want to lower your debt, but they won't even give you company information until you are "verified".  Please tell me that people don't give out credit information to people over the phone without even knowing who they are.  I was just wanting the name so I could report them to the do-not call list, so I acted like I was interested if they would just give me THEIR info first.  They would NOT do it.  Even at the risk of losing business, they refused to give me their info.

I recieved a call from this number stating that I qualifeid for a lower interest rate. I pressed 1 and and a reprsentitive answered and said I qualified for a lowered interest rate on my Visa and MC. I questioned them as to which account and they said Visa and MC. I once again said which visa and MC account are you talking about and they hung up.

I would receive calls from this number often yet everytime I picked up, no one would answer.

Call about noon today. Something about credit cards? They all blend in now - 5-6/day lately. Pressed 1 and started to complain and guy hung up immediately. Pressed *69 to get number, then searched google and here I am.

Reason I am not on National Do Not Call List is because I pressed *69 about a year ago after similar call, got number (most times don't) and it was the number for registering on the National Do Not Call List. By coincidence, that very day NPR had a program about the NDNC List and I learned that federal government gets per name fees for telemarketers who are required to buy that list! I think U.S. feds are calling us or urging telemarketers to call so we get bugged enough to sign up, and then more money for federal government. I reported this to NPR with no response.

I did so and when the person answered I asked "what account?" and they just hung up.

I am on the "Do Not Call" list, so WHY do they waste their time and mine with their garbage?

Showed on caller id as UNKNOWN.  Gave the recorded voice "Don't be alarmed! This is your final notice to receive a lower interest rate on your existing credit card.  Press 1 to speak to your account manager."  When I pressed 1, the girl that answered launched into her spiel.  I asked her what card company she represented and she said "all Mastercard and VISA cards".  When I confirmed that she did not represent a company with who I had an account, she just hung up.  At best this is a boiler room operation attempting to sell lower-rate credit cards; at worst, this is an attempt toward identity theft and fraud.

grrr.  phone rings.  miami, fl caller ID.   recorded voice.  "Don't be alarmed!  This is your final notice!!  Press 1 to speak to your account manager!!"

so I push 1 and leave it on speaker during really loud annoying guitar music

finally somebody answers, says something not in English, and hangs up

Offered to lower my credit card interest to 6.9%. I kept asking which card and he kept asking for my name. He finally asked if I had a card under 8.9% and I said I did (I really do) and he hung up.

Just *69'ed the number...they had asked for my auto make and model and said I was "eligible for a great new rate on an extended warranty." I pressed one and told the rep that I wanted off their call list and to end the harassing calls. She hung up on me mid-sentence.

The number came up as disconnected when I hit the callback.

When I pressed 1 to talk to a rep, they claimed to be Wachovia.  I'll be calling Wachovia to make them aware of this, since from everything I've read (at this site and others) I really doubt it was them.

Call was from a voice recording that stated I qualified for a "lower interest rate on my credit card as low as 5.99% and to press 1 to be transfered to rep". I didn't do anything because my credit card company is a lot more professional than that. Figured it was a fraud call. Beware, don't give any private information.

I got a call from this number, no message left. Very strange. If people go to the trouble of dialing you should at least leave a number

If everyone would wise up and no one ever gave out information, seems it would be pointless for them to call.  However, there is always someone that will gladly give anyone calling their name, date of birth, social security and credit card numbers...... sad.

According to caller ID, call came in at 3:54 p.m. on 9/8/08. I was not home. Caller did not leave a message. I am on the National Do No Call list.

I get soooo many calls from numbers unknown, or rather listed by the city and state with the phone number.  When I call the numbers back, they ALWAYS say the number is not longer in service.  How is it that I call a number back that came to me within 30 seconds, and it is out of service.

I get calls constantly and I'm on the do not call list!

Play the game with them & have some fun.  When you get a living body on the other end, ask them what they want from you.  You know they want to lower your interst rates and you know it's a scam, so be creative and have some fun.  Let them know that you're on the "Do-Not-Call List" and they better stop calling you before you press for charges.

I had a missed call from this number - when I called it back, it gave me a disconnected or no longer in service message. hmm.

Search Wikipedia for it...if you download the disconnect tones and put them on the beginning of your answering machine, the autocall systems will assume it has a bad number and quit calling you.

a call to lower your credit card interest.  I press one to get a live person.  I asked what credit card they were call about:  my visa-mastercard- or discover.  she said visa and mastercard.  i said funny I don't have credit cards.  she called me stupid and hung up.......i really get tired of unwanted calls.  i'm registered on national and state do not call list.  i get 10 to 15 per day.

i got sick of ignoring the stupid message over/over/over so i pressed one. they just want personal info - your name, CredCrd name+#s, other loan info. if you ask not to call back...they call back anyway
