the calls are from an unknown source within the uk. scams also involve people answering to jobs apartments or other ads online. you leave a phone number waiting for a response they write a letter thats seemingly polite and offer to send you a check that you have to cash. they say keep a portion for the ad you inquired about and western union the rest to some other person. you are then informed that the check you are attempting to cash is a fake. you are either picked up by the police or warned. they then continue to call your home wanting the money. beware of craigslist, kijiji, and other online job and rental ads.
