Got a call on Sept 18th at 9/18. We are on the DO NOT CALL LIST.
San 2013-09-18 18:27:02 Unknown
and when trying to call them back to have me removed from list that number doesn't work. i hate these people!
san 2013-09-18 18:25:38 Unknown
they said they were from Turn Key Automotive and asked me how things were with my van. I said great. And then hung up. This was literally right after I hung up on a guy claiming to be a Microsoft Technician, also a scam call. I think I am going to get rid of my phone or just never answer again unless i know who it is.

Trying to sell car warranties. Given that (1) the number on caller ID is spoofed and (2) they call people on the DNC list with whom they have no prior business relationship, and (3) they don't take numbers off of their call list when requested, they cannot be reputable as all three of these are violations of the law. Who the heck would want to do business with a random caller that so openly breaks laws? Given their demonstrated lack of ethics, I would expect that their warranties are worthless should you buy one and try to make a claim on it and worse yet, now you've given your cc# to criminals.
Ringing Ears 2013-09-17 17:52:41 Unknown
Called when I was out; no message left. Given how persistent many of these telemarketers are, I will probably know soon who it is!
thirteen 2013-09-14 14:52:21 Unknown
The number is obviously phony; no phone number starts with 008. Caller ID says Unavailable. Searching around the net reveals that this is a boiler-room operation trying to sell extended warranties for cars and trucks to people whose original warranties are about to expire. They must be getting these names and numbers from the warranty holders, as they have the VIN numbers and other information. In my case, I did not buy an extended warranty when I bought my Tacoma, so perhaps they're getting this info from the dealers somehow. (I paid cash, so no bank was involved.)
PaulP 2013-09-13 23:41:14 Unknown
You call back to ask them to take your number off their list.
cass 2013-09-11 23:02:10 Unknown
three calls today--no one there when I p/up--would like to be able to tell them to go away--I understand most all these people keep calling until someone answers--apparently that's not the case
pgarg9 2013-09-11 16:21:59 Unknown
stop calling me....On dnc list
ed 2013-09-11 12:20:09 Unknown
Why would you want to call the number back? If they didn't leave a message, then it obviously is not important. I get anywhere from 3 to 20 calls a week, for anybody and everybody, collecting for one debt or another. Legitimate collection agencies will leave a message. If they do, I will call them back and tell them it's a wrong number. If there is no message, it's a scam. None of these calls are for me. I have caller ID for one reason.....So I do NOT answer calls I do not want. Why would I want to call them back???

I disagree with the people complaining about the "nobody-on-the-line" reports. It's still useful to know that multiple people are receiving these calls. If it were a legitimate business, it would be unlikely to appear in the 800notes site. If the number does appear on this site, especially with multiple pages associated with it, we immediately know we don't have to follow up further on returning the call.
I just received a call from this number (which is probably spoofed given the very unlikely phone number under caller ID), and it's nice to confirm that others are receiving the same thing. Keep on reporting! ...here and at the FTC/FCC DNC complaint site.

Just got a call from 800-008-1000 about extended warranty on my car. This has been happening for several weeks with different numbers. I say I no longer have the car. Take my name off your list. (by this time, they have hung up.) I am on DNC list.

For extending the warranty on our car. told her not interested after she said they had sent corres. That should give them the hint we dont want it.

If you have the notion that a person is actully on the phone say, in a breatless voice, " It's done but theres blood everywhere.'
Hang up.

We get this call tons of times. They have to do with a vehicle warranty thing. Odd thing is- they keep calling about a vehicle we have not owned in years. They've bee ntold to remove us from their list and everything else- doesn't work though. I say, as annoying as they are (yes, I'm on the dnc list too) to just ignorethem as much as possible.
L Liz 2013-08-29 16:50:25 Unknown
It is a sales number trying to sell you an extended warrenty on your car. I asked to be taken off the list, told them I'm registered with do not call...but they called again.

Answered a call from this number today. When a young man asked me if Mr. "So and So" was available and I said that he wasn't the man immediately hung up on me. Rudeness at it's height.
Clifford McKinstry 2013-08-26 20:21:45 Telemarketer
Best thing is to answer, if they ask by name, tell them "no one here by that name", if they ask if you own a certain car say "no I sold it several years ago (or months,or weeks, whatever". That is no guarantee they will not keep calling, but it is a start! Another thing that works SOMETIMES is to dial *77# that will block the number sometimes, but nothing is certain anymore!!!

Received a call about the warranty on my Honda. Made me laugh bc the woman was trying to make it was like she was with Honda. I asked her to twice to clarify who she was with and she got mad a hung up.
peg 2013-08-21 22:47:24 Unknown
Actually just knowing that bunches of people are receiving calls from this number is helpful. It lets others know that scammers/telemarketers are calling...I don't have to know WHAT they're selling to know it's a number I need to block.

This same number called today and since I don't reconize the phone number, I let it go to VM and apparently, there are not that intelligence, as they asked my VM if I am still there. This number came across my Caller ID as "Unknown" 800-008-1000 and no message was left.
deb 2013-08-20 19:52:52 Unknown
No do not pick the phone up, it is a active number they have and will continue to call, if you don't recognize the number let it go, and it also seems strange the 800 number started with a 008
Tom 2013-08-19 19:12:56 Unknown
It simply means the call was placed using a "v dialer" (robodialer) 8=August followed by the date (you got the call last Saturday) followed by the military time from which the call was placed 1144Am and 19 seconds and the sequence of the call-they had placed 68 calls from this dialer. It has nothing to do with Verizon--only the calling party. Hope this helps! Plus the 800 number is spoofed (falsified).

These are all good ideas, but lately, I guess because people are blocking all "unknown callers" through phone company, the scammers are now adding bogus names where "unavailable" originally appeared, names such as : Mollys Bakery, Kens Automotive, Marys Gym, and Bogus College names. The names are kind of a dead give away to us but it allows the calls to come through where any of us have programmed our phones to reject "unavailable" or 'anonymous" callers.
It is just so difficult to have to keep two steps ahead of these scammers.
helpplease 2013-08-19 18:55:02 Unknown
when they called me it was the number : V81711441900068
Does anyone know what these additional numbers are? The actual phone number was 800-008-1000
Could this other number be a tracking number for Verizon??
I see this type of code with phone numbers a few times a month, but I am curious as to what it may mean.

Thank you, it is so fustrating when you try and research a number calling and all you read is, "I dont answer strange numbers", or "a hang up", but the "I dont answer strange numbers" really gets me, so if you research the number that is calling, get info helpful to you, please just dont write things must of us do ourselves, this forum is to exchange info not to log in that you have been called.
Another big thing is when people type all in caps "stop calling me" or "I am on the DNC", we all would love if thats how easy it is to stop callers, but READ the mission statement of 800notes, before you start writing as if we are the people calling. These scammers could care less what list you are on, they are breaking multiple serious laws, so not adhering to the DNC is probably a good deed to these criminals. Please forgive typos grammar......

Very annoying do not know who this is. We are on the do not call list. We do not want to buy anything from some place that does not show up in the caller ID
8000081000 2013-08-16 21:25:48 Unknown
8000081000 called. I answered. Nothing but silence. I hung up. End of the story, for now from what I have read here! We will see.....
