I just got a call from this number.  One earlier today I missed.  So I picked up to find out who it was.  It came through as Private.  Some Indian sounding woman said her name and that she was with Oracle. (I should have made her spell it) She said something like I had done some research, and was I able to find everything I needed.  It was just wierd.  She asked me again if I worked at <my company> and what products we licensed?  Total change of topic.  Then I started to get pissed off.  I knew this person was not with Oracle, and it just rubbed me the wrong way.  


Next time I get a call from an 800 number that ID's as Private, I will submit the phone number to Oracle.  I will also ask them who they work for, and why they are lying.

I'm just not too smart on the phone sometimes.  I'm thinking she got my name from LinkedIn or something.  But I am wondering what the angle is.  What are they really trying to find out.  Maybe they are trying to pull some shady crap like they know me or something.  It's just pissing me off I can't figure out what their take is.  What is the angle?

I got a call from 1-800-009-7654 and a guy with a heavy accent said he was from Oracle. He asked if I was from (and named my workplace) and ended his question with "...in the U.S.?" Those last 3 words clued me in that this guy might be calling from overseas. At this point, I responded 'no' to his question and he ended the call politely.

Pushy call from someone saying he is from Oracle and needs to understand our business needs.  Told him I am not in the dept to manage those services (used to be).  He wouldn't take no for an answer.  Told him we already deal with several acct managers from Oracle.  He said he could be another.  He asked for contact names within our company.  I did not give him any and questioned why if he is from Oracle, the maker of a leading CRM solution, that he didn't know who from his company dealt with us.  I repeated I am not in a dept that would deal with this but he persisted.  I refered him to his CRM dept and hung up.
