Debt Collector
I guess I am in the same boat like you guys, this person did exactly the same but in my case I ask questions about who they were, and info about the alleged debt that I owe. She wants me to compromise and admit or to say "yes" that I was going to make a payment or payments arrangements to pay the debt, I denied such thing and never compromise. I even told them that the company I was supposedly owing did not show in my credit report and never has! she then said I was lucky, and she has the power to put back on the credit report!!! hahaha I told her that I was not comfortable with the whole scenario given, and I will call her back. Right after I hang up the phone I called equifax and ask for advice, they told me the they don't posses any rights to put back any past due amounts on old accts to your credit report none the less after so many years has pass.

Swanson is completely correct.  Ignore them.  If this person (these persons) are calling you it is for a debt that is beyond the statute of limitations.  They know this, and you will NEVER receive anything. They will, however, try to harrass you through others, which is a violation of federal laws for debt collection and opens them up to thousands of dollars (tens, even hundreds) in damages.

Debt Collector
There is no Mr. Taylor. It is a bogus name he uses. His company, claimed to be Recovery Services, is bogus. There are dozens of Recovery Services across the country, when searched, but not one match the phone number. The a**-jerk needs to be jailed for his threats, that run the full range. He is nothing more than a coward hiding behind a phone. If he was real, and his company was real, and there really was a debt to collect, then his company would file lawsuit. Instead, they want to go the short-route, harass you into paying something - anything and when you do you prolong the statute of limitations and keep an open window for them to just keep harassing. These companies buy these debts from credit card companies, or banks, who write them off. Remember the creditor has already been paid by and through insurance taken out at time of loan. Then creditor sells these alleged debts (already written off) to the debt collectors. And when one cannot collect, sells yet to another, then another, some for as little as pennies on the dollar. But they want the whole enchalata. Get smart. Don't talk nor admit to anyone over the phone anything. And if you feel like it, tell them to shove it up their stinky a***s, and hang up. They can't stand to have someone hang up on them. And they cannot stand when someone stands up to them, as they want to be in control. Learn your rights. Fight back. But never threaten anyone on the phone. In many cases that can be a criminal offense. These boiler tactics are ageless, but still used today to the unsuspecting.

Mr. Taylor is borderline harassing me about some credit debt that I need to resolve.  Before the first call I had recently got my free credit report and the debt he is referencing is nowhere to be found.  He doesn't provide any details and I asked for something in writing and never received anything.  He is now calling my work.  Getting out of control.  If he want an attorney involved I can make that happen.  He won't like the results...

Mr. Taylor left a message saying he was so glad he has my social security number because he will be filing a wage garnishment against me in my state. This was after I hung up on him because he called me at work and I'm not allowed to take personal calls at work. He called my h"hang up" a flat refusal and sounded like he was taking pleasure in my situation. Jerk.

Mr. Taylor called that a complaint had been filed with a "case number' and unless I pay them $4600 they will send it to the IRS who will issue an lein against me for "unreported income" and send papers to my employer.

message on work phone - said to call Mr. Taylor that a complaint had been filed with a "case number" and giving this number to call back immediately to see about settlement -- came in as "external" -- no company name provided either in caller ID or in message.
