Debt Collector
They keep calling looking for Border Enterprises, my exhusband's co. They say I am liable for any debt the co. has since I was part of it. I told him, he took it in the divorce, that was stated in the divorce decree that I would have NO part of Border Enterprises. They don't have his number and neither do I, this was 4 yrs ago. This is a collection agency CRS that has bought an old debt and think they can call just anybody and intimidate. I was told by this lady from that company to get a hold of my lawyer so we can talk about this debt. I feel bad for the people that do not know what this people do is not legal and are afraid to be sued by the way this people threaten them. I told her to go talk to my ex-husband and get whatever money HIS company owes from him. They can't locate him so they keep calling me, let's see who gets tired first.
There should be harsher sanctions for people like this, these are hard times for a lot of us and to have someone threaten you because of a debt that it is not yours and ultimately it is not theirs either!! it is just so repulsive.

If your boss is willing to back you up you might be able to hose this collector in court. Verbal cease-comms are hard to prove but a written statement from you and the boss about revoking call permission, and the nature of the threats and the harassing call pattern, may help.

Meanwhile, if your debt account is within SoL, make them validate if you don't already have the required dunning letter. Specify when calls are convenient or that no phone contact is accepted. If the shot clock has run, send a cease-comm. Send these notices via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft them.

Attorneys general and the FTC are valid complaint venues which help the public good and may get the bad actors eventually fined and shut down. But understand that you must confront collection agencies directly if your goal is to halt or punish their mistreatment of your privacy and consumer rights. Use federal and state laws to your benefit.

Debt Collector
I am assuming this is a debt collector that is trying to recover on a debt that is several years old.  He says his name is Chris Anderson, and is threatening and demanding as he calls me at work and harrases me.  He called today at work, literally 10 times between 8 and 10 am, demanding to know the  name of the person over payroll and the physical address of the payroll department.  He even talked to my boss on the phone, who told him to stop calling his place of business.  I have told him not to call me at work over and over, but he will not stop.  I am reporting him and his company to the FTC and any place else I can find to report him too.
