I am sorry but I listened twice and that is the number given 800-220-0270 and it comes up as anonymous on my caller ID, when it comes up like that I just do not answer it.

Received numerous messages from this company, requesting I call them back.  So I did.  They asked for my home address and birthday.  When i asked what the call was regarding and the company name, the girl refused to answer until I give her my information.  When I said, no, she hung up.  I filed a complaint wiht the FCC, callers must identify their company when asked.

I am sorry so many of you are being harassed by this collection agency.  Their company is a medical and dental collection agency based out of New Jersey.  They go by FINREC...which is our website.

Our collection agency, which only works with commerical clients, focuses on large construction equipment used primarily to mine coal and build roads.  Our company's name is almost identical, "Financial Recovery, INC" and our website is www.finrec.net.  We are located in Roanoke, Va.

Again, I apologize their company is causing confusion and bothering so many, but please help spread the word that the collection agency with the number 800-220-0270 is NOT our company in Virginia.

Thanks,
Jason Seligman

No, it's not Financial Recovery, Inc.  We are based out of Roanoke, VA and our website is www.finrec.net - NOT the company that is harassing all these consumers.

800-220-0270 is a medical/dental collection agency.  Their company name is FinRec

540-776-8701 is a commerical collection agency in Roanoke, Virginia.  Our website happens to be www.finrec.net.

Two seperate companys.

This makes sense to me, as a doctor bill for my child was recently sent to collections, even though it was a mistake the insurance company needs to work out with the hospital.  All of the posters here need to ask yourselves if you have any bills that were sent to a collection agency.  Rather than bother answering this automated phone call or calling the number back, you could just call the number on your financial statement to work out the billing issues.

I just received a pre-recorded phone call from the above number.  Our caller id shows the name and phone number as being unknown.  The message stated "this is not a sales call" but went on to state that it is very important that I return the call Mon.-Fri. from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. & refer to a message # given on the recording.

I have no intentions of calling this number. How do I know if it isn't some sort of scam?

I received a call today from the same phone number. I asked the lady what type of business it is and she said a collection agancy. I asked her what the name was and she told me SINREC. This woman then kept asking me my name but she already knew it. Something you should know is that even if you have call block, if you call an 800 number, your number is not blocked. They can see the number calling. If you think you know what company it is, look up their regular number and call that. I have a feeling this woman was lieing about the name of the company because I can't find anything relating to a collection agency under that name. My sister works for verizon and she could not find anything either.

Received the call about 9am, but didn't get to pick it up...the machine got it. It was the same pre-recorded message many have received asking me to get a pen and paper to write down the 800 number and requested a call back with reference number 175.  Called back at 3:30pm and the call was picked up almost immediately by a woman who answered "Business Office".  Told her the reference number and she asked for the phone number I had received the call at.  After I provided it (they had it anyway, so I figured why not?) she told me the name of the person she was trying to reach, and was very pleasant about taking the number off of her list when I told her I had just moved in and had already fielded several collections calls for the person she was after.

I've run into this a bunch of times on both my home phone and cell phone; my new phone number was previously assigned to someone with collections, and these companies are just trying to get a hold of them.  The automated systems weed out those who are just going to hang up anyway, and the message gets regular folks who normally pay their bills to call back.  The key is be pleasant and cooperative.  Generally you only have to say your first name and provide the phone number they already have.  Tell them you moved in recently and you were recently assigned the number, and they're almost always happy to apologize for the inconvenience and remove your number from the list.  I've gotten more than a few of these calls (not for me), but each time I talk to the person on the other end and explain the situation I never hear from that company again.

I also got a call today from thsi company asking me to refer to message #175.  AS someone stated before me, it sounded like they had already been talking when my answering machine picked up.  Weird.  It's a shame that they do things like this.  Hopefully they're not preying on people and are a legitimate company.  Good Luck!!

They are indeed a collection agency for Medical Billing.

They can not talk to anyone or reveal the purpose of the call due to HIPAA. More information http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/hipaa

This is the HEALTH INSURANCE PORTABILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT OF 1996   http://aspe.hhs.gov/admnsimp/pl104191.htm  It is a public Law to protect privacy.

This leads to strange type of calls.

We got this call a several weeks ago. Asked for my husband by his first and last name. A recorded voice asked if this was his home, I stated yes. It went on to ask if he was home, I stated no. They hung up. Two weeks later they called back and asked the same two questions. This time he was home. I handed him the phone immediately but a recorded message was already playing when he put it to his ear. He heard it was about a debt we owed but he missed the call back number because he didn't have a pen or paper. He was extremely upset because we have no outstanding debts which made us think that someone got our credit information and ran up a debt. Today we received the call again, asking us to call the 800 number and refer to message #175. He called them back immediately and like the rest of you, got an answering machine. He left his name and told them he was returning their call. He also said, "You people called me. If you don't have the balls to talk to me in person then go to hell." Wonder if they will call back? LOL!

I got a message on my answering machine from this number today also. It was interesting that the message left sounded like my machine didn't pick up until the person was already speaking. The message started with, "You'll want something to write this down with..." Playing the message back a couple times, it was obvious that the message was prerecorded and not from a live person. I find it sad that there are unprofessional and deceitful companies out there that will prey on the naive nature of the people who will return the call. I definately will not be calling this number back and frankly, if it is a collections company, they can call me to the end of time if they're not going to have the professional courtesy to approach me directly and identify themselves.

Received a call a couple days ago from this number and I just saved it to call later because they didn't specify who they were.  I figured they were trying to sell something or it wasn't too important so I will call if I feel like it and when I feel like it.  I finally called the number today and I never heard a ring tone, all I heard was pure silence for about 2 miniutes then a recording came on that said " All circuits are busy now, please try your call later 074T ".  I tried it 2 more times and got the same situation and recording.  After reading all the post I will be very upset if they call me to get information and not announce who they are.  With all the scams, fraud and identity theft going on in society now, no one should take chances.  I will also let them know that because the way they handle there business it is all over the internet not to discuss things with them or answer their calls.  I agree that is just unprofessional if you are running a business.  Thanks for the heads up, it really helped me on knowing how to handle the call appropriately.
