Got a call last night at 8:45 p.m. at home (cell phone).  Said they were from, actually, after having her repeat twice, I still couldn't get the name of the company.  She said I owed my doctor $187.  Also that a statement had gone out.  I asked for the doctor's name and it was actually one I'd gone to in March.  She had my address, too. I said to send another statement.

Called my doctor's office this morning, was told I don't owe anything.  BEWARE People... NEVER give anything to them via phone.  ALWAYS call your doctor's office, and check your EOBs.

When someone calls and uses obscene or threatening language, or even heavy breathing or silence to intimidate you, you are receiving a harassing call. It is against the law in California and other states to make obscene or threatening calls. (California Penal Code section 653m, Penal Code section 422-422.1)

I received a env. today, my name hand written and nothing inside, as you could see thru the env. without opening it ,but there was a piece of tape across the back to seal it , very weird, so I looked up the address as no name was on it -P.O Box 99400, Louisville, Ky 40269 and found this page on them-http://www.bbb.org/louisville/public/Reports/RR/Print.aspx?firm=23001107-
I called the number as my tele. # is blocked from them and it said it was empass then asked for my acct. no. and I just hit the # sign then it asked again did it again and it directed me to an agent who wanted my acct. number. I said I have no acct. with you, you sent me a letter with nothing inside and tape across the back, why? He said Oh well I just have to verify some inform. what is your phone number? I said I am not giving out my phone number what did you want. Well he says he can't tell me without me verifing all my info. with him so I told him I do not have an acct. with you so I am not verifing anything with you good day- I am also reporting them-for those that are getting calls very early or late and you have told them not to call it is actually against the law and if you happen to be in the same state they are calling and harrassing you from you can file a report with the police station. I did on a company that called me on and off for over a year for someone I do not know and has never lived here-the police came out filed the report cld that company told them who they were and to quit clg us- he said if they had of lived in the same state they could actually arrest them for the obscenities he spewed when I wouldn't talk to them, so who knew. Rcvd a call 5-14-14 @ 8:30 am identifying themselves as Impass, pertaining to outstanding bill at ( will not mention Plantation FL Hospital)  Before they could discuss this matter with me as the person they were calling about is my mother who has Alzheimer's I would need to answer 3 questions to verify I was who I said I was. My mother has a zero balance at any hospital, informed Ms. freaking Impass and hung up on her.

It's not a collection agency. It's a billing agency for medical care. You may think you don't have a bill due but it's always possible to have something your insurance doesn't cover. I was hit by a car as a pedestrian and received a call from this number to let me know that they didn't have the correct address to bill me. She helped me with the questions that I had. Call back. They aren't there to hassle you. You had the service they need their money.

This is not a scam. (800) 223-9899 is a debt collector for many hospitals. You may owe a copay from your insurance or the remainder of your medical bill. This has nothing to do with harassing religious calls or scams. They do not ask for your full SSN. They ask for the last four digits to verify who you are.
They will even provide the date of visit and hospital name. Because of doctor-patient confidentiality, a debt collector would not be able to obtain this information.
I called back, provided my information, and verified that this call was legitimate because of something I owed.

National Patient account services...   Yes they are a collection agency.  Making over 31 Million a year.  I called our hospital and they said I owe them nothing.  The doctor we use is a good friend of ours and we owe him nothing.  Our insurance is disputing a third party bill due to coding errors,  They stated we owe them nothing and the third provider has been notified.  I will deal directly with  My primary doctor and if ok with him the 3rd parties office but not a collection agency.  I also will make sure our doctor friends know about the harassing way they are handling this.  If this happens to you notify your doctor directly,  sometimes they will call the other person on your behalf.

These people just called at 8:06 am twice in a row! And have been calling all week! Normal people leave messages!

Here is where to file a complaint for "creditors" who keep calling.

Left no message. But if these people "bought" this debt hoping to collect, they'll be waiting a long time for their $$$. My husband was hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk, and we will not pay a penny.  This is in litigation and will be resolved in due time. In the meantime, I love that my phone allows me to block these calls.

I get calls from this number nearly daily. They are all referencing my late husband, who passed in 2002.  Every single item they call about have dates of service that begin 6 years after he died...  Mind you these are dates of service - where they state he was in their office. He was cremated 6 years prior's. When I mention this, they insist I am lying!!!  Who lies about that???  I have his death certificate.  More than this, they state they are from a collection center for medical services, and must verify his information to continue. I understand Hippa, I work in medical billing. They have given me information on what services he was billed for, which is illegal to give out, not to mention he never ever once had a breast exam...   Furthermore, I have every record from every doctor he saw, including ancillary services such as lab, anesthesia, radiology, oncology infusion, every single one, and they are calling for doctors not even in my area, or that he ever saw.
It is awful that you assume the people on this site have "too much time on their hands", or are "lazy and stupid" .  In case you're too out of date to realize that there actually are illegal companies who buy, sell, and extort personal information for the purposes of defrauding them, you should really wake up or you run the risk of  being victimized yourself.
For every idiot, there's a company scamming people...its that prevalent.  One big reason this continues is exactly due to how many of scam companies there are out there that they cannot all be followed up on, and as soon as they hear from a government agency, they scurry to change their information, p.o. box, and DBA forms, so they continue without a hiccup nearly untraced.
Sites like this help the victims of fraud, even though there are folks dodging their bills who also read them. Most folks are just trying to protect their personal information and credit scores in a country that's made it critical to do so. Lumping us all together indicates your ignorance. Not realizing these scams proves it further.
Even if each rep only got 2 victims a day from the hundred or so they call, they are attempting to collect balances in excess of $1000. Do the math to that, 100 reps in a call center for 2 shifts a day, 6 days a week, each landing over $2000 daily....  and most people do pay their medical bills and so may be more likely to submit payment on this than say a payday lender collector.
Didn't your parents ever teach you to be quiet when you have nothing nice or positive to say?  That's because it makes your comments useless, and makes you look dumb.

"These are NOT people who purchased luxury items they couldn't pay for--these are people who have MEDICAL issues and are trying to pay bills that are bloated and inflated to the point that only someone that is very, very rich and sitting on a fat pile of money might be able to pay...eventually."

Exactly. It's not like we got up one morning and decided we were going to open up charge accounts and run up bills in the tens of thousands of dollars with no intention of paying them back.

Have you ever stopped to think that people who had to go to the hospital might just are/have been seriously ill?  Or in a bad accident?  And just possibly are dealing with health issues so severe their jobs fired them?  Or they simply can no longer work at the jobs they once went to every single day and now medical bills have already eaten up whatever saving they were fortunate enough to have?  Because it happens.  EVERY DAY in this country, it happens.  Do you really think that blame and harassment of someone who just found out they have leukemia, or cancer, or need an organ transplant, or has recently awakened from a coma to find themselves paralyzed due to a car accident caused by a drunk driver is somehow a moral thing to do?  You call them "deadbeat debtors", really?  These are NOT people who purchased luxury items they couldn't pay for--these are people who have MEDICAL issues and are trying to pay bills that are bloated and inflated to the point that only someone that is very, very rich and sitting on a fat pile of money might be able to pay...eventually.  Remember, as long as you continue to be nasty, rude, and lacking compassion toward people, there will always be bad karma coming your way.  Just saying.

I received a call from this number, my wife answered the phone and asked for me regarding Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas. I was in that hospital November 2012 and had a $1050 co-pay (which I paid off 12/2013)
I call back to their automated answering system and enter my account number and all the other stuff, It comes back with no account found. I try to talk to a live person and was disconnected twice.

I got 2 calls today from it no message. I'm confused why they called because I've never been to any hospital besides Kaiser and I pay my deductible at the visit....since the day I was born...so I know for a fact I don't owe a hospital bill. And I've never even been to Texas or Kentucky or any other place mentioned on this site. When I called back they refused information because there is no way I'm going to give them my SSN. So I had to block the number :-/   It makes no sense...

That is crap! It's the same way here. You go to the ER and the hospital accepts your insurance but the doctors don't. How are we supposed to know that!? AND the insurance is from the hospital! My wife works at this hospital and thus our insurance are part of their bennifits but the doctors there DONT ACCEPT IT!?  That makes NO sense!

Collection agency that says they represent hospital.  They were harassing me to pay my bill in full before I got a statement form the hospital and before it was submitted to insurance.  I refuse to pay anything to them and am paying the hospital only.  Because of them I have broken off having wound care done and my leg will rot off before I ever go back again.
