This is an automated  call from duane reade to fill your scripts. Ok great so why can't they leave there name on caller id. It would make it so much easier and we would be able to respond to them. What are they hiding?

This call is from Duane reade.  My pharmacist said it is a new service called "Refill Reminder".  Customers with medications that are due to be refilled in the next 3 days will receive a call to allow them to place an order.  If you don't want to receive the calls, there is a part where you can press "8" to opt out of future calls.  You will have to enter your birthdate to verify it is you answering (they said this is due to HIPPA privacy) and then you will be given a list of medications eligable to refill.  Once you choose what you want to refill, you will be told when you can pick up your prescriptions.  Cool new service. Forgetting to take medication is a huge issue in this country which leads to millions of dollars in heathcare costs.

I got received a call from this number and it was a "Refill Reminder" call from Duane reade.  I asked the pharmacist about it and it is a new service that just started a few weeks ago.  Patients don't need to sign up for it.  Customers will refills will receive an automated call about 3 days prior to their refill date and be able to place an order over the phone.  It doesn't automatically refill the medication, you have to indicate you want to order it.  The pharmacist did say you will have to enter your birthdate due to HIPPA privacy regulations, but no other personal informaiton.  I like this service.  Now I won't run out of my medication.

Because I receive a number of unwanted and unsolicited calls, I no longer answer any calls that are outside New York State.  I now include 800 calls.  I got one from 8002241167 today at 10:20 fortunately when I was not sleeping (as are about 85% of the calls received).

Corporations that are paying big money to have 800 numbers might well consult with each other before a rapper comes up with a multiple-million hit, "Don't answer 800s!)
