same thing happed to me today.  the envelope was white with a red exclamation point & confidential stamped on it.  the letter looked like a copy of letterhead from pnc but it was black & white.  The guy wanted my contact info & phone number.  I refused to give it & he sat in my driveway until my husband told him to leave the property, then he went to the street & sat probably 10 minutes & left.  He also tried to hit my dog with his car.

Exact same thing just happened to me! Shady guy in a busted white car put a yellow hanging card on my door. Not only that,  he also pressed his ipad (or other tablet) against the door window and took a picture of the inside of my house! I was sitting on the couch and called down to my husband, by the time he came down stairs he was gone. Someone should get his license plate and report to the cops.

I found a yellow/tan door knob hanging envelope, "IMPORTANT PLEASE CALL..." on our front door.  "Div of PNC Bank" and "800-235-7402" phone number hand written on the paper inside.  I think it was suppose to be for our neighbor who has the same house number but different street.  I haven't had a mortgage for 13 years, taxes all paid, so I think the contractor made a mistake! Second time it has happened.  Also had our property surveyed without our permission or knowledge - just came home to flags on every corner.  Next the Sheriff will show up to foreclose...

This number was on the door-hanger.

I am one of those "weirdo's" I assure u  I AM a contractor for your mortgage/insurance company!  If I fail to take the required photos (usually of the front and sides of the home, and your license plate on your car) I don't get anymore jobs from them!  I have at times had to drop off the envelope described, and I am either provided a message to write down or a letter to print out and enclose.  This is not a scam, but it is my job!

so has anyone called them to see what it is about? I got one of these today, we are behind (were in foreclosure) but have now been approved for the unemployment bridge program and are in process of closing on that, so everything will be caught up very soon, PNC should be aware of this by now so I was just wondering what the yellow paper with number were about, I was told that I was not to deal with the bank anymore, to let the UBP people deal with them so I am not sure whether I should call them or not, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Only in bankruptcies is there no contact allowed. I perform foreclosure inspections all the time (no yellow door hanger needed). I just snap the required photos from inside my car ;-)

I do this part time. It's not just PNC...also Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo...Bank of America has 2 million inspections. The company, I'm contracted with, only pays $5 per inspection so I dress very casually...shorts, flip flops...gotta a beat up car also ;-)

This a property inspector. They are there, on behalf of the mortgage company. They visit properties, once a month, to verify occupancy and inspect for damages. A typical inspection will consist of photos of the front of property, a street scene, the street sign and the house number. These are subcontractors who are only paid $5-7 per inspection so yes...the dress is casual ;-)

Im a renter, a petite female and they scared the heck out of me!
My Landlord is a good friend of mine and I know they're paying their mortgage in multi payments sum next month.
So I am aware of their situation.
Today I heard someone open the storm door and brush up against the door.
The bang, bang, bang.
Hard pounding knocks.
I am in an area where it's very out of place to have anyone knocking on the door.
Usually I wouldnt answer it, but I threw the door open.
This sketchy dirty looking little troll of man was standing there.
He was creepy in that he seemed angry and happy as he told me to call my mortgage company.
He called me by my landlord's name.
I asked him his name and he just said to call them today.

I am glad I looked up this number before freaking out my landlord.

Got the shady doorhanger with our mortgage company name and this phone number to call.  If your mortgage company wants to find you they are going to do better than leave a random note on your door hoping you will see it.

We too received one of these. Dropped off on Sunday morning.  We do not have a mortgage with PNC bank.  We have modified our loan with our bank so it show that we are two months behind but we are current on the loan modification payments.  I tried calling the phone number which belongs to pnc bank but they are closed on Sunday's.  Can't wait to ream them tomorrow.

Hey ... I too got one of those yellow envelopes a while back. Say's PNC Mortgage and 800 235-7402. Nothing else. Oh yeh! the date. Well I deserved it tho... I have filled out so much paperwork they have sent me to re-negotiate my mortgage and turned it in over and over for several months. I can't help my wife was laid off, and my job cut back so that we only net 1400.00 a month with a 698 mortgage. We have paid on this place 23 years now, and in our mid 50's. Asked for help and get the run around. While jumping through their hoop we were served foreclosure paperwork from the court. So screw them! Last appraisal has the home showing its worth less than the 35k I owe them. Hell I paid over 78000 so far over the years. All I get from them is kids on the other side that don't know anything except how to take a payment. That's SAD! So I have a lawyer, and am moving out.

A casually dressed guy in a beat-up car has been leaving this generic yellow envelope on this rental property for over a year now.  He drives up, takes a picture of the property and places this envelope on my front door.  I recently caught him in the act and asked him why he persists on doing this when I have yet to call the 1 800 number.  I told him I had been notified that the property was going into foreclosure, I am not the owner and have no interest in purchasing the property.  He responded that he would not be allowed on the property if it was in foreclosure and he was just the messenger. It is just downright weird to me that he persistently returns time after time without a response from me.  I contacted my landlord to see if she could shed some light on the situation and her response was "I guess he is trying to get to you".  What????? That response was just as weird to me as his showing up over and over again.  So glad I decided to type in this number to see if there was anything here that could give me an understanding of just what this is about.

Came home to find a super shady hand written door hanger.  Said to call the number for PNC Bank with all my account info ready. I'm not as worried about these people getting my info as I am worried about being robbed. I don't live on the beaten path.  Friends with directions have a hard time finding my home.  Beware of these people.

the messenger had smelled of bad breath and BO... he announced himself as having a delivery from PNC. He handed me envelope with only "PNC" and "800 235 7402" hand written on the same paper as described above. Seems like desperate marketing for someone.

The same notice was hung on my doorknob.  The person who dropped it off told a friend of mine that he was a realtor.  But, apparently he was a subcontractor from PNC mortgage.  I happened to be on the phone with a PNC customer service representative at the time the note was dropped off.  (PNC drafted my mortgage from the wrong checking account so I was on the phone with them correcting THEIR error.)  The customer service rep said that this was a new policy of theirs.  They are now sending these paid subcontractors to homes that are behind on their mortgages.  However, I was not 'behind on my mortgage,' the bank admitted they took the payment from the wrong account!!!  I can't wait to refinance and get rid of PNC mortgage!!!

Yellow envelope with bilingual message as described by others was left while we were away.
Letters scrawled on the insert actually looks like PNL, rather than PNC.
Property is owned free and clear, taxes paid. Hasn't been a mortgage on the property for a dozen years or more. I'm going to the local branch of the bank tomorrow to raise h*ll.

Same here, PNC Mortgage, was on mine, with the same # to call thankfully I checked here first.
I believe the banks, PNC, etc. are to fault. They won't help home owners with loans they screwed up, escro errors, etc., they won't help people who pay their loans- and they have the gawl to sell our information to other organizations to spam us with more garbage when they figure out we're done paying into their problems on loans they f*cked up.

Left on door today.

It was a completely non-branded envelope and enclosure with PNC poorly written upon it.
