This ppl keep on calling and asking for money, they say I have a 3 years contract with them, and they charged my acc 3 times already without my authorization, i got friend in the Dominican Republic, they gave me info about this company, they used to be in the Free Zone in puerto plata city, and they moved to the 27th ave, they have alot of issues with their employees is a *ucked up company. SCAM all over the place, im getting more info about them!

Be careful, they will ask for general information, then let you know they will send you an invoice.  They do not mention this until the end of the conversation, so do not waste you time, just say no, and ask that they take you off their call list.

The caller is Econo-Pages.  It is a yellow page fraud company based in Montreal, but tends to float around.

They are a fraud alright, am still waiting for my we-page.  Now no body answers the phone or anything, and we got robbed, and no body is there to respond for you lost... BE CAREFULL,  they call and call, and call and call, untill you do no want to hear from them anymore and that is when you give in, and zap, they still and run.....

they threatened my dads credit, our business credit, said the knew how to legally process our case so we better pay asap, got really rude and would hang up when i would tell them this was a mistake and we didnt have their services, even sent me more than five fax where they tried pressuring us into giving them account information and criticized my education for hanging up on them. as if they were so educated themselves.
i wrote them a letter requesting my companys contract and explained how unprofessional they were and how i knew i was in a perfect position to actually sue them and guess what? after that they left me alone! this happened yesterday... im really thinking about sueing them now, i already filed the complaints though....

Today I received a called from someone on behave of Econopages, according to him he is a lawyer and told me we owed them money, when on the contrary i paid them for a web-page that was never done, and my money was never returned.  I made a complained to the better business bureau and they never answer to them, and out of the blue this threating phone called... Does anybody have any idea how to deal with this people.. I already contacted my lawyer but is really upsetting that people like this can get away with everything...

I just received the call from Econo-Pages and they said that they received a payment from us last year and they thanked us and that they will be billing us for this year.  I said, "I am sorry, but I have not approved any kind of ad or anything else in the past 5 years and that I was not going to pay anything."  They then asked if it was possible that someone else had approved it and I told her, "No!"  She then said, "Thank You." and that they would not be sending us an invoice.  She was very polite but I know this is a scam because they got me once but not a second time.  I found that some companies will call and ask, "Is so and so your address?" and once you say "Yes", they have you recorded so they use this as a recording that you agree to their services.  Be very careful to answer "yes" to anything.  Always question who they are and don't say "yes" or "I agree" or anything agreeing to their questions.  I have asked for proof and they don't call back.  I also tell them that I will not agree to anything until I have received something written (information) by them or that I don't agree to anything by phone, only written contracts.  This will save you tons of money!  Question everything, they get very frustrated and some even get nervous.  I have received several calls like this one.  I refuse to get caught again.

Got a call From Econo-pages again. Telling me that I was required to pay for the other half of my 2 year listing, that was going to be 29.95. I said yeah whatever, I want to see the invoice for what I am supposedly being charged for. It finally got here and it's the same one for $420.00 that they tried to screw me with last year. Since we didn't become clients the first time, how is it that I was told to pay the other half and yet I have a bill for another 2 years? Not to mention that their number is from a call centre in the Dominican Republic - yeah, that doesn't scream scam!

Call was from American Direct Marketing who said they had us listed for Econo Pages.  I did not authorize a listing.  They would not email me any information.

I just got a call from "Licenciado Lopez" from Econo Pages telling me that they will affect my credit score because I refuse to pay a bill for a service that I never order..can this be posible, what can I do?

Same thing happened to the company I work for, someone call saying I'm calling to confirm this add, asks who they are speaking to and then sends an invoice for 399 with no option to cancel and assures they have a verbal agreement. they call everyday nonstop and if you request to hear the verbal agreement they want to charge you seventy something dollars to provide you with a copy of the recorded conversation. this is the worst company i ever had to deal with.

This company is a fraud.
Best thing to do is to documate everything about the call and make sure that you ask what city and province they are calling from.
I talked with a woman by the name of Joanne and she called saying she was calling to confirm my listing.
I have fought with two other companies from Montreal Que for over six months.
I contacted the police and was told to call PHONE BUSTERS....they have been a great help.
Best thing to do is to documate everything and including the phone if you have caller id and then call Phone busters and file a complaint with them.
Also tell these callers that you are documating everything after you get the info from them.
These companies seems to be targeting small businesses.
And if they do send you an invoice keep it!!!!!

Law firm in DC area is preparing a class action lawsuite agaist econopages in Oregon and Canada. We will forward the information to all involved in this scam for compensation. Also several bussiness affairs offices are being notified as well. Because one of the offices is located in Canada, this has been notified to the United States Attorney's Office as well.

They call to confirm your company info for listing in their online directory and then at the very end try to sneak in your verbal authorization for their premium program costing $399 per year which will be invoiced. Checked their website measurements on Quantcast and they generate fewer than 300 visitors per month TOTAL. What a joke! This is a rip-off. Just hang up.

I received an invoice for $420. I never heard about these guys.  I will be reporting them to BBB in Ottawa.  This is the 4th time this year of this type of scam I've had to report - how do they continue to get away with this I wonder.

The company took $300.00 out of my account without proper authorization. Please stay away from this company they are a SCAM!!!!!

This number has been calling us for the last 2 weeks, DAILY. Every time I pick up they hang up.

I am so grateful for this website. This is the 8th scam company that has contacted us this year. I love this website!

Why? Its true. If they cant or refuse to provide a copy of a contract, then there is none and you are not liable for the bill.

Agreed with all the above comments. This is a SCAM. Do not fall for their tricks.

You are not obligated to pay for this.  Send an email or fax to the numbers or addresses listed on the "invoice" requesting a copy of the signed contract or the verbal agreement by the listed owner.   If they can't provide that. Buh bye!!! and trash the invoice.  

Without that information there is no "legal" contract and they can't hold you to anything.  I worked for a telemarketing company after my divorce, to make ends meet, and I learned quite a few tricks about what is and what isn't acceptable.  

What they do sending this bill is the "implied sale", and you're not wary enough to question it and just pay it, THEN you've entered into a business agreement and THEN you're stuck for it.
