This is a scam!! They call me at home and work and try to scare me saying I will be arrested and that I owe them thousand of dollars.  I have not taken out any loans and have paid all my bills if Dexter Company don't stop calling.  I am going to report you to Federal Trade Department, FBI, all the State Police and Attorney General that will help me to get my money back.

Dont buy what these people say it is a total scam, they get your info online if you ever applied for loans or anything online they obtain the info and scare you into thinking you owe them money and threaten to sue you and say that a warrant will go out for your arrest dont by it. Tell them you are going to contact you local F.B.I. office and to leave you alone

Call me and harress me at work...but when I call them back...they hang up IMMEDIATELY.  I work for the government so they must get "nervous" about seeing the "Federal Government" show up on their caller ID.  I say this because I called this number from my job twice and BOTH times they hung up on me..but when I called from my cell phone...someone answered.  They could hardly speak english and there was so much noise and static in the background and there was a terrible echo sound.  Definately a SCAM!!!!

They called me at work stated they will have legal charges brought up against me when I asked for more detailed information they hung up the phone.

They have called our company for an employee and even after telling them that we don't accept personal calls, they continue to call and harrass.

I've been receiving calls at work and because our calls get screened, they are denied to be transferred to me directly.  Now the receptionist is personally calling me to ask what they should do because they are now getting 10 calls a day.  I called them back and they are VERY VERY RUDE...demanding and have no consideration...they have a weird accent and are demanding money that I supposedly owe them?  I asked for documentation and they are not providing it.

i have been getting calls from them, i do not owe any debts. i ask them about the debt they have given me 3 or 4 different amounts and different dates of getting money. no documentation from them, nothing in the mail from a debt collection agency. when i ask why the company itself didn't call me about a debt they get very upset and say good luck i hope nothing bad happens to you. very threatening . i have filed a complaint with the fbi and bbb ... stop calling us innocent people to try and make your living.. get a real job.

I worked very hard to get as much concrete info from these guys as possible.
They claim to be the legal department of United Cash Advance. I have never done any business with a company named United Cash Advance. When I went to the website for United Cash Advance, I cannot locate a phone number to call them.

They gave my husband a different address. He could not make out what they said the name of the street was (very bad accents), but the address they gave him was in New Port Richey, FL.
It is really scary...they had all of my information, including my full social security number, my bank account name, number and routing number, address, employment, references. Though some of the information was old, I want to know how they got this information in the first place! What really ticked me off was after my husband told them I was not available, they called my son! That's when I got on the phone and pushed to get information. I think they thought if they gave me an address and such that I would send them money.
They threatened me with a $4000 lawsuit. I threatened them with a harassment lawsuit.
I am calling the Florida State Attorney General tomorrow! It is too late today. Maybe if citizens start taking a stand against these kinds of people, we can start making a dent in the scam industry.

When these people call DO NOT give them any information. Report them to your state's attorney general's office and the FTC. Dexter is a fake name working for an Indian company trying to scam people out of thousands of dollars. What they are doing is illegal!!

An indian guy left me a message,and said his name was jerry Hunt ,he is from legal department unsecured loan,he was so mean and telling me that i have to call him right back ,and he said Good luck he keft a number 1888 3430933 ,when i call that number its like it doesnt exist ......iam getting tired of these scam people ,does anyone knowws how to get them

You "people" should be ashamed of yourselves!!! You would get a better response by just calling and saying "Look, I live in a 3rd world/country/town/village and I am poor, hungry, and have no job. Can you please help me?". If you are going to tell such bogus lies, at least make them sound realistic. On another note, most of the people that you are calling have never in their lives taken out a payday loan. I give you credit for intent but you fail miserably at scamming. Get it together, better yet just call it quits because you all sound like foreign idiots. Oh, and I know a great deal of Middle Easterners and none of them have common names like, Alex Martin, Clay Allison, John Matthews, or my favorite, Albert Jackson.

Hey there, everyone.  I have been researching this for a few days now and everything I have found says this is a complete and utter scam!  The FTC and BBB released a statement saying that they believe the information this "company" obtained was through a security breach.  First of all, any legit company is NOT going to deny you the appropriate documentation on a loan you supposedly have... that's illegal.  Also, they CANNOT misrepresent themselves--and it's clear to me they change their "name" quite frequently.  The most frequent name I've found that they use is "Cooper Law Firm".  I will add as well that it is ILLEGAL to threaten people the way they do.  It is against FTC regulations to threaten jail to someone or to tell them they will start calling their work and they will be fired.  They do these things to scare people into getting their information quickly.  Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any legit addresses for these scumbags--the number they call me from is international and it shows as 052797721. I found the following advice in my research yesterday and wanted to share it with all of you:

The information you have provided is very similar to other complaints we have received, which also involve attempts to collect Internet payday loan accounts by persons/entities that do not properly identify themselves; making empty threats of legal action or threats of criminal prosecution in order to intimidate consumers into giving out their banking information to collect payment. This type of illegal debt collection activity has been occurring for some time. An August 2008 ABC News article on the issue is attached.

We suspect that the people that called you are not "a law office." As odd as it may sound, it would be a good thing if any of these "lenders" would bring a legal action; then we would at least know who we're dealing with. In either case, there is no lawsuit; they are just trying to "phish" for your personal banking information through intimidation.

We suggest that you tell the caller that they will get no information or payment from you unless they provide you written evidence of the alleged debt and properly identify themselves and their authority to collect the alleged debt. If they continue to call, continue to terminate the call, or just set down the phone and walk away. Let them rant all they want to; eventually, they will realize you're not going to give-in to their scam.

Since this group apparently has some personal information about you, you may want to file a fraud alert with the major credit bureaus: www.equifax.com, www.experian.com and www.transunion.com, and, perhaps, file a report with the Wisconsin Office of Privacy Protection (http://privacy.wi.gov); but before you do that, you may want to first get your free credit reports to see if there is any unusual information or activity there. All consumers are entitled to receive one, free credit report from each of the bureaus, once every 12 calendar months. If you have not yet used this process, or you did so more than 12 months ago, you can get your free report at the website specifically set-up for this process: www.annualcreditreport.com.

If you ever did have a payday loan, we may be able to track the lender and find out more about who may be calling you. I'm getting calls on my cell from #052797721 and #00000 - all the same thick foreign accent & extremely poor English, leaving messages for "Lisa" (this is NOT me - and I've had this number for a few years) about how she needs to do this and that (not really sure what, can't understand the guy), but he does finish by saying something along the lines of, if I don't do exactly as he says, then he cannot help and can only wish me safety and luck.  Whatever - speak properly, leave call-back information and don't block your number........annoying.

Received a call that came up on caller ID as 052797721.  Same thick, barely understandable accent that has called from other numbers.  States he represents some type of Law Enforcement agency and wants information on a relative.  Last time he wanted my info.  Left call back number of 888-706-7063.  Total B.S.

I had got phone calls from Federal Legislative Department as well, same guy with a thick accent, calling me many times at work and at home.  Check these phone numbers and names on the Better Business Bureau website.  They are the same scammers under many names and phone numbers.

I filed a complaint with the FTC and the Attorney Generals office.

This is almost exactly what happened to me only the calls are coming at work and they are coming by the tons.  They are so rude.  I reported this to the Police Dept.  When the Police called the phone # the guy said he would sue the police officer!  I think they are crazy!

Got a call first from 800-263-2153. Look that # up on this site!! A lady with a pretty thick foreign accent said that they were calling from the Federal Legislative Department/Financial Infraction Division.  They told me to call this on line cash advance place (of which I had never solicited, but does exist) they said was "United Cash" in California at 949-743-1049. I called them and they talked about all this legal matter stuff.  They said they had been trying to call for a long time, tried to draft funds out of my account that weren't available, etc.  "It was now not a debt, but a legal matter," they said. They said that I had until the next day to send over $500 or my name would be ruined, my credit screwed, my whole life messed up.  BTW, when I asked what company was calling, they stated, "US Cash Advance" which doesn't match what the first party ("Federal Legislative Department") said.  Then they told me that I had to write a letter and fax it to them (at 866-294-2364).  Get this: The foreign person basically dictated a letter to me that was grammatically incorrect, and didn't make grammatical sense either.  Like a foreigner who doesn't understand proper grammar.  I'm not responding to these people after reading about the 800-263-2153 number.

another call today from JOHN BAKER. Caught caller id - 052797721. he called back and left message on my supervisor's phone-happened to be in his office when he played it back. told him it was scammer and to ignore it. after reading others horror stories about this collection agency, I hesitate to call back. I don't need them calling my place of business. if anyone has any additional data on them, please let me know. thanks.

Got a call from 052797721..that's not even enough numbers to be a real phone number. They told me to call them back at 1-800-263-2153. It was an Indian man who can barely speak English, says his name is 'John Baker.' When was the last time you met a John Baker with a heavy foreign accent? Exactly - its a complete scam, trying to get innocent people's money. Just tell them you are going to file an FBI report against them - that's what I did and they have left me alone so far.

The # calling me 1800 263 2153, I was on my way to work when they called. What a feeling going 70mph and be told that you going to be charged with three counts of fraud and that I needed to provide my lawyers info. They new evertything from my SSN, childrens name and my checking account number. Still haveing to drive 30 more miles!!! I finally get to work to call my loan company that they said I owed money to just to find out I was all Paid up. So I started with the state of Floridas DA office to file a complaint, I also contacted the Federal trade commision and reported them. So what happens Mr John Mathews from the legal dept of unsecured loans calls and we have a conversation. He imediatly begins to threaten legal action and that he would be contacting my employer and that I would be out of a job. So all I could say was bring it on!! so I guess for now all I can do is wait for my next call. Not a good way to start your day!

BBB said that since they cannot provide me with an address..the case is closed.  Anyone lucky enough to get their address?

This guy named Henry called my mother in law and left her a message. The message stated that someone in our family had died and it was an emergancy that I call him back immediately!! I did not think think that a legitimate collection agency used these procedures! They are threatening lawsuits. Think I will report them

I have been receiving these phone calls for months now. This man is getting meaner and meaner each time he calls. He has called my mother and my grandmother threatening both of them that I would be arrested if money wasn't paid. I told him not to call back and that I was hanging up and he yelled at me to go ahead and hang up, he would just call back. So, I hung up and he called back about 10 times. When I finally answered, he just said "I told you I would call back." I am not sure what to do about this guy. Any suggestions.
