Don't let Allied Data Corporation get away with harassing you with abusive behavior. They have been known to pretend to be an attorney to get you to pay them. By doing this, they are violating your laws under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and you may be able to turn the tables on them to sue them for the distress they've caused you without paying anything upfront to hire an attorney! Got a voice mail from 1-800-275-7176 stating that I urgently needed to call because someone has tried to open a commercial business account under my name. Gave her name but no company.

Been getting a call from 1-800-275-7176 ex 3458 saying that it's important I call back concerning a Commercial Business account I have. I've never applied for a Commercial Business Account. Who do I need to call to report this? They are calling for my dad & my mom.

They called last Wednesday and said that I had 2 options.  #1 pay the total amount of $349 or #2 pay $250 and settle with them.  I tried to call back for a question and got a "number not in service" message.  I had to open a savings account and transfer all my funds from my checking account to my savings.  SHould I go ahead and pay them? I can't even get a hold of them.

I have had this 1-800-275-7176 ext given in MSG 3465, I have been harnessed by this group &their people they have even called my daughters cell phone to harassers her about me & We  have no clue how they got her number then also contacted  the person who lives across the street from me looking for me and giving  personal info about  collecting a debt from me & I don't really even know these people at all ! ... I have been put into some debt from last year when I got laid off from work then finding out after being rushed to hospital. That I had a mass in my lower back  after test found out it was a rare cancer cardoma with not a lot of time left  the surgery's were done in Aug & I almost died well anyway I  am still recovering now  & working hard to get better & then these bimbo's call & say I will be locked up for stealing  even tho I have nothing but an ssi check that only makes my rent /food/ elect so there is no left over until I am better  & back to work to get what ever debt they are hounding & scarring me of being arrested for! This is abuse to me calling & threats then also calling my daughter &  people that live across from me telling them I'm going to jail for stealing...... HELP don't know what to do  about the calls & threats!!!

Just got a call from 1-800-275-7176 saying that they have my name and social security number and need to hear from me or my attorney by 6 pm tonight.

There is no way they should talk about legalities on my voicemail

Just got a call from a Kendrick Meri saying me or my attorney needs to call by 5pm to discuss my Commerciall Business account. I don't have a comercial business so I looked the number up and find thats its Allied Data trying to be sneaky.

I recived a call from this number yesterday! Saying that i need to call them back before noon that i need to contact them or my Attorney!  ( today ) when icalled back they said it was close an that they open at 8am ( its 8:41 ).. I freaked out when i heard attorney. Can they really take me to court or jail for 100 dls that i own avon? I was going throu a hard time and havent been able to pay.. But didnt know it could get to this!!! I need some answer!! Had a terrible night thinkig about it!!

They have called me three times, said it's pertaining to a commercial account and they need me or my attorney to call by 5:00pm today.  Said I need to leave a statement.

This is a Third Party Debt Collector.   What can't third-party debt collectors legally do?

Under federal law, third-party debt collectors cannot do the following:

* Cannot identify themselves as debt collectors to anyone other than yourself.
* Cannot tell anyone that you owe money to them or their client. * Cannot contact your friends, family or neighbors more than once while trying to find you.>
* Cannot send you a postcard in the mail to contact you about your overdue account.
* Cannot send a letter with a return address showing that it's from a collection agency.
* Cannot call you before 8 a.m. your local time, or after 9 p.m. your local time.
* Cannot continue to call you at work if they know you can't take calls at work.
* Cannot discuss your account with anyone else but you, your attorney, or a credit reporting agency.
* Cannot threaten to hurt you or your family physically, or to destroy any of your personal property you may own.
* Cannot use profanity at any time in their dealings with you.
* Cannot put your name on a list of "deadbeats" and publish it in the newspaper, post it in public or on any computer network or service.
* Cannot threaten to advertise your debt for sale in order to force you to pay them.
* Cannot keep calling you on the phone, calling up and hanging up or hanging up before you get to it. It's harassment and you don't have to put up with it.
* Cannot make "anonymous" phone calls.
* Cannot falsely misrepresent themselves in order to give you the impression that they're with the federal government, either on the phone or in a letter.
* Cannot tell you your debt is for more than it really is in order to scare you into paying the actual (and smaller) amount. The can't add on additional collection fees unless your original agreement specifically states that they can.
* Cannot tell you that they're with the "legal department" or that they're a "paralegal" if they're really not. Nor can they use any letterhead that is misleading and looks like it's from a federal or state-affiliated agency or state or even insinuate that they are working with or have special information from our friends at the Internal Revenue Service.
* Cannot threaten to have you arrested. This is a civil matter, folks. Relax.
* Cannot threaten to have your property seized (unless that property is actually securing the debt, like an automobile).
* Cannot threaten you with an action that is not enforceable in your state (a common example of this is the threat of garnishing your paycheck when that's against the law in a state such as Texas).
* Cannot threaten you with arrest or jail time because "...it's obvious you used this card knowing that you couldn't pay the money back. That's fraud!" Another tactic of intimidation that's against federal law.
* Cannot lie about their identity in order to get information about you. Lines like "I'm an old friend" or "I used to work with her over at..." or "I'm his insurance agent and we have this claim check ready for him. Could you have him call me at..." are examples of these types of illegal tactics.
* Cannot claim to "own" the debt, making them the creditor and forcing you to have to deal with them. Another common tactic.

Today at 8:13 AM, I received a call from a woman who called from 800-275-7176 asking for my husband. I asked her what she want to talk with my husband and she said that she need to talk with him, and I told her to go and satidfy her need somewere else, and hung up an her.

I offered to pay them $30.00 a month, they refused said they'll write off 30% then split the payment in 2 on the balance.  I said no way I cal only afford $30.00 a month, if I could pay the debt like that it would already of been paid to Avon.  Then she said "so I'll just mark this a failure to pay."  Then I said "oh before you do that is this phone call being recorded."  She said "yes it is."  I said "good, because your not accepting my arrangements is not a failure to pay but a lack of stupidity on your part."  Now I won't pay them a dime, every penny I owe will go directly to Avon Products for my outstanding debt.  

I've also gotten calls telling me to have my attorney call them.  Seriously?  What attorney in his right mind would call a collection agency when you haven't attained his legal services for this debt, which would probably be a bankrupcty if you did anyway?  Are you supposed to just pick an attorney out of thin air and say call this place, come on really?  Don't let them scare you into paying anything, pay Avon Products directly.

Keepcalling & leaving threatening meassages

Got threatening phone call about a matter that my name & SS# was connected to. If I did not have an attorney or better myself call by 4:00 p.m. legal matters would proceed. Stated needed more personal information

I am so disgusted with Allied Data Corporation. They have called me and they were so nice, but then when I explain what I was doing, they were so rude. I have been under identity theft, I have some items from Avon that are not mine, and I am going to get them sold back to Avon. They said I couldnt, but I am going to do so! I am going to report Allied to the BBB , because they were so rude. I have got a mother that is 80 years that has broken a hip and I have been the primary caregiver. It has been so hard. I have been under identity theft for 4 years & 4 months. Avon has told me they will pay me for the items I have. I believe they will, but Allied said no way!

I have been going through so much and Allied Data could have been at least a little nice about things. They are going to be reported to the BBB!

They called and left a message saying it was a collection call ogainst a cooperate account in my name,i'm a stay at home mom and hav'nt open a home based buisness..When I called them back they could'nt find my file,I had to repeat my name and phone # 4 times to the lady and then she said may I call you back our computers are freezing up....Not Profressional to be an actual debt collector..

It's a collector for Swiss colony--6 Years ago.  I don't even know how they have this number.  I just moved here.  It was included in a bankruptcy.  I gave them my lwayer's number.

I received a call from 800-275-7176 ext 3439 Ms. Martin.  She calls my house often for someone I have never heard off (Brandy).   Latest call was Ms Martin chastising Brandy for not returning her calls.  The worst part Ms. Martin went into great detail about what type of account etc she was trying to collect on my VOICEMAIL.  Aren't there laws about this?

I have received call after call from this company actually by accident. My phone is actually not able to make outgoing calls right now. I am able for some reason to still be able to get messages. I dont know how since my number wont let me call out. From my friends phone I can dial my number and put in my code and pick up my messages even though the phone service itself is off right now. I just decided the other day to visit my friend. I used her phone to see if i was able to hear my messages. I was. I had numerous messages from this company telling me to have my lawyer contact them. Good bye and Good luck. I was like...What? They call and leave messages only with their name and phone number to call back. I still had no idea who it was asking for my lawyer. I had gotten a number of calls but the last one on the recording was from Ms. Sulley. Phone number 1.800.275.7176 xt 602. She stated that if she didnt hear from me by 8pm my information would be turned into the County. First of all I didnt even pick up this message until 11pm so guess what? I missed her deadline of 8pm. This call had me sick all night. This morning I feel equally as bad and am just hoping I dont have heart failure over it and Im not kidding. I have read all the posts here and can see that they are very harrassing but Im still very worried I guess bc Im so sick Im almost to the point of bed except that I want to finish typing this first. I seriously feel like vomiting as I type. I have enough problems but would be willing to work with them if they were nice. Threatening to send me to the County....which Im assuming is jail? has me unoperable practically. I dont even have a job right now. I guess Ill have to suffer in my food bill to be able to pay them. I got a call from ervon or whatever her name was saying that avon is taking you court for legal purposes. You will go to jail so im hear to help you pay it off before that. I was like well Ill pay avon first then there wont be an issue she said no they wont take it now. I want $300 is there a family member you can get money from? I said no well call your dad I said no. I started crying thinking it was real. I called my uncle who is the head chief of fbi of many states he told me to research the number first before doing anything. They are calling me for 139.00, I never made a dime from Avon they are scam artists they have their higher up sales reps trained like Bots!! Wanted my debit information I don't think so Scooter.

Well, "affidavits" means nothing, and if it was filed in their office, its for sure it's fake.  
Courthouses/court clerks don't call people about filed paperwork, as that is not their job.  They file paperwork, period.  It is the responsibility of the suing party or the cops, depending on whether it's civil or criminal, to do the serving, and it's not done by "affidavits."  They also wouldn't be calling you now for something supposedly filed in 2008.  A scam. Hang up on them, and if they persist, get a nice metal whistle and blow it in their ear if they harass you (usually after 3-5 calls, depending on the locale.)
