NCO Financial - "important" business call. Law requires us to tell you this is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information obtained, etc etc etc blah blah blah. Please call "Miss Rose." What what?? Who do they want? They don't say. I don't owe them any money. I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number. They call several times a week. No other notifications, just this obnoxious phone call all the time.

Here is the EXACT message I get from these scammers:

"Please call Miss (Rose?/Rhodes?) back today at 1-800-275-8105, once again the number is: 1-800-275-8105. Thank you."

According to American law and FCC Regulations, this call is ILLEGAL because:

1. The so-called 'collection company' does not identify itself as "NCO Financial Systems," which is what the phone number look-up identifies it as. Notice the word "Collections" does NOT appear in the legal title of the company. That's not illegal, however, it is illegal for a collections company to call without identifying itself as a collection company.

2. Secondly, BY LAW, they MUST state during the message "The law requires we inform you that this is an attempt to collect a debt."

3. Use Google and enter "NCO Financial complaints," and you will see that there are *thousands upon thousands* of complaints against this 'company.'

4. The unfortunate people who call them back are verbally assaulted right away by a woman with a very thick Hindu accent. She will literally insult you in very personal ways, and if you dare give them your name, consider your credit rating GONE. She usually wastes no time threatening to freeze your bank account and put a lien on your home.

5. If you ask them to prove that you owe the debt, forget it: they will triple the threats against you and instead of two calls a week, you will get up to ten calls a Day.

6. If you simply must call these people, as soon as they answer, ASK THEM WHO THEY ARE CALLING FOR AT YOUR NUMBER. They will refuse to tell you. What does that tell you? Think about it: They call you, insisting you owe a debt, yet when you call them and give them the same phone number they called you at, they won't name which person owes a bill! There's another *huge* RED FLAG.

7. LOOK AT THEIR COMPLAINT HISTORY ONLINE. Google it. You will see where people have paid them thousands of dollars over YEARS of time, yet NCO never reported that the client (victim!)paid the bill to ANY of the THREE credit bureaus in the United States -- which means that person threw away *thousands* of dollars, yet they still OWE 100% of the debt in the eyes of ALL the companies that decide YOUR credit rating.

***I wish I knew more about how to protect people from these bloodsuckers, but I don't. But here is my advice: Contact a lawyer immediately if you hear from these NCO vampires BEFORE you ever call them back, and document Everything. Let your LAWYER contact them (ALWAYS in written form) to request WRITTEN proof of your debt AND insist on a paper trail from the ORIGINAL company that the debt allegedly originated from.***

If ANY company calls you saying you owe some company, *always* insist on written proof of the debt then contact the ORIGINAL company the debt came from. "Collection debt fraud" is currently among the top three frauds in the United States today. Call your local "Better Business Bureau" if you don't believe me.

Good luck everyone, and please stay safe!

Some keeps leaving a message about a debt to be collected from that toll free number. Why won't they send anything in writing? Very annoying! It must be a scam of some sort like I hear about on the news. Not going for it: not calling that number ever in life. Whoever the caller is, he or she can go to Hell!!!

They called me with the asking me to payoff a debt that I had already paid off 7 years ago.  I asked for something in writing in regards to the matter. It's been over a week and I'm still waiting for my letter.  I can hardly wait because I intend to charge them for the research on the frivolous accusation.

"This is an important call from NCO Financial" more blah blah. Leave a real message if you expect a call back. Who the hell is "Miss Rose?" Sounds like an old dancehall gal in a saloon.

I get the recordings all the time. I have no debt. The recording doesn't even say who they want since it is a recording every time. Have been getting the calls for over a year now but yet no letters in the mail.

Vaguely threatening message left with instructions to call a Mister Lane, instructing me to return the call.  An "or else" was not verbalized but WAS Certainly implied.  Message says is debt collection, but WHOSE debt is not known!  Came Wed May 13 at 11:15.

Repeated calls that indicate it is an "urgent" matter. The message sometimes identifies themselves as an attorney. When the call is returned it is put on hold for longer than I was willing to hold. I have left messages telling them to stop calling but the calls continue. If they are a collection agency, they have no reason to call me.

I receive a call just about every day for my last name and all kinds of different first names that start with P.  I am in the phone book with my first initial and last name.  The person leaving the message has the same voice (young male) but always says to call Mr. Lane or Mr. Smith or Mr. Anderson.  They make sure to say any info they get will be used to collect a debt.

I also received a call from this number with the same message, and I called back.  Guess what?  The debt they were attempting to collect was someone I had never heard of.

I wasn't home when they called so my answering machine had this information. It was a recording instructing me (they said my name) to call 800-275-8105 to discuss a "very important matter".  They are VERY persistent.
