got a call from # 800-288-0042 claim reward notice no idea what it's about

I got a text message from this number. It says: Official Reward Notice. Call 8002880042 Now for important claim information! Keep prize txt act active.txt.stop 2 end
I have no idea why I got this or what it is all about. Per the comments above, it is for ringtones. I have never used outside ringtones and this text just cost me money since I don't text from my phone. Stupid!

I replied "stop" to the text message and immediately got a text back that says:
"You will receive no further messages from us. Questions? Call 8663098187.

I received a text "Important Claim Information!" ???????

I just noticed this txt.. I received it the same day everyone else did, Jan 3. Ugh, I hate these.

I also received this text.  I sent a reply of STOP and got a reply of "you will receive no further messages from us. Questions? call 866-309-8187."

I received the text message from 800-288-0042 / Free Music Connection / $20.00 Visa Gift Card winner

Called the # and spoke to a gentleman who wanted to enroll me in a discount club of some sorts for $1/month for a $40.00 VISA Gift Card.

I acted like a child on the phoen and asked where my Free Music was and he said he couldn't hear me. He didn't know about free music as he was with GREAT FUND.

Googled Great Fund - you would be surprised how many people with kids in school are connected to Great Fund....which is a scam too.

I received it also, figured it was bogus.  Replied STOP and received "you will receive no further messages from us. Questions? Call 8663098187"

Text back Stop and you should not receive anymore text from that number

The same thing here...I do not recall having any sort of rebates! Scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recieved this text today 1/3/11. My T-Mobile online account information shows this text originating in Mauritania. I'll notify the DNC registry, but will not make any contact with messager, including the quit message as this may stimulate further contact.

Must be a robo call.  Just got the same text as others,  "Official Reward Notice: Call 8002880042 Now for Important Claim Information! Keep Game txt act active,txt stop 2 end".  Report to www.donotcall.gov

I just received same call from the same # but mine did not say "keep music txt act active", it said
"keep prize txt act active".
Did not respond.

I also received a text from 98019 stating: "Official Reward Notice: Call 8002880042 Now for Important Claim Information! Keep Recipe txt act active,txt stop 2 end".  I replied with a text of: "stop".  I received one back from 98019 stating: "You will receive no further messages from us. Questions? Call 8663098187".  I then called the number and heard a pre-recorded message that said I had registered with one of their "partner sites" and to reply 'stop' to their text message and I wouldn't receive anything further.  Then it disconnected.  I have no idea how they got my number as I ALWAYS decline marketing options.  I am also on the DNC list...however texting may just be a loop hole the list doesn't cover.

Got the same exact text message at 6:58 pm Central time from 98019. I called AT&T and they knew nothing about it and said I shouldnt be getting any charges on my bill. I didnt respond stop either. I'll just leave it alone and see what happens. How did those jerks get my #??!?
