The call I got turned out be a legitimate call from my First Bank credit card. The Fraud Prevention Program had blocked my credit card due to some large purchases I made for my home remodel. I think it's good that they are proactive with purchases made on the credit card to prevent the hassles that fraudulent purchases could cause.

I got the call today from 1-800-288-2020 saying they were from AT&T asking if we had any recent interruptions in our uverse/internet. I called at&t afterwards and found out it is a legit at&t customer service nhumber.

BEWARE! Received an e-mail saying there were 5 charges suspected. Checked my account, then checked here. Glad I did. I'm calling the company today to report this!
mersandra 2014-01-19 14:01:10 Unknown
Don't know if the number was legit. Called the credit card company using the number on the back of my card. They could not confirm the number but did verify that they were notifying customers about possible card fraud. Turns out that there were unauthorized charges on my card.

If this is a legit number, then they should call with a "Concerning card number..." Which my phone call didn't provide... Sure would help me track down which card they are speaking of...
Besides why am I getting a phone call from these people when I don't have a card with them?

I am Japanese and using ANA USA credit card.
When I was traveling to other places 400 miles far from my home, I got an email from the First National Bank of Omaha that said "We are contacting you because we have noted some unusual activity on your credit card account and would like to verify 5 transaction(s)."
I called the ANA Card USA customer service instead 1-800-288-4206. A Japanese staff connected 3 lines and helped me.
If you have ANA USA credit card, you should call the ANA Card USA customer service.

I'm going to go ahead and second what Truth said. The email may be legitimate, but to err on the side of caution would most certainly be the best move. It's better to take a few moments to call the number on the card and know for certain than to call the number in the email and end up someone coming here asking how to get money back after being scammed.
Jared 2013-10-10 15:43:47 Unknown
Legit. It's too bad the email doesn't look the part.
The-Truth 2013-10-09 16:11:03 Unknown
While this number may be a legitimate bank fraud number, NEVER NEVER NEVER give out any information to the caller or call back on this number. It's much too easy for scammers to spoof phone numbers these days. Imagine all the victims you can reel in by spoofing a legitimate fraud number. The person looks it up quickly while on the phone with you, sees that it's really a bank number, and willingly discloses their credit card number. To protect yourself and ensure that the caller is legitimate, not just the number, hang up and call your bank via the fraud reporting number on the back of your credit card. They'll be able to assist you if there's a real problem and alert you if it's not.

LEGIT! I received several calls and an email about fraud protection and to call their number back. They gave me a reference number to respond with as well. Being suspicious, I found the credit card they were referencing. Instead of calling back the number on the voicemail I instead called the 800 number on the back of the credit card and asked them if there was a problem. They said "yes". Someone charged my account $263.00 for a train ticket on a Norwegian rail train the day before. I said it wasn't me and so they cancelled my credit card and immediately issued me another one which will be mailed out today. Nice!

I got an e mail telling me I had suspicious use of the card. I called the number provided and gave some info, they looked at my account and said that there had been some activity in a foreign country. My wife is overseas and the details fit the scenario that I expected. I called the number on the back of the card and verified that the call was OK. It was. All is good.

This is indeed fraud alert with 1st Bank of Omaha card services. I appreciate them watching and questioning unusual charges before they become an issue.
If in doubt, always call the number on the back of the card, talk with the fraud department, and ask them the questions to determine if they really phoned. You'll know immediately if a hold has been placed on your card, and you can solve the problem with them on the phone.
Don't assume it's a scam. Follow up. Then post accurate information not assumptions.

legit-if these guys call you call them back. They identified fraudulant charges of $600 on my biz credit card. they shut off the card and called me to ask me some questions. they got me a new card in 7 days.
CharlyA 2013-05-31 14:40:15 Unknown
I can verify that. After reading this thread, I called the number on my card, punched in appropriate items, and was sent straight to the fraud department. Seems there are a number of card numbers that were somehow compromised.
James 2013-05-17 17:04:06 Unknown
Call was legit but verified it by calling the number on the back of my card.
Thanks
Steve 2013-04-15 16:50:38 Unknown
re fraud prervention, seems legit, but do not return call using this number. Instead, call the customer service phone number on the back of your credit card.
Ed 2013-03-22 13:17:56 Unknown
It's legit I called the number on my card they discovered a fraudulent charge from Australia ...that's why I only cc online your protected.
Leery 2013-02-25 13:57:00 Unknown
Based on the responses left here, I too called the number on the back of my card instead of the number on the email. It was indeed LEGIT. I had a hold on my card based on a fradualent charge the detected. My card was closed. I would definitely call if you get this message. Just call the number on the back of your card to be sure!
Allen 2013-02-05 21:40:02 Unknown
It's a legit phone number. I called the number on the card, and it linked in to the fraud department, and they confirmed that was one of their phone numbers; specifically to the fraud dept.

This was indeed a legit call, got a message on my home machine, they also called my cellphone & sent me an email. It ended up being a false alert, but I'm still glad that 1st National Bank's fraud department is so strict.
Toshi 2013-01-09 18:32:04 Unknown
Received the call as First National Bank Omaha which wokrs for JAL USA Card. It was a legitimate call.
Chip 2013-01-07 20:54:57 Unknown
This was Legit. Called me because i had back to back purchases from the same store. They had a hold on my card until I called back. I did call back using the number on the back of my card just to be sure though.
Keith 2012-12-08 15:08:26 Unknown
The Email looked out of place because it was text message showing the HTML editing. The number is for First National Bank Fraud Department. I recognize the person doing the voice over and that is a legit person that First National Bank uses.
Keith 2012-12-07 14:33:24 Unknown
I got an Email saying there were fraudulent charges made on my card. Well, the Zip code was wrong to the downtown office and I don't think they would send out an Email showing the formatting. The number they want me to call is not the same number on the back of my card.
Sherry 2012-12-02 22:12:39 Unknown
I got the same email and phone call from First Bank. So I called the number on the back of my card instead of the 800 number left in my messages. Turned out they were calling to verify a large purchase I had just made online. They had put a temporary hold on my account until talking to me. What a marvelous service this company is providing all of us!! But, from working at a bank, I can tell you always call a legit number instead of the one provided..just to be on the safe side. We see "way" too much fraud out there!!
Bill 2012-11-08 17:03:20 Unknown
THIS IS A LEGIT CALL
I got a call from this number and ignored it. They left a voicemail telling me they were from First Bank and that there was a fraudulent charge on my card. I called the number from the back of my card instead of the one they provided and I was redirected to the fraud department automatically. Seems as though there in fact was a fraudulent charge.
THIS IS A LEGIT CALL

I got a call from this number. The automated system said they were Bank of America fraud prevention. They asked for personal information. I called the number on the back of my card and they said they did not call.
Rob 2012-10-15 21:39:50 Unknown
Got this phone number in a fraud alert email.
I called the number on the back of my CC and the fraud alert is real.
There were two fraudulent purchases on my CC.
So, I can only assume the phone number is real.
TBone 2012-09-22 18:10:43 Unknown
Legit, First National Bank handles many CC's like my NRA card. Got a call, called back just giving them my name and zip, they gave me the information and could see other purchases that I had made. The one they questioned was not my purchase, so they shut down the card.
Hope this is helpful, I felt the same way because I thought I did not have any accounts with FNB.
So Kudo's to them for having my back.
