DVBC probably means DEAD BEAT VERIFICATION CALL.  Anybody owe any money to a collection agency??? This is a tactic used by collection agencies to find out whether or not you have a valid phone number and whether or not you are at that number.  If you have a call blocker, use it. If not, try speaking in a foreign language when you answer the phone.  Just a suggestion.

I received a call from the verification center from Samantha.  She said I won a $25,000 home remodeling contest I never entered.  Her mother is so proud.

I  received the exact call from the same extension. "Samantha" said I won or "may" have won something; she had "very good news" for me.

I called back from my work phone to investigate. "Samantha" was busy so someone else had to assist. She asked for my first and last name and state. I said I really want to know exactly where you got my name and what I entered. The operator said it could be from a number of places. I told her the state I live in and asked the options before I provide my name. THEN THE OPERATOR HUNG UP ON ME! Tee-hee.

This is exactly the message i received too!  It seemed legitimate at first, but i wanted to check it online.  Funny how the callback number, (888) 663 6415, differs from the number showing up on the caller ID (888) 300 5761.

Someone called me just now from gvc from the number above. Said press 1 and silly me thought I would to be curious. Apperently I am in the running for a 2013 Ford Explorer. The guy said he was with the verification company.  I even told the guy sorry, I am not giving any information. But now not sure what will happen since I pressed one and surely they have caller id. I will have to watch all of my credit cards now for sure. I can't believe I did that as I normally don't.

Some woman left a message saying she was from verification services and I had won a contest.  I don't enter contests, so figure it is some sort of scam.

The call I received was from the same 800-30-5761. Samantha's message excitedly informed me I won a $25,000.00 Home Makeover. The message instructions were to call their Verification Center at 800-663-6415 ext 322 . In the message, she also listed several places where I may have entered their Home Makeover Contest. I don't recall entering any contests, therefore did not return the call.

Weeeeeeeeee.... I have just won a contest that I never entered!!!!! Wow oh wow, I can't wait to give out my credit card number so that the nice folks who called me, shall give me a wonderful home makeover.
NOT!!!!!!!  Just another scammer calling ...... sigh (so many calls, so many scams).   I finally noticed that the scam calls come through in clumps .... so it definitely appears as if many of the scams are being run by the same core group of thieves (the phone numbers are usually spoofed, and the appear to come from ALL over the country.  Too many numbers to block).  This was part of a clump of calls, advertising a security system for seniors, and selling a car warranty.  Usually we get the card services or carpet cleaning scam calls ... but perhaps those calls, shall come through tomorrow?

I got the call this morning from "Laura" about a Ford Escape sweepstakes and that my name was "pulled" last night.  I do enter sweepstakes, but, as others have said, they would know where you entered (mall, online or whatever).  Also, I believe if I were a big winner, I would be addressed by name when they called.

I let my answering machine answer.
The message stated, "I am calling today because in the last few months you've entered a drawing at your local shopping mall, movie theater or grocery store for a $25,000 home makeover. This is to let you know that your card has been drawn and you are a winner, so return a call at 888-663-6415 ext. 322."
It was obviously a scam. Why don't these stop? I am sure this is illegal. I am on the DNC list.

My call came in from Samantha with a very upbeat personality and the message stated, "I am calling today because in the last few months you've entered a drawing at your local shopping mall, movie theater or grocery store for a $25,000 home makeover. This is to let you know that your card has been drawn and you are a winner, so return a call at 888-663-6415 ext. 322."

Really, how stupid can these people be?? I've never even seen such a drawing. Clearly a SCAM.

We received a similar message, from "June".  This is a completely bogus scam.  How could we ever have our name drawn to "win" when we NEVER enter anything, for the simple reason that we don't like giving out our personal information for marketing purposes!  Robomessages are illegal, we are on the DNC list, not that it matters.

888-648-2805, extension 481 was the callback number "June" left on her robomessage.  However, the caller ID showed 800-300-5761 as the incoming phone number.  This is probably a spoofed number for caller ID; we have had calls from other numbers also, with the same scam about a drawing and 'win'.  I am posting this on both phone numbers so people can cross-reference.  Hopefully others will do the same and we can build a reference of all the spoof numbers for this scam.  I hear the Department of Justice does very occasionally step in once a portfolio of numbers can be cross-referenced.  One can always hope.  How many people do these scammers annoy and deceive every day?

Dear "June," "Lorie" et al, Karma is a b!tch, just keep on scamming people this way.  Wish I could see when you get yours...  you are building quite the legacy.

Sure, except the call itself is illegal, and the callers are scammers trying to trick people out of money snd identity using some pretext. Perhaps you are one of the crooks on the other end?

No company name, just "June from verification center" with her annoying nails-on-the-chalkboard voice telling me I "won" a $50,000. makeover.

I may be ugly, but $50,000 for a makeover?  Really?? ... shouldn't cost more than $25,000 tops, and that includes the implants.

I could barely understand the chirpy msg except for the part of my name being drawn last night to win the makeover.  I always search for the # on the web, and thanks to all of you - I know what it's about without having to do the real work of calling them back. I didn't enter any sweepstakes either.
