Why doesn't anyone say anything when you call?  Whoever is calling hangs up when I answer.

Yeah I got it too ... today.

Called it back and it said

"Thank you for calling GlobalKnowledge"

Must be a rogue dialer or something.

I work for Global Knowledge.  This is a very simple process.  All you have to do is CALL THE NUMBER BACK, kindly let us know what is going on, kindly give us your number, we will be happy to look it up and then KINDLY ask us to not call or if you would like information on our training courses, we'll be glad to help you with that too.

If we get your voicemail, we WILL leave you a message.  We are required to leave one message on your VM if we do get it.

(notice "Kindly?")  We are working professionals too trying to help out other working professionals in their IT industries!

Mike,

If you work for Global Knowledge maybe you can tell us why we are getting these calls and why it hangs up a few seconds after we answer.

The simplest process would be for your company to stop calling people and then hanging up. This sounds like a scam. I've never had a LEGITIMATE vendor call several times a day without speaking to me. Your process is annoying and time consuming especially since I never asked you to call me in the first place.

Thanks Mike, but all I get is someone calling and no VM.  Will call GK and ask Kindly as it is my cell.

Called them back today and got a person (buy hitting "1"), and he said he would remove me and they would not be calling again. He found my name once I gave him the number. Lets hope it works.

Yes, we are no longer required to leave voice messages because they never got returned and were a waste of our time!

We do sometimes use automatic dialers when calling our customers and prospective customers as well.  We are not calling to demand you hand over your wallet right there.  We want to assist you with information (if you need any) on IT training courses.

Most of the people we call are members of our partners websites such as Techrepublic, TechTarget, TechWeb, etc.  If you download a whitepaper from any one of those sites, and you have your legitimate phone number on your account with those sites, they will refer you to us as someone who might be interested in pursuing IT training courses.

If you would like to call back our number, feel free. Just please be nice about it!  We are working professionals helping other professionals with their careers.

Another tip:  if you are a member of any of our partner websites, and you don't want calls each time you download a whitepaper or do a webinar, log into your account and change the phone number to something like all 5's, all 9's etc and you will still get access to those valuable resources.

Thanks!

Got a call on Monday from 1-800-298-9920 at 3:18 PM CST,
a call yesterday from 1-800-307-3588 at 4:49 PM CST, and
a call today from 1-800-316-1343 at 12:47 PM CST.

I picked up the last call, and no one answered.  The first two did not leave a VM. These calls are going to my cell phone.

I don't remember signing up for any white paper, and I don't agree with Mike. There is no reason for anyone to be nice to Global Knowledge if a company constantly calls with 1-800-numbers and not leave any VM or not answer a phone call.  Anyone has the right to be rude from being bombarded with phone calls during work and not show any phone etiquettes.

Why do we have to call Global Knowledge to tell them that we don't want your cars anymore when they want our business?   This is not one professional speaking to another.  Your calls are at the level of a telemarketer and debt collector, just trying to find ways to your hands inches away from money.

Got this call, and an identical experience from 800-294-3920, one a day after the other:

answering - caller hangs up without saying anyting/playing any recording
call back - recorded female voice saying they were sorry they missed me when they called back "in response to your request" that I never made. Offered to remove my number from the list if I typed it in. No way to get to an operator. I didn't type my number in, and after a while it said they were forwarding it for manual removal.

I dont know what he was calling about.  My wife answered the phone and he requested to talk to me. when asked what about he repeated his question - and my wife said "he's not interested" and hung up. (I've asked my wife to screen these type of calls if she gets one)

PS I am going to call your office at least once a day and just be fun just for you.

I just got a call from 800-307-3588.  It was from some Illinois State Senator. Can't remember her name.  In any case it was about some Nov. 1 event for a candidate for US Senator, David Hoffman.  So, the number probably doesn't belong to Global Knowledge.  It's probably some robo dialer calling service that various companies hire to promote their message. Thanks to the Senator's message, I think I'll put Hoffman on my list of people NOT to vote for in the upcoming election.

A couple of things to consider about calls from telemarketers:

1)  The DoNotCall list does NOT cover every possible calling organization; there are rules that allow certain ones to call you regardless.

2)  Anytime that you sign up for something, your name goes into a general list and may be passed on unless you "opt out" for such usage.  Unfortunately, not every organization is reliable in giving you the "opt out" choice when you sign up.  I would go back to the ones that you want to do business with and recheck your account.  If it is not obvious, then call their customer support and make sure that you know what your status is.

3)  Once you contact any organization to inquire why they are calling, you go on their list and good luck being taken off of it.  Supposedly, you have the right to tell them not to call and they should take you back off of the list.  However, the reality is that the government will not do anything unless they get an awful lot of calls about this.  Even then, they mostly pass the information back to the state where the business is licensed...and the state probably isn't going to do anything that they don't have to.

We just do not answer calls from any numbers that we are not familiar with.  If we feel that the number is one we want to deal with, then we enter it into our phone with a name/id that we can recognize.  Just a thought.

Got an unsolicited call from Dawn @ Global Knowledge asking if I needed any training this year or next. Problem is, since September of 2009 I don't think they're allowed to make solicitation calls like this any more, and can face a pretty stiff government fine if complaints are made against them.  My caller ID has the phone number they called from (800-307-3588) as well as the call-back number they gave me should I want to call them back (866-259-6742).

Re Techrepublic, I'll follow up with them separately to find out why my information was handed out to others. They obviously don't take privacy seriously.

Doing business with someone does NOT automatically give them permission to sell your number and email address. Phone and email were required for signup, but I never gave my permission for spam. Scumbags!

I believe I ended up on the calling list due to going to Cisco Live this year and them scanning my badge.
The problem is that they call, I answer, and a second later they hang up...No representative comes on the line at all. This has happened repeatedly each day for me. So if you really are trying to follow up with potential customers, yadda yadda, I would suggest you guys look into a different system...

I work for Global Knowledge and here's the scoop:

You may have downloaded a whitepaper from one of our partner websites (techrepublic, techtarget, techweb, etc) and it was related to the services we offer, which is IT Training.  We call to merely follow up and see if there is any information we can help you with for IT training.  We have a lot of business and management training as well.

If you do not want any calls from us, don't put in your legitimate number into Techrepublic or any of our partner websites!  simple as that!  You will still get access to those whitepapers and webseminars.

Yes, we sometimes use automatic dialers as the inquiries/followups are much easier to manage.  Yes we know about the delay between the time the call connects and the time it comes to me or one of my fellow reps.  We know it's annoying too!  But just be patient, someone WILL talk to you and all you have to do is KINDLY let us know if you do or do not want info and we'll understand.  We are not pushy by any means.  We just want to help out with information on our training courses and if you have any goals you want to pursue in the future.

We are at www.globalknowledge.com if you want to see what we offer.

Thanks!

Requested some info from Global Knowledge and have been repeatedly spammed by them.  Gave them my home address and am now getting junk mail there.  I am also getting those automated calls on my cell phone (wrong decision there - should have given the general business number).  Not very pleasant to deal with.  Won't be recommending their services at work now!!

global knowledge... I signed up for one of their white papers (mistake) thinking it might have some good information (stupid assumption). then I ask them to stop calling me all the time (mistake) and I thought they would, then I got extremely upset and yelled and screamed at them (dumbass assumption), thinking that would stop the calls. Now I have to spend some time and do something more serious.

DO NOT EVER GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO GLOBAL KNOWLEDGE OR ANY COMPANY CONNECTED WITH THEM. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF B****OLES.

I answered and waited on the phone for a few seconds, it was a call from Global Knowledge that I had signed up for some information a few weeks ago for some CCNA information.
And you know something else, right around the same time I signed up for that CCNA info, I started getting spam email to my office email.. For the past 3 years I have had this email address, I have NEVER received spam to my work email.. now, all of a sudden, the calls AND emails... That's lame.

I have received multiple calls from this number and when I return the call, it offers the same message as the first commenter above. Not sure if I should put my information in or not - I figure they already have my number - they called ME. If anyone has put their number in to be 'removed' - please post a note on what happened next.
