I answer they dont speak, I dont answer and they keep constantly calling me.  Now I dont even get a chance to answer as the number calls literally enough for it ring once and then call is disconnected.  How do I make them stop? From reading other posts it seems like they are Universities calling to give info?  I have not requested any information from any university and I am new to the US from the UK and this is a new telephone number.  Please can someone help?

They are the University of Maryland University College.  Honestly, I'd laugh at someone who had that on their resume.

This number was calling my phone at least 6 times per day. This number has just made it onto my cell phone's "Reject Call List", thus this call is rejected everytime it attempts my phone #. I didn't even know I could do that on my phone! (LG Vu)

I signed up for information from the college; I was expecting to get something mailed to me. I haven't received anything in the mail, but they call my phone at least 3 times per day. I know I'm not going to this college. If someone doesn't answer every day for months then they should stop calling.

Superman you should research before you post negatively about a University. Many of these distance learning schools are as you say but University of Maryland is not one of them. They are a well recognized school and very well respected within the education community.

This number calls my house daily and as soon as I say hello it hangs up.  Sometimes it calls up to five times a day.  I have chosen my online college and for those numbers that call and answer I tell them to take me off their list and they have respected that.  This number does not respect because it does not even allow me the chance to say take me off your call list.

You really don't know what you are talking about, they buy your information from job sights. Paying attention has nothing to do with it,they are in business to gather information for these schools. These job sight claim they have a position available and when you go to apply these schools all ready have form with all your information filled out. Pro's all right at the art of scam. Setting up a job web to gather information to then call you.It does not matter how many times you tell them NO they just have some else call. So before you come on this sight with information I think YOU need to pay attention to the reality of these schools, you but kisser$$$$ It's all about MONEY That is where they are pro's.

I have nothing against the Univ. of Maryland or any other real institution of higher learning. However if they are calling people over and over and not respecting those people's request to stop calling then that is wrong. I dont believe the Univ. of Maryland is behind these calls. If they are then shame on them. But more likely this is one of those fly-by-night for-profit institutions. The Univ. of Phoenix is more likely the culprit. Not that they are not legit but they are more likely to try these tactics to recruit new students since they are for-profit. And as another has said, be very careful where you give your phone and email. Sounds to me like you got onto a for-profit school calling list. The only known way to get off a list if you signed up for it (whether you knew it or not) is to send a written do-not-call demand to each caller. This is why you must protect your identity at all times. Good luck.

The only reason they would contact is if you signed up for info. University of Maryland is a legit university. Get with the program sir.

Well, first of all, The University of Maryland IS a "professional university." The only reason they would have to call you is if you signed up for information for the University of Maryland online degree program. In the future, pay attention to what you're doing when you enter your telephone number on a website.

I was receiving the same non-stop phone calls like others on here, many from University of Phoenix.
The 1-800-319-7163 number seems to belong to University of Maryland. I also got another call from 847-785-8952, belonging to Colorado Technical College or something of that sort. I wrote all the numbers down and double check before I answer to make sure they're the numbers I found listed here. Anyway, the only way I've been able to make any of these calls stop is to simply answer, ask who's calling first, and immediately request they take my number off their call list. I know they got my number from a misleading job ad - so word to the wise on that. Hope this helps out some other people who keep getting harassed by these "professional universities." Yeah right, professional bs.
