I've been getting calls from this number for the past two weeks and gotten several messages left on my machine.  They are always from "Jessica" wanting to talk to "Ebony" regarding my car loan application.  I've called them myself at least twice and told them to take my number off their computers, as there is no one named Ebony here (I've had this number nearly 8 years) and that I definitely did not apply for any kind of loan.  Twice they've called when I've been here and answered and told them to take my number off.  Last time I called them, they told me they were removing my number from the file, but I just got a call 5 minutes ago.  I yelled at the person who eventually came on the line - I'm sorry, I know it's not their fault, but I am SICK to DEATH of getting called by these idiots!!!!

I can guarantee that when I *do* look for a new car, I won't be going to them for a loan!

Anyone know where I can report them?  After 4 or 5 times of telling them to stop calling, it is getting ridiculous.

Has anyone asked to talk to a supervisor?  I've told them over and over again myself.  Every month they call me and ask for Timothy and every month I tell them he's not here and to take me off of their list.

I just called and asked how my number got on this list. They say that if you fill out an application for a loan on-line (like at eLoan.com) it gets forwarded to other people and THAT'S how you get on their list. At first they wanted my full name, but I told her I did not want them to have that info. She then asked for only the last 4 of my SSN, which I gave her since it wasn't the whole number. She claimed they would "decline" my application in order to remove my name, but who knows if they will. I asked for a supervisor, but the woman I talked to sidestepped that and did the removal herself. I hope this worked...

I too keep getting calls.  I'm going to call and request they stop.  However, per Theresa D who posted above on 16 Feb 2008, she states that the company would "decline" her application in order to remove her name.  That's a HUGE NO NO, and against the law.  A decline for the application will now show up on ALL 3 credit bureau's files.  That's obviously NOT something anyone wants, as it is now considered a negative strike against you.  If they offer to do that to you, SAY NO, and demand to speak to a manager.  If they tell you it won't show up on your credit report, tell them you want it in writing.  Record the call if you have to.  If it then shows up on your report, you have all available methods to sue for credit fraud.  Don't let them "decline" you.

Hi:

I think i was a victim of a loan scam. Carelessly and without thinking due to financial difficulties, I fell victim to giving my bank information for two different lenders only to realize it was a scam, so i didn't go through with it. However, now i am getting endless calls and emails. they're a whole bunch of different 800 numbers and they are calling me at work & home (another huge problem). What do i need to do to stop this and prevent identity theft? Nothing has been taken yet, thank goodness, but i'm thinking i could be in danger. Any advice?

Thank you.

they just called me this afternoon and left the same message  ... the number came up as 800-323-8160 and the message was "this is jessica with the loan center regarding your credit application for car financing" and it mentioned the same number to call back.  i did not...but i'm for sure reporting them to the donotcall list.  (it doesn't do any good but it does make me feel better).

They all every day or nite. I applied for a car loan on the internet - carloan.com

They tried to hook me up with their "representative." I researched the guy and found out he was some Ford dealer's finance guy. I already bought a Buick Lucerne from another dealer 2 weeks ago. These guys still call every nite.

I get the same call constantly...I screen and never pick up unless I know who it is.  They leave messages though all the time.  The only thing I've done in the last few months is actually buy a different car and purchased a scooter as well.  So, why in heck would I want another car?  I don't know where these people get your info., but it's kind of freaky knowing that much info is floating around out there.

Got a call from this number on my CELL phone..........called back, said I had applied for a car loan......Person who answered talked extremely fast and was very hard to understand.  This is ridiculous.  There ought to be some way to stop these type of calls, especially to a cell phone.

Same thing as mentioned above.  I went onto LendingTree.com for some competitive rates.  Since then it has been nothing but endless emails and phone calls from "loan specialists".  They want me to travel 30 minutes to see a "loan specialist" and to check out the inventory of cars available.  I told them I already had a car picked out and asked why I couldn't speak to this "specialist" in person.  they said they would transfer me to him, but as you guessed it, he never came on the line.  This is all in one day and I keep getting an automated message from "Jessica" to call the # back.  Three times already today.  This has got to stop.

Here is the deal.  We applied with Lending Tree online to find a good rate on a car loan.  That same day the phone started ringing even before offers were in on our Lending Tree page.  Shook Auto, AKA, Sholtz Finance something, called saying they had our car ready.  We had been dealing in our hometown and already had our car picked out on the local lot.  Thinking nothing of the call the guy set up an appointment for us to ?see? the car.  Well, we had already seen the car and picked it out.  So when they gave me a call back number and the area code was outside ours and actually about 35 miles north.  I specifically asked the guy if they were affiliated with our local lot where we had been dealing and he said, ?Kind of?.

Today, after we already had financing they called and left a message on the machine to contact them.  I was dealing with Capitol One and took for granted it was they.  Well, called the number gave them my Capitol One reference number and they said they had no record.  They then asked me if I applied via ?carloan.com? which I had not.  He said ?Oh OK, who did you apply with? and I stated Lending Tree.  He said ?Oh, that?s one of our associates, please hold and I?ll transfer you to the proper office?.  Guess what?  That office ended up being the same 3 companies named above.

They never did place an offer on the Lending Tree site.

Bottom line, not good business practices.  It sure looks like an attempt to do an end run to me.
