Call ABC 7 on your side to help investigate this as they are very good in exposing irresponsive services who let their customer suffer. I also got the same call but When I double checked with DISH they confirmed its fraud.

This is really a fraud. They are offering 6 months free subscription if you pay 6 months charges advance for dishnetwork. I lost about 600$. Dishnetwork does not care about it.

I am glad I called DISH before falling into this trap. Call ABC 7 on your side to get them investigate this and highlight the DISH network security hole.

I really hope you actually sent this letter to Dish Network, because they sure aren't going to read it here.

I want to send a complain about the absolutely "Naive Security followed by Dish" system which caused a fraud to happen on my account today.

My 4 digit security code till this morning was default and I never logged in or changed it from its default at "1234". I am finding out that lot of customers are also in same boat with me, because it is seldom required.

A fraud company this morning calls me from 800-326-1324 saying they are calling from Dish network loyalty program and parallely logs in to mydish.com and hits forget online ID and feeds in my phone number and the default security code "1234" which seems to be their MO in this scam for everyone.

Next your system naively gives them my onlineid, instead of emailing it to the default email id like every other system worth their money does !!

After that they hit the forgot password link and it immediately asks for the same security code "1234" which gives them an option to change my password immediately which gives them access to my online account.

They used this account to tell me what my monthly bill is, add cinemax/HBO to my account saying they are turning it on as part of a deal specially for me. It causes me to check my TV and think this is legitimate DISH network call.

Next they cancel my monthly auto pay and tell me that I need to go to Walmart and buy a cash card from MoneyPak for 6 months bill which will give me next 6 months automatically free, which is the deal that if I do this then I get my dish bill cut in half + free cinemax and HBO

Then they called me again to make sure I have the card number so they can get the money. This evening, thinking its too good to be true and before giving them the money, I imediately called DISH network and found out the the whole thing is a SCAM as I suspected. I immediately changed my password and the 4 digit security code so it cannot be reused again.

This is the most NAIVE SECURITY I have ever seen and I just googled the phone number I got called this morning which is 800-326-1324 and found that a lot of other dish subscribers were scammed as well.

I HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU ARE ASKING FOR A LAWSUIT IF YOU DO NOT FIX YOUR SECURITY PROCEDURES FOR PASSWORD RESET AND MAKE CUSTOMERS CHANGE THEIR SECURITY CODE MANDATORY INSTEAD OF LEAVING IT DEFAULT AND AS SIMPLE AS 1234..

A scammer contacts a satellite television subscriber claiming to be a representative of the satellite company.  The scammer will request a number of account-specific details, and will make a pitch to the victim that they can offer increased channel options and a year?s worth of service for a discounted one-time fee (often around $250-$400).
While Scammer #1 is on the phone with the victim, a second scammer calls the satellite company to upgrade the victim?s services using the personal information Scammer #1 received.  This prompts a service request for the satellite company to send out a technician for an install of the upgraded service.  Meanwhile, the victim is instructed to send a Green Dot ?MoneyPak? prepaid debit card to a third-party address to pay for the year?s commitment.
Since the receiver of the money is a scammer with no actual affiliation with the satellite company, the victim will start receiving notices from the company that their account is past due.
Because the victim has received an upgraded package, he would have little indication that he has been scammed and that his account with the satellite company is not paid.  If the victim refuses to pay the actual bills (believing that he has already paid for a year?s services), a satellite provider could also add on an early termination fee for the cancellation in addition to late payments and equipment fees.

fraud, they hacked your dish network online account and got all the info about your bill, dont believe this scam.  dish network doesn't care this is happening.

they are pretending to call from dish network and want you to buy a green dot card to pay your bill, so you can get discount. I am out of $220. please beware,
