Received a message on my cell phone from someone at ext. 245 and it sounded completely ominous - I could tell immediately this was not a nice person. I called back and got a voicemail, asking to leave day and evening numbers - the better to harrass me with, I suppose. I do have student loans and am in school, so my loans are not in default nor due to be paid. I also have a daughter who graduated not that long ago, and she had a deferment which probably just ended - so the call may have been regarding her instead of me. Hard to know. Based on everything I've read, I will definitely not be leaving any messages with phone numbers for them, and probably will not call back - I'll let them try calling me again.

Look up "Harrass".  Dumbass.  Calling does not constitute harrassing.   Cursing.  Calling before 8 am or after 9 pm ..Things of this nature are harrassing.   Check out something called the "FDCPA" Public law 95-109 for the definitions.

Being an uneducated idiot is simple...Isn't it?

If you have ever talked with any of the callers you will be given their name.  If you ask for their extension you will be given that too.  This way you don't have to make vague comments about "who's" calling you.   If you were called and it isn't about an issue for you then you were listed as a reference by whoever the issue "is" about.  That said the business issue is "that" persons business, not yours.  You were left by that person as a means to get word to them to call.   If you call blindly and wont say why your calling of course not information will be given.  Get some names.  They leave there name and extention number on the message you called back from.  Keep in mind, in most cases, all calls are recorded so if your reporting BS claims or statements of harrassment or "meaness" they are easily disproved.

This has got to be a scam!! This company called a friend of mine on her home phone and said I had given her as a reference. Left nothing but a name and a number different from the one on caller id. When I called them back, they refused to talk to me. A Don Mason asked for my husband instead. I asked what the call was about and he told me to just let him talk to him that he would know who he was. My husband told him that he didnt know who he was or that he had never attended the university he was calling about. Don got very rude and refused to answer any questions as to why they researched and knew so much personal info about us. Don only said that he had found us on facebook. Mine and my friends is LOCKED with no phone numbers on our profile, to have gotten a wrong number, he sure did his homework. CREEPY!!

Anyone to afraid to call from a message left must be hiding or knows they owe something.  Call from a pay phone for god sakes...Be an adult and find out why someone is calling you.  Grow up people.  If you don't like the person who answers, hang up and call back and ask for their supervisor or another worker.  I work at this company and have for 20 years...I assure you there are no scams going on.   Laws protecting "you" prevent the company name and reason for calls from being left on machines or with uninvolved parties.  Thank your Congressman for that one.  We'd love to tell you why we're calling.

You know for those of you upset that they do not leave their company name on the voicemail, there is something called the FDCPA, read up on it. That is why messages are vague.  They cannot say anything else.  It is illegal. I would recommend calling back because it is not a scam.

I have received a couple of calls from this number very recently.  The man leaves a message with his extension and a reference #.  I've been reluctant to call him back because I'm not sure if it's a scam or not.  The bizarre thing is I had 1 student loan, and paid it off in March.  The calls I have received from this guy have been since the loan has been paid off.

Got a voice mail message from a Judy Reed.  Said it was very important that I call back at 1-800-333-6787 and gave me a reference number to use.  Also said it was in regards to a Spencer Craven.  I've never known anyone by the name Spencer Craven and have never been to college or had a student loan.  I called the number, spoke with this Judy Reed. When I said I have no idea who Spencer Craven is, she said she would remove my name from "the list" and hung up. I tried to call back to find out more information and got a voice mail message asking me to provide my name, phone number, ref. number, and my social security number.  SCAM! Regardless of other postings here, they are scammers!

Received a voicemail message yesterday from this number.  Bill Mack left a reference number and this 800 number to call back, but no compnay name.  The name he's calling about isn't either my husband or I, but is the name of his deceased father and his son.  Interesting, he called my husband's cell phone, a number that is rarely given out/used.  We've decided not to call him back; see if he calls again.  For his sake I hope he's not nasty; cause he hasn't met nasty on the phone till he meets us!

A womam continues to call at least once a week from this number.  I let the call go to voicemail every time. She only provides her phone number and a reference number.  She doesn't sound mean or angry and never provides the nature of her call so I don't know what she wants.

They kept calling asking for my wife by name. A woman said her name was Karen Adams and told me to tell my wife to call back at ext 237. My wife later called and a recorded message said to leave her and name Social Security number (sounds like a scam to me). My wife didn't give any info and finally later reached a real person. This person said they were calling in reference to my wifes daughter. They are either looking to steal someones identity or they're a scummy collection agency (or both).

No this company is NOT legitimate. Most people don't know what loans they took out and for how much, so this company can easily tell them that a loan (usually a Perkins loan in this company's case) has defaulted and that they owe interest. They tried to convince me that I had defaulted on a $1,000 Perkins loan that I did take. They also said that I owed interest on this loan. This was the first step for this company to reconsolidate my loans through them. However, the company had no idea I was a full-time grad student at a new university and thus had not defaulted. Also, contacting the federal government showed that I had neither defaulted nor owed the $306.17 interest this company falsely claimed.

Be sure to inform yourself about your financial situation before dealing with this aggressive and misleading company.

Listen people, this company is legit. I had a federal Perkins loan in default and I owed unpaid tuition to my college. Amy Fisher helped me consolidate my Perkins loan and I set up payment arrangements on my tuition bill. For all of you that say this is a prank you are wrong. I desperately needed to get back into school and she helped me do that. I could not have gotten back into school without her she is my hero!!!!

This place really helped me get my Perkins loans cleared up!   "They" don't consolidate them.  They help you find places to get them consolidated.  It was super easy!   I was doubtful at first but they are the real deal.

Ignore the previous comment. They do NOT work for the Feds. They are scam artists looking to make money by getting personal info. If they were a valid collection agency, there would identify who they are with and there would be identifying information when you call them.

These people work for a location out of Texas. They are collectors for the Federal Student Loan department. The FEDs gave these people rights to harass anyone whom owes back money on student loans. They can also submit for wage garnishment, and keep your tax returns, to satisfy the student loan debt.

Has called repeatedly over the past week - including my home phone. Definitely moving on to scare tactics now. The voicemail "Chris" left today said "This isn't going to go away, so you better call back and talk to me". He does not state what company he is with, why he is calling etc. He only gives his first name and extension number 216.

The call back number he provides is 1-800-333-6787

Kept calling me about a student loan that I 'owe' which is funny as I never even went to the school they are claiming I owe a loan to.  I finally had my number changed and now they have started harrassing me via e-mail.   Don't believe a thing they say, they are trying to rip you off.
