Yes, Tenet, and they absolutely ignore both information [I am NOT that person; I don't KNOW that person] and requests NOT to call at odd hours. For a bill that WAS mine, they dunned so incessantly, again refusing ALL information that wasn't "Yes, I just won the lottery; I will pay it all right now!" To my, "I live on Social Security. I HAVE NO ASSETS. I WILL eventually pay what my Blue Cross didn't cover," they attempted in-depth quizzes about whether I was in a lawsuit, expecting a tax return, going to inherit money, etc., and ignored every answer. To remain polite, I would end the call. Began filtering EVERY call and will not answer them; my very assertive brother has arranged $25 a month, and they have to leave me alone. He says that if you can arrange $10 a month, they have to leave you alone. TENET did the same thing to my nephew; he arranged the $10 a month and got them off his back. When he recovered [which took a long time] and could return to work, he saved up and paid off the rest all at once. . . they were quite surprised.

Get calls from this number and same thing...no one there or a voice mail message saying to call another number.  Sure it's from an old hospital bill my insurance paid over a year ago.

They call me as well and I haven't been to the hospital in over 5 years, at the time I paid my deductible on the spot since that's how Central Carolina Hospital conducts business, however they (CCH) claim I owe a little over $40 from that visit, however they refuse to send me a statement outlining what the charge is for and the bills that I have from CCH say paid by insurance with 'no balance left owing'.

I wonder if this company "Central Financial Control" is culling old hospital files somehow and attempting to make a profit off patients for items that took insurance companies extra time to pay, i.e. things that had to be filed more than once?

I am amazed at how many people have no idea what something is. But they threaten people with it.

The "Do Not Call List" is for non-requested sales or other soliciting calls. It has nothing to do with collections or any other non-soliciting calls. You should know the details of what you sign up for and what you are threatening people with.

It is perfectly legal for a collection agency to call you about a debt that they can show they believe you or someone else they believe is at that phone number owes unless you have notified them that they are not allowed to call that number again and you have to be able to prove it and having someone say they heard you say it does not work. A Certified Letter with a Delivery Signature is about the only thing that works. Sending a letter FedEx or UPS can work if they get a delivery signature but that does not always work because FedEx and UPS may get one signature for multiple packages and they can claim they did not get that package.

There are limits to when they can call you but with cell phones and VoIP Phones they can avoid some of those laws. Check what the state laws are (from the states website not some idiot that sells you bad information on the web) for the state you are in and the state that the area code for your phone is assigned to if different. That's how you can hurt them if they violate those laws and you file complaints with the proper state agency.

And just so it was said, the Better Business Bureau has no authority Civil or Criminal against a business or anyone else. The worst thing that they can do is tell people that they should not do business with them, take a complaint on them or refuse them membership. The Collection Agencies really don't care about the BBB and all you are doing is providing the collection caller Entertainment.

It won't do any good to report them to the FCC, as they have nothing to do with third party collection agencies EXCEPT in situations when they are harassing a non-debtor.

Bottom line is, Tenet has violated the terms of their contract with your insurer by balance billing you. They are paid a contracted amount which was agreed upon by both parties when their contract was negotiated and you need to file an expedited complaint with your insurer to let them know Tenet has turned you over to a collection agency.

They tried to get me out of money by doing a balance billing scam; I ended up going to a hospital to get treatment for a bike-car accident. My insurance company paid it, but insurance companies often pay discounted rates to hospitals. Sometimes, people try to get money out of you by sending you a partial bill - the total amount minus the amount paid by the insurance company

laughed said he didnt care and hung up on me, I have filed a complaint with the FCC. I have also dug up some information on the company......
I would recommend everyone who gets calls from them to contact the FCC directly at http://esupport.fcc.gov

These b*****ds have been calling my work cell phone at least once a week for months. I have told them repeatedly the guy they are looking for does not have this number anymore, if he ever did. The always act surprised and say they won't call back. My guess is they have a good laugh after hanging up. I don't know what they think they stand to gain by continuing to harass me. I have stopped answering calls from that number but they have not stopped calling. What they're doing should be illegal.

If you have insurance which has paid and supplement which pays the rest, why do they turn it over to a collection agency.  Too lazy to do their jobs?  You can talk to the original debtor until your tongue falls out and they pay no attention to you.

I pay a healthy sum for supplement insurance and can't pay them both and shouldn't have to.  If a person can't do their job, they need to lose it and give it to someone who can actually do it.

Ah they aren't that bad honestly.  I had them call me about a past due medical bill for a surgery I needed.  I should have just paid Tenet, but alas, I let it slip.

So they contacted me about $700 that I owed them and I negotiated with them and got a 40% settlement.  i ended up paying them about $300 to let the rest go.  I even went down to their offices because they said they "Needed it today" otherwise they couldn't do the deal.  They have a nice office next to Angels Stadium in Orange County.

It's legitimate.  It's not shady.  I work in the collection field and trust me these guys are ok.  I mean it's not good they are calling but as far as collectors go, they are not that bad.  Just pay your bill, or do what I did, save some money and get a discount!!  (only works if you have all the money up front tho.  You can't make payments towards a discount)

FRAUD ALERT!!!!   BEWARE!!!! I believe this company is completely fraudulant. they claim i owe on a hospital bill, which the hospital has no record of, they also claim to have sent many letters to an address that i lived at 8 years ago, which is funny because i visited the e.r. last year and ALL the other charges were sent to my current address. I was told i had to remit payment over the phone immediately by credit card or checking account number(something i will never do and suggest noone else do). it's all just too fishy. she was given my current address to send the paperwork to and after a month, still no actual letters, just harrassing phone calls.

I'm so glad to see your info here, I also live in Palm Springs and had to take my son on occasion to that hospital.  Although I was treated well at the hospital...the calls from Tenet began immediately thereafter.  I have a $50.00 co-pay and everything else was covered by insurance.  They are very unprofessional at this place and possibly illegal collection tactics.  I won't even respond -- I will pay the $50.00 within the next month, but I won't speak to those people.
