More of the same. My bill dated 01/03/14 for a single call in November 2013 - $7.13, 2 minutes long. Called the real Sprint call center and talked to someone that advised I call the number on the statement and state I was "disputing" the charge.  I left a message on a recording. Not paid, never got a follow-up billing.  So this ridiculous scam has continued into 2014.

Received a bill for over $28.00, contacted SPRINT to complain that these services had been cancelled well over a year ago...SPRINT has no knowledge of our account. They checked their history for the last ten years-nothing. We were sent paperwork from Sprint to use their toll/long distance billing service which we accepted (past 4-5 years) and have paid the bills that were never more than $8.00 or so. But we cancelled their service after we got a second cell phone...or so we thought.
Keep the bills they sent, since they are using the USPS to mail out the bills fraudulently they are committing a Federal crime, and also misrepresenting themselves as the real SPRINT and collecting state and local taxes. Contact SPRINT directly, ask for the Fraud dept., they really want to get this jerk. Good Luck. ABM.

My boyfriend received a bill from Peak Communications (we'd never heard of them before) for a "monthly fee" of $6.58.  The hilarious part is that the phone number in question is in my name!  I called my real service provider (AT&T) to make sure nothing fishy was going on with my account, was told the company was probably fraudulent, googled the billing inquiries number and found you all. I suspected it was a scam to start with because the month this alleged "monthly fee" is for is two months ago PLUS  the info for the charge reads 00:00AM, Type: 0, Min: 0.  So bogus.  I was worried too about a bogus company sending this to collection, but I'll just file a complaint with the BBB instead.

Our business received a bill from WiMacTel in the amount of $27.70 for a 3 minute COLLECT call that was supposedly made to the business. When I looked it up, the company is a Canadian company with a billing address on the invoice from Florida. I couldn't find any Florida based info on WiMacTel's website.

Our business not accept collect calls, which was the tip off here, oh and the $9.00+ per minute charge was a clue as well. Also found copies of Sprint bills online that looked exactly like my bill.

Thanks for the posts, these help!

Received "Sprint" bill sometime in June for a call supposedly made from my home phone to Ben Lomond, CA. I don't even have Sprint much less long distance on my home phone plus I don't know anyone in Ben Lomond, CA. I had called the number on the bill, 800-349-1923, and was told I owed the money. Said they were a third party billing agency for companies and not even Sprint. I've been called a couple times in return to try and collect. Haven't heard from them in awhile. Then today, I received, on my home phone which is the number in question, a call from a collection agency. They wanted personal info from me before they would tell me who they were collecting for. I refused and they hung up on me. I wonder if call today is related to this. I thought maybe they'd gone away. I reported the "Sprint" bill, which was mailed, to USPS Mail Fraud department. I also filled out consumer complaint form and sent to my attorney general's office. I don't know what else to do. Hopefully, this doesn't affect me or my credit in anyway.

My dad got a bill today from Peak Communications and asked me if I knew anything about the company. The bill looked very suspicious. I didn't know that it now costs $5.95 plus tax to call yourself for 0.00 minutes, yes it says he called his number FROM his number. I called the "billing inquiries" # and the message didn't even say the name of the company (hint #3). I tried to locate the company online, but could not find a Peak Communications with the same contact # on their website. Of course I searched the # and found all of these other smart people who realized this was a scam. Starting the shredder now....

I actually didn't get a call, but received a bill yesterday, 1/28, stating that I owed 27.08 from 11/27/2012.  There were charges for 2 calls, 1 at 7:27pm and 1 at 7:30pm for $13.54 a piece.  Of course, I was livid when I saw the bill considering I don't have Sprint, nor do I have long distance.  The # on the bill says to call 1-800-349-1923 and office hours from 8:30am-5pm EST.  So, I called this morning and of course the # kept stating that all the phones were busy and to leave a message.  I did not leave a message, but I continued to call until I was able to get a representative.  I provided the information on the letter and the customer service lady told me that the operator patched over the calls.  She sees that I do not have long distance, but I do not have a block on my phone.  I proceeded to tell her that I dispute the bill and she said that she would put it in the dispute file.  I her to remove the bill and she said no, but she can reduce it.  I proceeded to tell her that I'm not paying the bill and she hung up on me as well.  Not that I keep calling, I cannot get anyone to answer the phone.  I have filed a compaint with Federal Trade Commission, which was suggested by one of the respondents above.

We received the invoice  in the mail. I am unsure how this service got my name, address and such.  The invoice stated/claimed  that I placed a call  in April 201, 4 months ago,  from a local phone number to the same local phone number, 0 minutes used and charged me 5.95 plus "tax". Pretty outrageous.   I called the 800 number and had the same mysterious " dial an extension message"  no name or company information provided on the greeting.  Left a message. I have a small business. It appears that the company Peak Communications is a scam. How they obtained my name address and some phony account number remains a mystery. I looked at my AT&T bills - no related changes. I have not looked at the Sprint site but will call them today. I have nation-wide calling already included in our Sprint Cell phone service.  the phone call and change were local?  Not too sure how this will turn out. It is disconcerting to receive these types of invoices and the threat of collection, credit rating  challenges.  I think these scamers want  you to pay the small fee and go on paying the fee.  I have spent too much time on this scam.

We got a bill from this "Sprint" company a few weeks ago as well!  We don't even have long distance on our phone and we don't have Sprint!  The bill was for $6.46 and says we made a call to a city in Texas!  I tried to call the customer service number at the bottom of the bill and it says to leave a message and they will call you back!  I left a message and some "shady" lady called me back 5 hours later and was very rude.  When I began to tell her that it was impossible for me to make this call since our long distance is blocked, she yelled at me and hung up!  I have reported them to the US Postal Service for Fraud and am not going to pay the bill!  I will also check my credit report regularly to make sure nothing appears.  THIS IS A SCAM!  THESE ARE CRIMINALS!  DO NOT PAY!  Report this to the FTC and US POSTAL SERVICE MAIL FRAUD DEPT ASAP!

I received a long distance "bill" on Sprint logo with this number listed. I don't have Sprint long distance services, so I called this number to protest. Instead of a person, the number goes to an answering machine. After doing an online search, it looks as if this is a common scam.

I reported the fraudulent bill I received from Sprint to the United States Post Office.  It is against the law to commit identity fraud through the mail.

I too tried calling the 800 number on the bill and left a voice mail stating I had no intention of paying the bill because I did not incur the charge.

They called our office to ask for the address to send a bill and claimed to be MCI. I refused as we already use MCI and they have our address. They must have called back as I received a bill today from "MCI a Verizon company" same address as everyone else. The 800 number on my bill is 800-226-0014. I can't believe this has been going on for 3 yrs and the PO Box is still the same one. Talk about somebody not doing their job.

This is very bizarre because my daughter is in a correctional facility in Hawaii.  When I called that facility to find out how to pay for the collect calls that my daughter was making to me, I was given this 800 number to call by the personnel at the facility.  When I call it, like others, I get only an answering machine.  I've left numerous messages but have never gotten a call back from them.  Someone has blocked my phone now from receiving collect calls so I am beyond frustrated about what to do.  The whole thing is very strange.

Received a bill 1/6/12, date of call was in October of 2011.  I have long distance blocked on the phone number it shows, and the Sprint logo is in black, not yellow.  Called Sprint, the bill shows a 10 digit account number which is not what Sprint uses.  This is a scam according to Sprint.

Dear Susie, I just got a bill ($15.35) from Sprint, which is not my long distance provider. They claim I made a call to Pennsylvainnia last October, through an operator. The call was to an atr house in that city. I didn't make such call. I even contacted that gallery and they didn't even know me, nor any art traders in Texas. I called the official site of Sprint and they do not have any record -bill, calim- on my name. I'm not even listed in the phone book!
This "entities"  addressed the bill on my late husbands name (he has been death for over 8 years now). . I regret having given to these peoples this info but they had already my name and my address. Their ph# is: 1800-349-1923. As you do, I have good credit and honor my bills but, clearly, this is a scam and I don't know what to do. I'll go to the police first thing in the morning.
Any advice?
Gratefully,
Estela Seale.

Yes, I  have received the bill from the Sprint. I called back and left message at 1800-349-1923. The phone line is always set up as answering machine, left message one time ...they never respond back  to my phone call.

Thanks for the information.

My company also got a bill from "Sprint" for a phone line we own for 1 call totaling $13.29.  The bill looks very real so be careful when you do get one.  The M.O. is the same with the PO Box 600607 Jacksonville FL 32260-0607 address showing up on the bill.  I checked our phone bills on the number in question and we had the correct PIC in for our carrier so there was no way this call could of gone to another carrier.  Complete scam..

I can't believe this is still going on, afte reading the first post here, from Sept, 2008.  3 years later, we received this same fake Sprint letter with a bill for $5.81 for a call we supposedly made to another documented telemarketing scammer!  I know now not to bother calling the phony Sprint number (again) to try to resolve the bill. But it's unbelievably pathetic that this scam's been going on for YEARS and they haven't been shut down, still using the same phone number and everything. I guess I should go into business running one of these scams, since apparently no one will stop it.

I also received a bill from Sprint in regard to a phone call supposedly made 8/19/11 from my home phone.  I immediately knew that this was a scam since I do not have long distance phone service on my home phone...and I don't know anyone in Springfield, IL.  I too called the 800 number and left 2 messages and have not received any call backs.

So this invoice is headed for the shredder.  I do worry about the people who do pay these bills because they pay bills as soon as they come in the mail.  One should always check the source of bills.

This is a scam. I'm not a Sprint customer. I called Sprint and--after the Customer "Care" person had the nerve to ask me for my SSN and I demanded to speak with a supervisor--was told this number is not Sprint's and to disregard the bill.

DO NOT PAY any invoice from this group. They are crooks.

Thanks to all of you for posting about this. If you receive one of these invoices, report it to the USPS at https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx

I received a suspicious looking bill from these guys for a single call made two months ago (July) from my business land line to one of my sales reps that I call multiple times every day.  I called Sprint directly to check up on this as I believed it to be a scam.  I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SPRINT that this is actually a third party that DOES handle "casual billing" on their behalf.  However, since Qwest is my local carrier and has been my long distance carrier themselves since April, I contacted them.  They cannot find any reason that I should be receiving this bill and I will not be paying it. Initial calls to the customer service number on the bill ended with me having to leave a message.
