Almost a year later and this guy with the Indian accent is still preying on people. I called the 800 number to get help setting up my netgear router. The guy immediately has me do the logmein thing so he can take control of my computer and tell me that there were 16 other people accessing my computer. In my gut something did not seem right. He wanted to talk to his supervisor to see how he could best help me with this problem. I told him I had something I had take care of immediately. He gave me his number to call him back. In my heart of heart of knew there was something wrong with the call after I allowed him to access my computer. I called the legitimate netgear number and the service rep helped me and changed my IP address just in case that guy held on to my info somehow. I had tried to get my router linked a number of times so that could have been my issue too.

On April 23, 2014, I went to a website which I thought was linksys.com because I had a problem with my router.  It had a tech support phone number that I called.   I told Steve Smith with an Indian accent that I had a problem with my wifi router and he said that it was not my router but a virus on my computer and he would have to call me back because all of his techs were busy.  I got a call back and the caller Id said Smart Care LLC, 800-356-2494.  I was told that they would charge me $99.99 and 6 month support after they fixed my problem.  Stupid me let them into the computer and they showed me 12,000 error messages and AgGIGlobalHitory and other AgGI data base files on my computer, but a closer look shows that it was the same time that they are on my computer.  While this was happening, I used my cell phone and went to linksys.com website that looked different than the one I accessed on my computer.  I called and the man said that there is only one tech company approved by linksys and it is SupportRix.com.  He told me to shut off my computer to stop them.  They called back saying that they were tech support and to call back at 855-541-4926.  I did not. I went to another computer and he helped me reconfigure my router and it began working.  He connected me to Supportrix and I had them check my computer.  Today I received a call from 323-489-7473 Los Angeles, CA and a man sounding like Steve said he was from Microsoft.  I was already on another call and told him that i could not talk .  Not sure if related.  Looking through my caller ID I found that I had a call from that 323 number on April 21.

I wish i could figure out how I initially got their number because the website looked like it could have been linksys.  maybe linksys will investigate and let us all know.

I had initially dialed the netgear number but somehow got rerouted to this one.  They told me netgear tech would be calling me from Netgear in a few minutes.Sure enough they beeped in.  Problem was, now I know it was not Netgear.  They moved all around my computer, showed me the corrupted network, (yeah right) had me all upset and told me it was going to be 99.99 to fix it.  I argued that my router was not broken, my modem was not broken, my computer was not broken, and not no but heck no I was not paying them to fix anything.  They hung up, they closed the page they had open, and unfortunately they had changed some things on my desktop, and a few other places before I could do anything.  They continued to call, and tried at least every 30 minutes to gain access to my computer.  Thank God I had enough sense not to let them back in.  I contacted Netgear today and they told me that it was not them, so we started researching and sure enough it is a scam and they somehow managed to hack into Netgear phone calls.

Same thing happened to me, but I thought it was Netgear and allowed them to access my computer.  When they started talking about $99 fix I realized it wasn't Netgear.  Now I am afraid my bank account and credit info could be hacked.

I called this number thinking it was tech support for our Netgear router since I was having trouble logging in I(just couldn't figure out the default user and password).  Someone answered on the first ring.  This guy(Jimmy Smith with a heavy Indian accent) tried to convince me that our computer had been hacked and we would be unable to use our computer until he "fixed" the problem for the low, low price of $99!  Didn't fall for it.  Looked up actual Netgear support number.  I knew it was the right number when I heard "Para Espanol, marque dos" and was put on hold for several minutes.

I had exact the same experience and scenario.  It is amazing how exact they are alike. I am glad that I did this search.  Now I have no doubt that this is a scam.  Thank you for sharing the information.

Thank you so much for the post.  I had the exact experience like you described.  I was installing my Linksys USB adaptor and was having problems today.  So I click on support and get this 800-356-2494 number which stated as Linksys support.  The guy with Indian accent immediately took charge, installing his software, getting into my computer and looked at all those files, exactly like you described.  He was saying "Oh, my god.  The whole network in your home network is corrupted." The only way to solve is to have his technical group to help me.  He used both scare and pressure sales pitch.  I almost fell for it.  He claimed that all my security was bleached and my data in jeopardy.  If I don't hire them clean up, my network will be ruined, even if I install new routine.  He threatened that the corrupted and compromised data will follow to the new router.  I never experienced such an outright, pushy sale technique before.  I am glad I did not purchase the service for $149.99.  That is a scam.

I had the same issues two nights ago spoke with David Miller however his accent was so overpowering I did not understand a word he said UNTIL he mentioned the word fee.  he did dial into my system using logmein123,and he told me my system was corrupt with over 2000 files. Once he said something  about charging  me I immediately hung up but now I cant  use  my router. last night they out of the blue  called again and when I wouldnt answer they continuously called back for  about  30mins.they need to be
reported, I was needing DLink assistance and Im positive they put malware on my computet

They did a fantastic job helping me clean my computer. They walked me through it step by step. First they had me put the phone down while I ran down to my nearest office supply store to buy LCD screen wipes and a vacuum.  After I purchased these items, I ran home and they were still on the phone. I was shocked!
First I shut down my computer and wiped down the screen. Then I vacuumed out the inside of my CPU.  I put it back together and boy oh boy was it quiet. Than I realized I forgot to plug it back in. So I plugged everything in and hit the power buttons. They than had me do the Hokey Pokey. I almost knocked my computer chair over a few times, so I moved it into the hallway. They followed this by having my sing YMCA & perform the whole routine with it.
I restarted my computer and to my surprise I was upgraded to Windows 32. Don't tell anyone, but this is version of Windows doesn't come out until 2037. I can't explain it, but I think I somehow traveled through time and back again.

Once again, that is how you make up a story.

Have a great day.

This is definitely about cool computing! One of my colleague referred me to this no ( smartcare). I came across a technician for the black screen error on my system. Without making me wait for hours and agitating me for the delay in service or resolving the issue, the guy took me through several steps and God forbid but since then I have never had the same issue in my laptop. I'm very thankful that my laptop was not a loss and my data is safe. good job.

OK I admit ?too many cooks spoil the broth?? I have a decent amount of computer knowledge but when my computer just wouldn?t respond, and I ran out of ideas I asked a friend of mine for help (he never seemed to have issues with his laptop). He recommended me to this no. and once I got in touch with them? while I know they could have resolved the problem much faster I argued over every step they maneuvered. I guess my knowledge was more the short cut method while they go through a process to make sure I don?t have the same problem again. My bad :) but the tech guy did a good job

This is a site for looking up unknown numbers of warning potential victims. Invariably, testimonials like yours that reek with such outright dishonesty means that this site is making it tough in the boiler room for you scammers.

You must think the people on this site are dumber than you are. Your victims, the ones you are able to separate from their hard earned money, may be, but people who come here are much smarter than you are.

Love the invocation of god BTW. There's a special boiler room in hell waiting for scum like you, the sooner you get there, the better for everyone else!
