Prank Call
I got same thing.  NO return address or identifying info.  Against better judgment I did call, careful not to give them any info beyond what they already had.  BTW, I THINK your mortgage holder is public information.  I LOVE the idea of asking to send questions in writing.  Think I'll do that too.  OK, this was my "doh" of the day.

I got the same notice.  When I called I told the guy on the other end of the phone, he was working for a scam business.  He said he was only trying to help people get a better loan rate and proceed to tell me I would be happier with a 2% loan rate.  Next I needed to pay for the service.  I told him I didn't need his service and hung up.  Before I called, I blocked my phone number.  Amazing people would fall for this.  It was fun just to call and let them think I was interested.  That's what we should do just call and clog up their phone lines.  It is an 800 number after all.  1-800-368-9659.  Just make sure you block your number so they can't call you back.

Also got mailer for a Mass Joinder Case  for "The People Vs - Quicken Loans, Inc"  ...which is a 5 year old mortgage I don't even have anymore. So they are so stupid they can't even buy current information.

Phone number to call was 800-368-9659.  I didn't waste my time to call but Google led me here.  Thanks everyone for posting. It is sites like this that will keep the idiot scammers from making any money from anyone but their inbred relatives.

I got the EXACT same email from "Sheila" as the one that was posted to this thread on this fraudulent 800 number.    They were gracious enough to give me till friday to determine if I wanted to spend 5k to "opt in" to this "deal".     They also noted I could do two payments of 2500/each but they had to happen 1 week apart and not any longer than that.   I hope these people burn for their efforts.   Almost seems rigged up, like they maintained a list of whomever had called into their banks to look at modifications or what not and are now running down that list to see whos stupid enough to trust them again.

If its to good to be true, its probably a banker and a lawyer scheming up ways to remove ones hard earned money.   ;)

I also rec'd one of these letters I called and for $5,000. they would lower my mortgage to $800. a month and I would receive 75,000 in monetary damages in which the attny. would receive 30% of that settlement. Plus I would have a 2% fixed mortgage rate on the balance of my loan.  I was also told that the way they come up with my new loan balance was I would only owe 20% of the current fair market value. All of this was told to me by Mr. Rick Amies, and when I call back with my payment or any questions he would be my case worker and he would handle everything for me personaly. lol...

We just got one of these for Wells Fargo.

Since it's fraud, isn't there some where to turn these people in; send the letter to an agency that can do something about them?  It makes me so mad, I want to do something, not just throw it away.

Have your father file place an alert on his SSN at the social security office. He should also consider lifelock or another entity that can protect, monitor and notify him if there is any attempted to open credit with his identity.

I got one of these notices about a month ago from:

Litigation Settlement Department
3829 Veterans Memorial Pkwy
Saint Peters, MO 63376
Phone # 1-800-368-9659
File # CDM-110402

Vs INDYMAC BANK FSB

Something about it just didnt look right to me. I've been part of joined lawsuit before and when I got that notice it was about 3 full pages worth of information, not one little notice so i never bothered calling. The last 2 weeks my wife has been on my a** about calling the number so I decided to do a little research on it before I called. I'm so glad I ran across this post. I knew this thing was a fake and a waste of my time.

So my dad told he had received a letter in the mail for the mass joinder case, unfortunately being in his position he gave them his social security number and date of birth, but when they started asking for money thankfully he got suspicious especially when they asked about banking information. I then told him he should change his number, but I fear them having his ssn# and d.o.b. they might be able to commit fraud now. So I ask you all if you have any recommendations on what he can do to protect himself from further damages.

Here's the email;

Hello Mitchell and Valerie,

Thank you for taking the time to speak with us on the phone today. My name is Sheila and I am your Case Analyst. I wanted to give you some more information on our firm as well as some helpful documentation.

Kramer & Kaslow is actively seeking plaintiffs for Mass Joinder Lawsuits against dozens of Lenders across the country. The settlements we are seeking for our clients in the Mass Joinder Lawsuits are to get every plaintiff lump sum cash awards, complete stripping of the note or a complete restructuring of the loan to present values and rates.

Kramer & Kaslow is a full service real estate law firm licensed to practice in California. We have been successfully helping homeowners save and stay in their properties by demanding settlement with their current lenders.

We also sympathize that loss mitigation is a lengthy and confusing process; Kramer & Kaslow understands this anxiety which is why we work really hard to make this process simple and easy for you to understand.

Once we receive your mortgage statement, I will be submitting your case file for attorney review. They will be analyzing your profile and determining whether we are permitted to represent you.

While the Attorneys review your case profile, we want you to research Kramer & Kaslow. At the end of this letter, you will find a couple links to pages within our website. The first link will direct you to case info in regards to the ongoing lawsuits. The second link directs you to our video page where you?ll find our lead attorney, Phillip A. Kramer, fully explaining the Mass Joinder suit and potential outcomes of the cases. On this same page, you will find various videos from several news outlets discussing the mortgage crisis and the fraudulent practices within the industry. I encourage you to watch every video as there are interviews with Supreme Court Justices and State Representatives discussing the merits of our case. You will also find attached a power point presentation as well as some articles in relation to the industry. This information will help you understand the current climate of the banking industry and help you determine whether our firm is a good fit for you.

It is very important to us that you take the time to review this because it?s critical that you understand your legal rights along with who is representing you in your case and the stages that will be taken during pre-litigation. This will be insightful and helpful for you. If you haven?t already done so please fax me the most recent copy of your mortgage statement as this will be a key factor in determining your eligibility. My fax number is 636-922-0359

Our cases are filling up fast and as you can imagine our interest levels in joining the suits are very high. If the attorney finds you eligible to join the suit it is imperative that you get me back all the information requested in a timely manner and that we move quickly and swiftly.

I will touch base with you within the next 24/48 hours to let you know if you have been approved to move forward in the lawsuit. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to email or call me directly.

I look forward to helping you gain back control of your mortgage.

Got the 8003689659 letter. I called and spoke with a Sheila (Blank) about a pending lawsuit against my bank. I asked for documentation as to who she is and the company she represents (Mass Litigation Alliance). I got an email loaded with attachments and links to a website (masslitpc.com) with links to a supposedly BBB website but the URL was slightly different than the real www.bbb.org website (www.la.bbb.org/Business-Report/Mass-Litigation-Alliance-100103596), the look of the site was very similar to the BBB. There were also attached brochures for a K2 Law Firm? Even FAQ's. A quick overview and you might be fooled. But anybody with any common sense would catch all of the blank fields throughout the interactive brochures. Take one lucky guess which fields were blank, you got it address, phone number, website. You have 72 hours to respond! They asked for a $6,000.00 retainer but said they'd take $3000.00 and installments. Yeah, RIGHT. Beware these scams are getting good and they are targeting people like me who are currently going through turmoil with their home mortgage. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels!

This is sad because a large portion of people who went or are going through foreclosure where not smart enough to realize they could not afford a half a million dollar home on a salary of $30,000 a year, they are not going to be smart enough to realize this is just another scam. My wife opened the notice and asked me if this is legit. I laughed. So many things wrong with this fraudulent solicitation. Not to mention I worked for the small community bank that wrote my non fraudulent loan in late 2008. So I told my wife to google the phone number for kicks. When she showed me this, I just had to respond.

got the letter too: Litigation settlement Vs Bank of America and required me to call 1-800-374-4229. This is not right! Taking advantage of people's vulnerable situation. As much as I wanted it to be true, I didn't call. I first googled them and found your comments - Thank you.

1. No return address outside
2. No address or other way to identify the sender inside
