This had to be a SCAM!

I called a number from the Scarsdale Penneysaver for a government postal job.  They asked for a credit card for, I don't remember the exact amount of money, $100ish that would be reimbursed if I don't pass their test that they would mail to me.  I spoke with a Jody.

The phone number that I called 800-370-0146 x52.

I fell for this scam!!! First they ask you what state you are calling from and what extension number while the same person is still handling your call. Then they tell you yes, we are hiring in that area which is totally not true. I received my package and followed the directions on the sheet and come to find out they're not even hiring in my area. In fact they just laid off a bunch of people. So i called 1-800-370-0146 back and spoke with amy and she gave me the customer service number 1-877-588-2600 which took forever to be answered because I think there's only one guy answering the phones, but he told me that it takes time and blah, blah, blah and requested a refund. So he told me to send back the material and I should be refunded in 10 days. Hopefully I get my refund. Oh I left the numbers for everyone who is having trouble getting a hold of them

Just saw an ad for it on careerbuilder.com.. At least it has a warning right there.

The first time I saw it was on the newspaper a couple of years ago. Called the number and when they asked for money I just told them I was going to call them back. Didn't sound right.

After hanging up I did some research and found out it was bs. Glad I didn't call them back or spend a dime on it.

IF YOU TOOK THE TIME TO LOOK!!!

I am from charlotte north carolina and i called this 1-800 number in regards to a potal position. when the lady told me about the 129.90 administrative fee i told them that I knew they were a SCAM and that I had spoke with a us post office clerk and they told me that there is NO fee with any of there jobs openings, Its so sad that unemployed people cant even look for a job without getting ripped off. I wish president obama could do something about this.

Oh yeah, and when I said I'd call back, she said "Ok. You only have until Friday at 4pm." Yeah, okay. So if I call back on Monday, will you still accept my money?

I called this number today after finding their ad on CareerBuilder for "Postal Service" positions. Thank God I don't actually have $129.90 or I may have fallen for it. The lady answered, and went through all the questions mentioned in a post above. "Do you have a valid credit card or checking account?" I've applied for a lot of legitimate jobs, not one of which asked me for that information. One thing that struck me as odd after I hung up... One of the first things she asked was "What extension are you trying to reach?" I only called the 800 number, I never entered an extension. I said 133, and there was never a transfer of phone lines. This doesn't smell right, avoid it at all costs. As mentioned before- if you're looking for a job, contact the actual company or association that you would be working for if hired.

Here's the scoop on this......i researched this at great length today.  Of course it's a scam.  I reported it to Careerbuilder.com (reputable, right?). That is where I saw this number for a guaranteed govt. postal job.  Career builder called me back and said they are a legit ad.  I asked the gentleman , " why are there hundreds and hundreds of posts on the net about how people got scammed by this number and others like it.  He then changed his tune, with attitude, saying, " We will look into it, thank you. "
I called various numbers that advertised the Postal Jobs and when I said "I'm worried about feeding my family without a job, and 69-129$ is a lot to shell out, and the USPS site offers job testing for free," they hung up.
The best line one guy kept repeating over and over in a gameshow host voice was, " This is better than free, you are guaranteed a job for a lifetime."
Bottom line, this is the state of american economy and ethics : Sites like Careerbuilder.com are simply turning the BUCK...they get paid a large advertising price by these 100's of scam job 1-800 numbers and are making a killing off of them.  SO, they will play you off even though they are a job site claiming to be moral and ethical in finding people jobs. Simply not true, at least not entirely.  The payment that the 1-800 number Job people pay to careerbuilder.com and similar sites is a drop in the bucket for them.
See my point?  Payoffs are present in all sorts of business in America. Even for the poor people looking for a job through a job site. Truly Depressing!
Do as I do. Call these numbers and give them your name, play along, and say you are Suzy Scam, or Peter Spam...etc....let's give these guys their due KARMA! and report them to BBB! For sure!

I fell for this scam as well, it seemed a little fishy but I went ahead with it.  I then looked on the USPS website (Guess I should have done that first lol!) I saw that their was no job opening at all so I then called the number back and asked them what the deal was and they hanged up on me.

Fortunately I was able to call my bank and close the account before they stole my money.  I will be calling the B.B.B tomorrow morning to report this company.  If you have not received your package or refund I would suggest pressing charges against them.

Freakin dammnit! i just fell for it! i was looking for a job this morning at careerbuilder.com and i saw a postal job, saying i wud get paid $13-sumting, i quickly called the 1-800 number. Without thinking twice i gave out my information n debit card number. I mean i didnt know at first that it was a scam, the lady said everything is free.... proccessing fee, testing fee.... blah blah blah...except for "ADMINISTRATIVE FEE"! after everything was done i asked her how much the cost is, and then she said $129.90. after hearing that... i just had a bad feeling about this so i went online n search about this TESTING&CAREERS, and found out all this sites saying how they are a scam, i read some of the post that people wrote and they had the same stories as mine!
So i quickly went to my bank online n transfer most of my most of my money to my savings... i dont know if that wud help me save my money by putting little money on my checking account so they wudnt b able to get that money theyre asking.
and after that i quickly called back, and SAME lady answered (have somewhat a southern accent) told her where im from and everything, she said that i was the one who called earlier. Then I said that i wanted to cancel my registration, and she said okay i will cancel that for u,n said that its been cancelled.
WOOH! hopefully they wont take out the money... im really worried.
U know what F*** ALL OF THIS SITES! careerbuilder, idk about monster,

DONT FALL FOR THIS SCAM these people are not affiliated with the Post Office in any why and the trick by thinking that they are. I Fell for it and paid my money and they offer you the 90 money back thing its a trick. I went to my local post office and first they handed me the book just like the one I bought for 129.00 dollars for free or you can pick one up at your local library. But here is the catch the post office only takes applications certain times of the year and you will most like likey fall out of that 90 day window and it says from they day they issue you the book it took two weeks for me even to get the book and it take along time to get the paper work back for your back ground check or even considered. Well needless to say I an scheduled to take take the test a month from now and even if I fail it will be past the 90 day clause.. It is a scam and a trick keep you money it is not worth it and they give Career builders a bad name PS there is no contact info when you receive this package so good luck finding these people again. They also will cont issue you a refund if your package gets lost stolen or damages or if all the package material is not all there they will not issue you a refund either. Also the paper work that has your testing score on it has your name social security number phone and address and you are Required to give them the original testing score sheet for your refund who is going to do that? The bank on the fact that people are not that smart and take advantage of innocent people. SO PLEASE DO NOT SEND THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY

I called today and the lady that had helped me sounded really nice. I had called back to cancel because my fiance had gotten upset with me and I realized how stupid I was to have even given them my card number. I called back to cancel and the lady that had helped me earlier answered again, but this time I had asked her if there was a number I could call to cancel and gave me this number: 1-877-588-2600. I had called back again to really cancel and the lady that was now helping me put me on hold after asking for my name. After about a minute she came back on and didn't sound happy about what she was helping me with. In the background it sounded as if she was saying something like "oh is she going to cancel", and the lady replied "yes" quickly under her breath. After asking for my name, number, and address she sounded even more like she just wanted to hang up on me, and then said "well we'll go ahead and cancel that for you". People bottom line is if you're calling to find out info, DO JUST THAT! I called with that intention, but wasn't thinking when they asked for my card number. DON'T GIVE YOUR CARD NUMBER OUT TO ANYBODY NO MATTER WHAT!

As a former federal employee, I called this number just to see what it was about.  After answering several questions, the first being "Do I have a credit card?", I was told I qualify for a position with the US Postal Service.  When I declined to pay the fully refundable amount to receive sample test forms and questions if I do not receive a job with the Post Office, I no longer qualified for the job.

Currently these ads are running on Yahoo.Hotjobs.com.

These companies, who also advertise in newspapers ARE scams.  At the very best, they might offer materials that you can use to study for a postal exam, but they are not affiliated in any way with the USPS.  If you are interested in a career with the USPS, go to their website and scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on 'Careers'.  DO NOT fall for these scams!

I called this number to apply for a post office position, they asked for $129.90 for an application fee and said it was fully refundable if I did not past the test. That I would receive my test packet and letter from the goverment to let me know when and where to go for the test. The job was advertised on careerbuilder.com as postal job opportunities/testing & careers w/US.  DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM DO NOT SEND YOUR MONEY. I friend of mine sent her money in and never received a packet and her money was never refunded.
