These b*****ds have been calling since 5:39 this morning! I have had this new phone number since February of 2013. They called a couple times before and I told them to stop calling, but they never did! They are causing me to not get enough sleep!

This people call me thousand time a day. Is crazy call. and them say we has to pay for Florida Power Light We call the Florida Power and them told me never call me for nothing. Maybe this people is a bad. Thank you.

They start calling as early as 7:30am and as late as 9:30pm. They have called my home as many as 7 times in one day and I had just received my new bill. I was told my friend that the new remote electric meter they just installed make it so that they will no longer come to your door. They will mail a past due notice, call with a shut off warning & then they will remotely shut off your service at the meter by computer. Many good employees lost their jobs with 15 years and more service. They are victims of the Corporate digital take over of as many middle class American jobs as they can program an imported mega-computer to replace for pennies. Don't they realize that without us, they will not have jobs any longer because no one will have the money to pay for their goods or services. What a sad way for a once Proud, Honest, Compassionate Democracy to slip into oblivion and become just another third world nightmare...

They call me all.the.time. FPL trying to say I'm late. They just called me today twice. It's June 5th and my bill isn't due until the 20th. SCAM!

You can always *67 the number, callback and go through the automated verification prompts to get it to tell you the last name on the account. I don't have an account either but thanks to this it gave me a last name I never heard of and I realized it was some scumbag giving them a fake phone number (the odds of it being your ssn on account are pretty remote if you've ever opened an account with FPL and seen their identification requirements to open one)
If it happens that you actually DO have one with your SSN used go to ssn.gov NOW and issue a fraud alert to make anyone else contact you directly and verify if you're applying for any credit at all, they should also alert the credit bureaus as well

Annoying calls at all times.

I just answered this call and it's FPL trying to collect a debt.  The person that they are trying to call no longer has this number and they still call at all times.  This has to stop!

Solution. Follow is the BEST
The call is when you are past due in your electricity bill. Is a computer generated message reminding you need to pay.
1) open an gmail account,
2) then with that account open a free google voice. The call should be forwarded to a real phone number for verification
3) Log in to your new google voice account and uncheck "call forwarder to that phone and instead forward them to your email, call to that number will go to voicemail directly. You will never receive a "ring"
4) Last: if you still have access to your FPL account via online change your phone number to the new google voice number. If not call customer service with the number they call to pull up an account if the account is not yours tell them to remove that number from the database if is yours although account is closed give them the google voice.

OK people listen up - simple way to stop these asshats from calling ever again.

1) Get Android phone
2) Install Google Voice
3) Block the number (using the website - google.com/voice)
4) Go on about your life

They will receive a "not in service" message OR you can make a custom message of your own they can listen to. I am sure this may work for iOS phones too, but as I don't care about Apple, your mileage may vary.

got 5 calls on a sat am. Made me run an d pay my bill. But I didn't answer. I have an app for my andriod called YOUMAIL. It allows me to block numbers ver yeasily and even give them a message that they have reached a disconnected number! try it!

Received two of these calls on my cell, called FPL they said it is not them.  They do not have that 800 number.  So this is a scam.  I blocked number on my cell, so no more calles.  If you have verizon cell you can block 5 numbers for free.

This is a scam I called back and they said they wanted my social securtiy number and account number.  A woman said they were calling to come by and read our meter and make sure dog is out of yard.   It was a recording and I hung up on them when they said social security number.  Also I new I did not owe any money as I had just paid and it was not due until 3 more days.

I live in CA and received a missed call on my cell phone from (800) 375-7176 on 7/26/12 at 9:17 am PDT. I called FPL back and navigated through their automated instructions. I did NOT enter my phone # nor SSN, but a fake 10-digit acct. #.  The automated message said that account does not exist in their records. Eventually I was able to get to a prompt asking me if I wanted to pay the electricity bill in person. I entered my zip code and the automated voice said I was not in their service area. Well...then why did you call my freakin' cell phone #?? SO ANNOYING!! Stuff like this and spam texts to my phone about winning a Target gift card adds to reasons why people need Anger Management classes. Please, someone, how can we stop this nonsense?

Clls from this FPL number may actually be of help to some of you. It is a recorded message from FPL but not all calls coming from this # are collection calls. They also use this number to inform consumers that they may be eligible for United Way help for energy assistance to pay their bill. They provide a legitimate phone number to the United Way agency in your area. Especially helpful for disabled persons, unemployed or senior citizens.

Looks like a scam. They are calling my cell. It is a prepay "throw away" that I use while temporarily visiting the US. So is not registered anywhere.

This is confirmed FPL.  They call when electric service is due to be disconnect for non-payment.  The call I recieved was legit, as they had not cashed my check and it was not showing paid although I maild it way before the due date.  I am not a late payer, so they opted to contact me via phone.  It was more or less a courtesy call, which was much appreciated.  They did not ask me for payment information over the phone, they requested that I call back in and make the payment using their payment options offered on the toll free number.  If you are getting calls and not in this situation it could be that they have a wrong number listed to an account that is not yours.

A call on my business line.  An automated voice says  "please hold for an important call", then again that she is trying to connect.    I've received these before.

We just activated this number after moving and switching cable companies. This is not the phone number that FPL has. No idea how they would have this number. Again, they called me at 8:22 and 9:21 on Saturday.

have this number calling me 15 times in the last 2 days! Looking for someone about there 835.00 bill. Spoke to 5 diffrent people at FPL. But yet still getting these phone calls... What a JOKE of  a COMPANY

I got this call twice over the weekend, and twice this am, once at 8:00am. After reading this i was thinking it was a scam, but i called it to see what the recording did say.  It was the exact same voice used on FPL automated system, so that made me nervous too. It said thank you for calling the account recovery dept.  So i hung up and called FPL--i have two accounts, 1 biz and 1 home, I had just paid my biz account so i knew i owed nothing.  When i got the rep at FPL, she said i could be getting a call if my bill is on final notice before disconnect, and even if they send out a final notice in the mail, they call to give you a "heads up" that the final notice is about to expire and will be disconnected.  She checked my bill, and yep--i had 84.00 final notice that was set to expire in 3 days--so--it was my fault for paying late (hey! its the holidays--lol) and yes--this is FPL--and yes--it is ligit!!  BUT--WARNING!! FPL NEVER asks for SS# if you have your address, account # etc--if  you dont, they would ask you to verify the last 4 of you social--not entire number!

I don't get it.  I have lived in Florida since 1975 and have been a captive of FPHell forever - but they have NEVER called me before.  I recently signed up for bill by email, but when did this transition to harassment by telephone?  My bill is not late, their customer service is horrible, and I will have the Florida Public Service Commission intervene on my behalf AGAIN.  Give them a call and complain - FPL HATES the PSC.  They would rather come and clean your house rather than be contacted by the PSC!!

A reminder call at home is fine but DO NOT CALL MY JOB!!!  Then say I apologize but we do not have your work numbe ron file to remove this anyway. Well figure it out and remove it.
