I called the BOA after a call from this number.
It is a scam.
I called Verizon and had them block the number and then reported it to BOA as a scammer. They took my report.
Jackass caller must be a Hillary fan, money for nothing...

got a call from the number several times a day, finally was able to get to the phone to answer it. The lady asked if she could speak to my roommate. I told her my roommate was rest he has stage 3 cancer and I needed to know whom was calling. There was dead silence on the line then she hung up. But we are still getting calls and no one ever leaves a message and most of the time, there is nobody on the line by the time I get to the phone.

Why are they calling a non customer?  No BOA business at all.  Further,  I am currently debt free.  Please advise?

Caller said he was from Bank of America calling about my truck loan.  He asked me to give him my address so he knew he was talking to the right person.  I said you called me, you should have that information.  He again said he had to confirm he was talking to the right person.  He tried to make me comfortable by giving me his 800 number to call back on.  He made it sound like there was a problem with my loan, I knew there was not.  I really thought he was trying to sell me an extended warranty or something like that.  I called BOA, they checked all my accounts and that there was no reason for BOA to call me, and if so they would never called me and then asked me to confirm anything.  Of course if you call them you have to confirm who you are, but you called them.

I've been getting calls from this number for over a month now. They call at different hours of the day and never leave a message. I answered one time and they told me it was Bank of America regarding my account. They instructed me to call a separate number (I didn't write it down), give them my SS# and then she hung up.

I disagree with you on this situation... I get a phone call and voice mail from this number everyday. I do not and have not had an account with Bank of America for an auto loan. I called the number and the first thing they ask is for SS # and or account # thru automation. The recording voice does not match any of the other on line BOA phone number recordings, and I finally hit 0 enough to get a live person. They barely spoke English, they were extremely rude when I called them out on what their business was with me, they told me to go to the BOA website and see that the number was legit and it WAS NOT. I called BOA and they sent this info to the Fraud department, Like some of the other people posted, legit or not, NEVER GIVE YOUR SS# or account # without verifying who they are. most businesses ask for the last 4 digits of SS#, never the full #.

I don't believe you.  No legit B of A caller would immediately ask for your SS#, or ask you to type it into a phone system immediately.  The recording from B of A sounds phony.  You are probably one of the crooks, trying to get people to fall for this scam.  Good try; however you should probably liimit your fraudulent calls to people who actually have B of A accounts.  DO NOT EVER GIVE ANYONE YOUR SS# OVER THE PHONE.

Tell them right away that YOU are recording the call.  They will balk and pretend to get a manager, then say they'll call back, then drop the matte entirely since they don't want to go to jail for fraud.

Got a call from this number, 800-386-4017, and no one was there.  Tried calling back since the call was on my business phone.  The number just rang and rang and rang....  Not sure why they called, but I always return calls from my business phone since I do not want to lose anyone who wants to contact me.

Hundreds, maybe thousands of identity theft prevention discussions are clear about this: DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR SS# TO UNFAMILIAR CALLERS!! Just because they say the words "Bank of America" means nothing: I can call any random number and state I am calling from anywhere. Tell the caller you will research the issue and thank them for their call. Next, do your homework, determine which  accounts are past due, and then call the numbers which you already got from the lender, in their paperwork, on the credit card, anything other than a random caller (whom you came here to research since you did not recognize their number).

This number calls my cellphone, their id is blank, they did not answer when I picked up the first call. I slept through their second call and they did not leave a voicemail message. Since I do not know who the caller is, that will not be entered.

Just got a call from these folks and I had the same experience as many on this site.DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. If they were legit, they would first give you information, such as your loan number, so that you could verify that they at least know something about you. We don't even have a loan with BOA. I am a consumer law attorney and I can guarantee you that this is a scam. Those saying it isn't are part of the scam.

This number was used as a Bank of America call with information on my account. I am currently in the loan modification application process so I thought it would be legit. This number came after a initial call from 866-459-1690. Very possible it is a scam.

I called the BOA customer service number listed on www.boa.com and verified the call was legitimate.  These days, the bank is stupid to do business this way as it does look like a scam, but the number is legitimate.

This is indeed Bank of America collections department.  They call from this number when they are trying to collect payment for my RV loan which routinely goes 60 to 90 days past due.  I have received calls and called them a number of times and we are pretty much on a first name basis with each other.  Through this number, I have negotiated payment arrangements and discussed the reposession status of my RV several times. If you feel this department is calling you in error, then perhaps someone fraudulently used your phone number on a loan application.  If you think that they are phishing or scamming you, then hang up, that is your prerogative.  However, in my case and experience, the call is legit.

In a related side note....Never finance an RV.  You will go hopelessly upside down instantly and be in chains for a long time.  It is one of the worst things you can sign your name to and every "RV road trip" will end up costing you thousands in payments, insurance, upkeep and gas. Rent it instead!

The people who are saying this is a legit # are most likely part of the scam.  I entered a fake account # and it propmted to a different selection.  We all now that if this was legit, it would have said I entered an incorrect acct #.
