actually, they are not permitted to leave a message with anyone. you are the person they are trying to contact about a personal matter. voice mails or a call to a number that anyone has access to is not permitted. Nor are calls on Sunday permitted.

Your advice to call the number on the back of your card is sound advice, but this particular number is not legitimate, at least as far as my banking information is concerned. I made an online purchase one night and not five minutes after I finished the transaction, I received the automated call. Immediately suspicious, instead I called the 800 number on the back of my card - it wasn't one of my bank's numbers and I was put through to the fraud department to verify that no one was trying to access my information.

I have gotten this call repeatedly every hour for 2 weeks now. I picked up the first one and was asked those questions too and said I do NOT have your card and never would. I keep letting the answering machine take it til finally I couldn't stand the calls and blocked the number, they STILL call every hour, weekdays AND weekends but it's only the one ring. They are VERY persistent crooks for sure.

If you call back, it states that it is Citicard. I do have business with them and I know why they are calling. The national do not call list only applies to companies that you don't have anything to do with. I have business with Citicard so they are allowed to contact me any way they want - home #, cell #, work #, etc.

We do have a Citi card account and this number called us right after our Citi card called. I do not answer because I do not know the phone number. We are getting tons of calls and we are on the national do not call list.

This is a scam. They called about a dozen times yesterday and didn't leave a msg. I picked it up today. They claim to be citi bank and said my account was overdue on my credit card. I don't have a card that is a citi bank card. I checked through my bills online and none had the amount the woman told me was the balance and none were over due. DO NOT DO ANYTHING SOMEONE ON THE PHONE TELLS YOU TO DO IF IT INVOLVES GIVING INFORMATION. Tell them you will call the number on the back of the card OR you will check your account online

These b*****ds may be using the stolen credit card info from target
F--k those bottom dwellers

jim 2014-05-17 17:26:48 Unknown
Citibank already knows your number they also know your social security number the only thing they ever ask you is your passphrase. And That.Is You Call Them Else if they Will leave a message to tell you to call the number on the back of the card.

Liz Peschman 2014-05-15 14:55:57 Unknown
This is ridiculous. They call 3 or 4 times a day and starting at 8 am on Sunday. The ONE time I answered no one was even there!
LJ 2014-05-14 00:16:26 Unknown
I don't even have an citicard account. so this confirms scammer alert.
Please stop calling - it's really annoying and harrassing!
Karen 2014-05-12 21:21:13 Unknown
Claim to be Citicard tell me to register my card. I do not have an account. I think it's a scam

This is citicards and they are calling to collect a debt. They call on automated machines and it's considered harassment. You could be entitled to up to $500 per call. Seriously. We've erased credit card debt AND got clients money on top of that simply because Citi keeps calling. This is a TCPA violation if the proper notice is given.
If this number is calling you, contact us immediately. We get the calls to stop and possibly even compensation. We don't charge you a dime unless we recover money on your behalf. Click the article for more information.

These days, large corporations hire people for the specific job of reading, posting and keeping in touch with all 'social media' such as boards like these. They are the ones telling you that this IS citi bank. I answered the call, gave no info, but was told that I was 6 days overdue on my payment. I was thankful that I was given the chance to go to the website, find the same info there, and pay my bill (on Citibank's site) with no over due fees. I also was able to keep my 0% apr transfer deal, that would have been jeopardized by a truly late payment. You guys are way too paranoid. If you even answer the phone, don't give them anything. If you are reading this, check to make sure that you haven't overlooked a payment. Go to your personal page like you would anyway. The info will be there. If they have the wrong person, it doesn't mean they are scammers, it just means they goofed up. They are usually rude about it and won't admit it, so they give the whole place a bad rap. Notice I have not told you to give anyone any info, I have only told you to check to make sure you are ok with them, all by yourself. Peace and be cool.

I get calls several times daily from 800-388-2200 regarding my ex wife. I keep telling them this is not her number but they keep calling. We have not been together in yrs. now all the sudden they are calling MY number and my "now" wife.. told them to stop but they do not listen.
lsm 2014-04-23 17:39:42 Debt Collector
Calling the number on the back of your credit card, rather than the number provided in an unsolicited phone call is an excellent recommendation. Calling the number on the back of my credit card I found that the call was generated because I was $385 over my credit limit after paying for a funeral, and I would continue to receive calls daily until the balance dropped below my credit limit.

They are back and I get called everyday! How do I get them to stop?

I received a call from this number today. The message was 16 seconds of a man singing.

These Nigerian scamers keep calling for someone I never heard of for a "personal business offer" (read: drain your bank account.) I tell them each time to stop calling but the daily harassment never stops. They are spoofing the number of CITI Bank.
Kerry 2014-04-14 19:23:47 Unknown
Bruce @ Citibank. This was NOT a scam. I did not need to provide him with any personal information and he was calling to let me know that my account was past due. I checked my account online and he was correct. My most recent payment did not go through.

Calls to Your Cell are Illegal 2014-04-10 15:28:44 Debt Collector
Calls from citicards or citibank to your cell phone are an attempt to collect a debt and may be illegal. If the proper notice is given, you could be entitled to up to $500 per illegal call. Check out the following 2 articles for more info:

Called asking for someone who doesn't live here. These scam debt collectors take my address "123 Main Street # 123" and cross reference it to anyone who has a debt with an address " 123 Main Street" regardless of the unit number. They are violating the law by failing to perform even the most basic due diligence.

Scam number keeps calling my son
sallie 2014-03-27 16:55:57 Unknown
It is against florida law to call someone pertaining to a bill. The collector is allowed ONE phone call...Not 500.It seems your do gooders like to scare people and make them think someone is going to hurt them. This is also considered stalking. So before you stick up for the heavenly credit card system such as CHASE,step into their shoes and be harassed 20 or more times a day.

I don't even bank with citicard/Citibank and keep getting these calls from 800-388-2200 and it is always a automated message. I get called everyday between 10:30am-10:40am. Enough is enough.
Stephanie 2014-03-25 11:32:15 Unknown
I keep receiving calls from them and they leave an automated message. In their message, they claim to be Citi and that I need to call back regarding information with my account. I have checked my account online and it is not past due, it is paid in full and there has been no identify theft. If you get a call and you are concerned, call the # on the back of your card instead. THIS IS A SCAM!

Personally, your response means nothing more than BS!!! Nobody wants somebody calling them everyday for s*** they don't want! Telemarketing is a breach of privacy period. I don't care what your "business" says. Or really what the law says. The law only applies mainly to you, not the receiver. So you suck it up. Get another job!!! And leave people alone!!
Bryan 2014-03-18 19:54:06 Unknown
Over 60 blocked calls in the last weeks. Impressive determination!
