got the same message today. It seems like they are back at it. Don't bother calling the number just ignore it and delete the message. The number was blocked but the message was "your debit card has been restricted from online shopping. Please call the 800 number to resolve and reinstate the card"

I just received a message, unknown number, on my cell phone, digital female voice, said my debit/mastercard was locked, and to press 1 to get transfered to the security dept.  I called my bank, even though I don't have a mastercard; all is well.  Another scam, looks like it's been runnig for a long time.

Just got the same automated call from an unknown number (which had called 3 times within 4 minutes). Decided to see what it was about since I get free weekend minutes on my cell phone.  A female voice telling me that my Mastercard shopping privileges had been limited and to press 1 to speak with someone about it.   I wouldn't have pressed 1 under any circumstances, but especially wouldn't since I don't have a Mastercard.  Thanks for this website that reinforces diligence against phishing, ID theft, and other scams.

843 884 6884 was the number that called my cell phone and directed me to call 1 800 391 8627 to reactivate my debit card for shopping and ATM use. I called the number back and it was a recording for a company called merchant cooperatives.

Got called on my cell originating from 317-489-5185 that visa debit card was inactivated and restricted. They said to press 1 to contact security services or call 1-800-391-8627. When they asked for my 16 digit number I hung up.
1. They contacted me on my cell instead of number associated with my cards
2. Wrong type of debit card service.

"307" appeared on my caller ID and I received the same message as others. I called the bank directly and was told I'm the 3rd person today reporting the same type of call. Definitely a scam. When I call the number 800-391-8627 it sounds like a fax machine.

888-252-6009 was the number on caller ID. A digital female voice stated that my Visa card was restricted for calling and to call 800-391-8627 for the security department. When I called that number the same digitized voice asked me to enter my 16-digit Visa card number. Of course, since neither call identified what bank they were with I assume this was a fraud and refused to provide this info. After the digital voice made several attempts to get my Visa card number I hung up.

Recieved a call on my cell phone from a private number.  A recorded message directed me to call this 18003918627 number.  The recording informed me that my mastercard debit privileges had been restricted.  i don't have a mastercard account.  I check the web and found that others have been affected by this apparent phishing scam.

Just got a call from "201" with the same message.  Said my credit or debit card was turned off.  To activate your card, please enter your 16 digit account number.  The automated voice sounded funky...like it was under water.  It faded away at time as well.  Like, when it said "Hello, this is ....... bank".  I hope nobody falls for it.

Received a automated call informing me that my debit card was no longer working and that I should call 1-800-391-8627 or press 1 to be redirected. I, of course, hung up the phone knowing that this is a scam.
The caller ID for the call was 952-563-7000 (MN, USA).

I just received the same call...thinking it was a scam, I pressed one and made up a 16 digit card number, then they wanted the expiration date, and then the pin number. It processed all the "fake" numbers I put in and it reactivated this card...hmmmm.

We went looking here.  someone is spoofing our caller id number (561-999-5000).
we didn't call you.

in fact, some of the calls that we saw logs from came in when our offices were closed.

oh, and we don't dial out of our main DID, each person has their own DID.

anyone get a name of the lusers who did this?

Got call from this number yesterday about my Visa card being "restricted". Line breaking up so badly I could barely understand.

Since I removed security restrictions (due to inactivity) with my bank's Visa debit  only last week, I thought *maybe* this call could be genuine (like my bank was maybe calling to say they thought they could remove the restrictions, but it turns out they couldn't). But I didn't give them any information, as the line was breaking up too badly.

When I called back this morning, got only an ear-splitting fax-type tone. I still feel a little deaf in that ear. Annoying.

I'm relieved, however, to hear that it is a scam (means I'm not the one who screwed things up, for a change) and will report it to my bank.
