... (continued from above) 'Clayton' must be an idiot. His 'recruitment' techniques are SHADY at best. No return address? No last name? (Is he writing this from prison? No; I think they have to put some type of notice on there if so.) Even if it is 'legal' I would NEVER represent the company (by selling their product. BUYERS BEWARE!!! Anyhow, I trust that he and his crew will eventually be found out and receive their just rewards, whether now or in a future life.

I just got a sketchy letter too, postmarked in Salt Lake City UT on 30 Oct 2009. As someone else mentioned a handwriting difference, please note: My first name which they wrote in at the top of the letter, which is the same handwriting which is on the envelope, is in a different handwriting than the body of the letter. Also, although the handwritten lines are all parallel to each other, they are also all evenly askew from the blue lines on the 'stationery'! THE BODY OF THE LETTER APPEARS TO BE COMPUTER-PRINTED in a handwriting font! More below...

Two letters, same day, different handwriting, both pre-printed, but one had actually written the phone number in different handwriting and real ink.

Just got the same note yesterday in the mail, I almost called it because I knew a Clayton years ago, the note looked very suspicious, but it seemed like it was handwritten and not printed.
thanks everyone, for sharing your experiences on this thread.

Wow...please add me to the list. I would gladly scan and upload the hand-written note and envelope so this guy/company can get investigated. I sense someone out there is giving ripped off.

Texas resident- today I received a hand written note about selling life insurance from Clayton. Love the internet, I don't like how it can be used for scams, but it could be used to stop scams also.

Same here. Got a handwritten note from 'Clayton' that said he was trying to get ahold of me.

BDK...Thanks for the update. I have gotten a couple of these. Do you know the name of the company? Why would they use this type of correspondence? Thanks!

This place is a life insurance agency that markets Indexed UL (which soon may only be available thru registered reps) and offers "pre-set appointments". In trade for the "pre-set appointments", their commission contract is pathetic, and you have to PAY a decent non-refundable amount to sign up before you've even gone into their training program. You MUST also memorize and use their long, dopey, canned presentation TO THE WORD, and it's a truly ridiculous one with comments like "you're gonna owe me a plate of chocolate chip cookies when I come back with my proposal"... Don't waste your time or money.

I got 2 of these handwritten notes in the mail today and decided to do some checking. It was VERY creepy. I work DO sell life insurance. My ex is named Clayton and he moved to Utah! I thought he was stalking me and just wanting me to call him so he would get my number. Glad I found this website. I thought you couldn't mail anything without a return address after 9/11 and all the security measures they put in. Very weird!

just wondering who they are

Same here, I'm a resident of Oregon. This is irritating. Also, the handwritten envelope penmanship is not the same as that on the note.

Got the same lame letter from "Clayton" asking if I sell life insurance. Same format as described by previous post. It's now in the shredder. At least they are keep the postal service in business.
Tom 2011-06-06 20:57:42 Unknown
Same story. To me this is fraudulent advertising and should be subject to some kind of fine. Jerks.
Jack 2011-06-06 20:57:42 Unknown
Wouldnt it be nice to call them and play the game just to get enough info to at least report them to the BBB???
James 2011-06-06 20:57:42 Unknown
I also got a hand written note. This is crazy.
KJ 2011-06-06 20:57:42 Unknown
We received at least three of these in our office on the same day. Whatever they are telemarketing for they are persistant and not afraid to spend some money to do so.
Ed 2011-06-06 20:57:42 Unknown
I called the number. They said he was with a company called "Federal Financial Group" and was looking for agents in different parts of the country to go to work for them I imagine?
Nguyen 2011-06-06 20:57:42 Unknown
Yeah, same note here. I'm a banker and they sent it to my branch. No return address on the envelope, pretty fishy.
NC Broker 2011-06-06 20:57:42 Unknown
I got it too. thanks for this thread. I would have called.
Chew 2011-06-06 20:57:42 Unknown
I got it too. I feel fishy, so I decided to check the 1-800 number and got this page. Thanks so much

Resident of Kansas. Same letter everyone else got. He must comb department of insurance websites looking for producer info. I never fault someone trying to build a legitmate business and giving someone a good opportunity to make money & achieve career success. But there is a right way to recruit producers, and a wrong way. "Clayton" chooses the latter.
Steph 2009-11-23 23:17:56 Unknown
I also got a handwritten note with 2 styles of handwriting. Asking me if I still sodl life insurance. It's a marketing ploy. Clever tho lol.

A few more things:
(1) A Google Search for Federal Financial Group turns up this web site: http://www.ffg2.com/ , which is quite reminiscent of the World Financial Group I almost got suckered into about a year ago. WFG was a Marketing Company for insurance agents and therefore not required to be licensed as an insurance company or agency. Individual agents had to be licensed but the company gets away with not having to have the licensure. (I personally disagree with this loophole.)
(2) As an agent, I'd NEVER get involved with an insurance company that would require me to pay an up-front fee. THIS SCREAMS SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! Any company worth representing makes you earn your way, and helps you, but doesn't require you to pay your way in cash.
(3) A Whitepages Reverse Phone lookup on the number (800) 392-1753 ( http://www.whitepages.com/search/ReversePhone?full_phone=800-392-1753 ) turns up NO RESULTS. Now THAT is SHADY.

No call. Handwritten letter (female handwriting)received today asking if I still sell life insurance. I did, 20 years ago, Texas license. No return address, post marked from Salt Lake City, Utah. Actually, a pretty novel direct mail approach.
