does anyone know the REAL deal here?  Not putting a "hit" or anything ridiculous like that.  This guy keeps leaving nasty little messages about some movie that was downloaded from my isp?  I'm a single mother of 4 and don't have any kids of age that would be into that sort of thing, and I sure didn't do it.  Can anyone give any assistance?

You guys are not being serious.  What are you charging are serious offenses if it's what I think it is.  Putting a "hit" on someone or something that's going to "interrupt" their lives is a felony and the FBI will come a lookin' for YOU.  We are here looking for some serious advice that will make these a-holes stop their harrassing phone calls.  Can someone please blog some sound advice instead of making ill speak?  Many thanks for those of you taking this seriously.

Are these folks for real?  Some gal just called and said I've been downloading porn and they are asking me for 3 grand!  What do I do?  Can someone help me?  I see the number is from Cali somewhere and it's in Agoura Hills if that's for real anyways.  Anyone can jump their numbers.

The guy who keeps calling me from the 818 # is "Anthony Palmer" .... Several people have called now bc I keep ignoring. The guy says he wants 2900 for a porno that I supposedly downloaded. I talked to a lawyer friend of mine and she said this is nothing but an extortion scam. At first I was scared, now I'm pissed. I'm a mother of a small child and pregnant with #2... What are they gonna do, throw me in jail?!

Any site or source for this? This guy keeps calling as well from the # 818-292-8194. Anyone know his company or if he's a real lawyer?

Helper, you need do nothing.  He is under investigation from the FBI Cyber Crimes Division, the AZ Attorney General's office and Infraguard is cooperating.  He and Ryan Stevens will be having some very difficult questions to answer.   Soon as their settlement account in FL is likely to be seized very soon and likely that they will be getting a federally sponsored 'holiday'.

This guy called me to. He is demanding $2900 for some porno named Gangbang Virgins that I know I did not download. Friends and neighbors use my internet all the time. I am just gonna ignore this a***ole and let him take me to court. Ive done nothing wrong, and I am innocent.

This is the plague of our legal system. 200,000+ are targeted for extortion of this type in US. These guys are indeed monitor p2p networks, but their methods are so bad... ~30% error. Don't talk to them - they will try to provoke self-incriminating statements and you may end up named in a lawsuit. But if you say nothing, they have nothing against you except an IP address collected using error prone methods. No court will accept such a proof.

This guy subpoenaed my ISP for records from an attorney named Ryan Stevens in Arizona. He then called me and claimed he had proof that I had illegally downloaded porn and his clients were willing to settle out of court for $25.000. I told him I had done no such thing and wasn't paying anything. He then got loud and abusive and said that he would take it to court and make this accusation public record if I didn't settle. I told him #1 I did no such thing, #2 I am an disabled vet and he could not sue me and get anything. He then said he would turn the evidence over to the authorities and I would be prosecuted for a felony. He called me from 818-292-8194 in California. There were 250 IP addresses on the subpoena. Can anyone tell me what the real deal is with this guy, how this played out for you, and how I can shut this guy down?

I received a call letter today from Time Warner Cable regarding my IP address being included in a subpena from a company K-beech.  I called the number listed 919-313-4636 and got transfered to a voice mail.  After leaving a message, I got a call back from the 800 number listed on this site, it was obviously a VOIP line because it was static laden.  After returning the call the same thing happend to me that happened to another person, someone came on the line but would not tell me who they were calling from, they had the audacity to tell me that they needed my address and three forms of ID, then hung up as I proceeded to ask more questions.  I do hope they call back because I so want to give them my "what for".  I'm gonna call timewarner cable IRT the letter today and see what the issue is if any.

i had the same guy call me a few different times in a months time and i thought it might have been a scam when he said that i had downloaded the movie Virgins 4 for one i hadnt ever heard of the movie and and i havent ever downloaded any movies from the internet that were xxx movies

In accordance with the above complaints, I have also received several phone calls from this fella. Not sure how he got my work number, but he made the mistake of calling me Ms. instead of Mr. on one of the various voicemail msgs he has left. I in turn left him a msg explicitly stating he needs to submit whatever claim he is making via official paperwork via snailmail. Yesterday, he disregarded my instructions to NOT call my cell nor my work number. Today, I have left another msg asking what part of DO NOT CALL and SEND IN WRITING did he not understand. This is the latest of several attempts by dwindling companies to have low-rent legal advisors with no credentials to collect "settlement" fees from people scared about heading into litigation. If it is THAT SERIOUS, then I will end up in court and I will add an update to this page if that happens to me. I doubt that this will happen though. Not a good time too, I am going through some really emotional stuff right now and my depression/anxiety meds are not working their best.

A Mike Thornton claiming to be an attorney is attempting to extort money from those using file sharing programs based on intimidation, threats and fear. He is either a fraud or a truly pathetic attorney in that his claims are unfounded, un-prosecutable and essentially rediculous. I susspect someone will soon take him out of action.-JD

Do NOT call this number back or answer it or talk to anyone from this number. They are trying to extort money from you and trying to gather any information from you. It is a scam and they are trying to intimidate you. They are NOT attorneys. Attorneys deal with things IN WRITING. And, this is a an 800 number. Total scam.

Nasty little man..made me believe he was an attounrey althought he didnt say that. Trying to strong arm me into paying over $2300 for downloading a movie..College CockHounds..I am 56 yrs old married for 20+ years. I dont think so. Threatens me with litigation..$30,000.00.. My answer was to go ahead and sue me. I will see them in court. Would not give me his company name. He is or was a debt collector. He does not have attourneys in any other state than Florida.
