That's exactly what happened to me.

I filed complaints with both the BBB and the FTC.  Calls have stopped.

These people called my relatives about a "bad check" that does not exist.  When I call them back they act like I have the wrong number and I am crazy. Said his name was Kenneth Morgan and he handles bankruptcy.

I got a simular message as above dont give then any money they are SCAMMMMMMERS!!!!!!

I filed a couple complaints against this company, one with the BBB, another with the IC3, and a third with the FTC.   Below is my response to the BBB after USB Mediation claimed that they had never heard of me (which is a crock).

I was called on my cell phone on Monday, January 27, at app. 10:15am by a blocked number.  I let it go to voicemail, as I was at work and rarely will answer a call that the number is deliberately blocked.

The voicemail was from a woman who said she was with an attorney?s office in the city where I live, and that I was to call Kenneth Morgan because I was being sued for writing bad checks and that a summons was being issued.  They gave me a number to call.  The number belongs to United Service Bureau of Mediation.

I was not able to call back immediately, as I had to wait for my lunch hour.  In the meantime, I get called into my boss?s office, and he tells me he just got the exact same phone call, and hands me a piece of paper with Kenneth Morgan?s name and the same number that I was given.  Right before I leave for lunch, I receive a call from my son, who lives in another state and has a different last name, saying that he just got the same phone call.  Later in the day I get a text from my husband who also got the call, and then the next day a text from my sister, who also lives in a different state and has a different last  name then I do, saying that she got the exact same call.  I have never given out my husband?s, son?s, or sister?s number, nor have I ever used them as a reference for anything.  The only way these people could have gotten their names is through my Facebook account.

I initially called the number I was given, and I informed the woman that answered (said her name was Julie, and I recognized her voice from the voicemail I received) that I was told to call this number, and told them that what they were doing was illegal, and to stop calling.  Before I was able to say anything further she yelled ?oh, and not paying your bills is legal??, after which she hung up on me.  If they had never heard of me, why would they say something like that?  So, I called back, and this Julie answered again and tried to pretend that she had no idea what I was talking about. She tried to get me to hold so she could transfer me elsewhere, and I refused.  I told her that I was going to file a complaint and that I knew their practices are illegal, and that they need to send me something in the mail, and after I receive it, I will be more than happy to discuss any so-called debt I might owe.    

My question to the BBB is this:  Why would any collection company call, make threats, and then give the number to a different company that has no idea what I am talking about?  Answer?  They wouldn?t.  This company called initially from a blocked number deliberately so they could later claim that they didn?t call.  Also, why would so many people make up the same story about this company?

I have already filed a complaint with the FTC and the IC3.  I want no further resolve from this then to have this company stop calling me, my employer, and my family members.   If there is a legitimate debt, please send me something in writing, and we can discuss after it is received.

I'm not sure how they got those numbers but I started to call the 888-632-4597 number. The first time I called the number they said it was a wrong number and the gentleman on the line told me that they dealt with gold, silver, and futures. I called later on and got the mediation firm. I asked what company it was and she wouldn't give me a name. She just said it was a mediation firm. I then told her I needed the Address to her "firm" to give my attorney because they have been telling my friends and family that they were going to "serve" me a summons for a bad check, that I haven't written. From the previous comments its obvious they're debt collectors masquerading as lawyers, which is also illegal.
 Knowing my rights I was going to send a cease and desist letter and a debt validation letter because they've broken the law under the fair debt collection laws. She said she was just the secretary and transferred me to a Kenneth Morgan. Oh, Ken Morgan. When he got on the line I again asked him for an address to give to my attorney. From there he became belligerent and accused me of making false claims when I told him that they released private information to my friends and family. Keep in mind that I listened to one of the voice mails and my mother has no reason to lie about something being told to her regarding someone suing me. Needless to say he never gave me an address or the company name and just became more belligerent when I asked for a validation letter. In fact he hung up on me after stating that I had no business with his firm and that they would press charges if I called back. My attorney is on stand by if they bother me again. I don't know if its a scam but it is illegal and we'll be filing a complaint with BBB, FTC, and the AG. Ask questions and get proof of anything this company says, period.

Also got the call from ritter and assoc to call a lawyer by the name of kenneth morgan.... So glad I googled the names and not numbers... They changed their toll free number to 8886324597.  888 632 4597

My story is very similar, it started last week.  The person that called me said his name is Joseph Schwartz from a law firm located in my town.  He called from a restricted number.  Called my cell phone three times and left a voicemail every time.  Also, my job two times and then called one of my kids cell phone.  He said he is giving me a courtesy call regarding the summons and complaint to be served on Friday (he called on Wednesday). He said he didn't have the full details but it is a regarding a bad check I wrote from my Chase account.  Who calls you to tell you they are serving you papers??? I was suspicious right away.   Then he told me to call 800-756-9073 and give them the case number he provided me.  I called the number and the company was Untied Service Bureau of Mediation.  The girl that answered told me that she is just the secretary and she would need to have one of the arbitrators call me back.  When I insisted on more information she put be on hold and then the line went dead after 3 minutes.  I thought the scum bag would just vaporize.  Friday came, no summons served.  Friday, I am speaking to my 20-yr old and she tells me about this Joseph Schwartz who called her cell, telling her the same story, now he says he is serving the summons Saturday. Saturday came no summons.   It made me so upset, because she was afraid that this person is going to ruin her credit.  How can these people be caught and sent to jail?

Really i don't think so...i guess you work for the thieves and scam artists.  In order to collect a debt you must follow the Fair Debt Collection Act...as far as child support that always is handled thru the courts.

Received a call from these people. They are outright scum!!!!! Call using a private number so you cannot trace them. Person stated they were from Raider & Associates, that they have received a summons and complaint order on me, and that they are ready to serve it at my home and place of business. They directed me to call the mediation office at 800-756-9073. This number is for United Service Bureau of Mediation. I talked to the person I was directed to talk to and he stated that if I did not provide a debit or credit card and pay the money owed they would serve me court papers at my place of work and that it would look very bad for me. My wife was listening and because they scared her into thinking I would lose my job she provided the information to them.

after further investigation I discovered there was no summons for me to appear in court, they have provided no written proof of the debt claimed as they should per the Fair Debt Collection Act, and they made false claims of legal action. I am in the process of filing a law suit against them for violating my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Act.

I mean come on?? Which address is it?? Can any of these be real?? Who is to say or know??

I don't know but when in doubt ask for a debt validation letter.  Make sure that it is legal and professional.
If it persists talk to your lawyer.

There is no Attorney Christopher Hoxxx in the state of New York or New Jersey.  His so called paralegal Coleen Gexxxx didn't even sign her name at the bottom of the computer generated document I received. Very unprofessional.  Ask them for a physical address see how long it takes and what they say???  Ask for a debt validation letter.  Or you can send them one as well stating what you owe and what the extra fees are for.

There will be a call come from an restricted number.  The guy will tell you that they are getting ready to serve papers on you. He will say he is from Process Servers Of America... so not!! He will then tell you to call Attoney Christopher Hoxxx.  This number goes to USB mediations

He will tell you that you must pay with a visa card to avoid legal action.  There is no Attorney Christopher House that practices in New York or New Jersey.  I asked for a debt validation letter.  It was written very poorly and unprofessional.  His paralegal Coleen Gexxx doesn't even sign her name to it???
It looked very computer generated.  So I wanted to send a debt validation letter and they were evasive and it took them a long time to give me their address.  So I am thinking scam!!

child support doesn't work that way!! Your game is a little slow.  Try it on someone younger!!  We are not talking about child support.  Child support is family law and litigated in a family court room and not litigated through a civil civil court.  This is a civil law matter not a family law matter.
If you were negligent in child support that goes through your county and the Sheriff's dept.  So want to try that again???
We are talking about unfair debt practices for  regular loans or payday loans.

Well like all the messages mine was the same thing I was so scared but the number the called me from was 800.756.9073 they told me to speak to Collean George she then tried to be very helpful she said she would talk to them and to see what could be done. Also that they would work with me I do have a load from one of the companies they mentioned so it scared me even more I am so confused I do not know what to do can someone help. I will call the consumer Law Firm to see what they can do...

So this company called my sister in law and brother in an attempt to call me. They disclosed information to her that they are not supposed to. The called me from a number 800.452.3878. I was so scared and stressed out that I could not sleep last night. So I found this company this morning

They are legitimate lawyers that help with harassment from debt collectors. They will send a cease and desist letter to them. The lawyer I spoke to over the phone looked them up with the BBB and they have an "F" rating also they are listed as a debt collector not lawyers. They do not have any power to issue summons. This company violated my consumer rights by disclosing information to a 3rd party attempting to collect a debt. I do not have to pay the law firm anything, they would charge the debtor all the attorney fees and court fees - nothing from out of my pocket. The debt collector may even end up paying me money for violating my rights as a consumer. Call the Consumer Law Firm - they have been very helpful in putting my mind at ease.

All of your stories are the same as mine. They call my house phone, my cell phone, and my old work claiming that they need to serve me with papers about bad checks written from Bank of America. In fact they said a specific day they will come to serve me. I thought, bring it on, you have no case against me. And no one showed up. I was home all day sick. Its gotten to the point where I feel as if I'm being stalked and would like to file a police report.

Called and stated that I have a summons against me and the claim number that they gave me was a docket number. The message was from some guy name davis and to call the lawyer at the firm Morgan. The number was 1-800-452-3878. I came to investigate this site and found that the same number 800 416 1937 is accociated with these people. It seems that they are changing numbers to scare you with all the legal talk stuff. They stated that they could garnish my wages and after I told them that I am not woking they wanted to set me up on a payment plan that they said thet they would not do in the first place. Mr morgan then said that I would have to pay court fees and cost which was doulbled the amount that I owed. How do you have a court fee if you don't go to court. He then stated that if I put a credit card on file that they will hold the summons. I called a legal rep and they advised me that this is just a scare and to give them the number to0 the company because real lawyers does not ask you for CC information to put on file.

Similar story as previously posted. Kevin Carlson left a message including a false docket number stating we needed to contact Christopher House at Ritter & Assoc. 800-416-1937. This was in regards to a woman who has been stealing our contact info for some time so it seemed somewhat legit until we googled the phone number and spoke with Mr. House who has no idea what we are talking about.

My fiance received a call from this number at her workplace. These scammers would sell their own kid for $$$. They have broken the law in several ways. First, it is not up to them to make a state document docket #. These docket numbers are issued by the circuit court. If they don't coincide with your states docket # system, you can bet they are not legit. Second, you can only be served by a State or Federal court by a legal process server, commonly a sheriff or duly sworn officer. Third, anyone collecting a debt can only call your workplace to locate you. The debt collecters cannot supply any information other than they are attepting to collect a debt. I got a phone call saying that I had online payday loan out on me since 2010 and i never paid them. They were going send me to jail and come to my job they had all my info. I had call a debt relief person and they advise me to dont give out my info and dont pay them. its a scam i talk to over 7 different loan relief company. then he told me he send me emails like 40 emails saying that i owe this compnay never got a single email. its a scammmmmmmm

These fools calls called me at work with some BS story about check fraud, payday loan, summons.....blah......blah.....blah.  This Richard Horowitz called giving me some bogus docket number then telling me he's on his way to serve me at work (which never happened ) and if I didn't want that to happen to call a Kenneth Morgan at 800-416-1937.    Nice try guys !!!!!

I just wanted to add something else. Christopher House claimed that the "case" number that was given to me by Kevin Carlson is actually a docket number.  Well in PA anyone can do a docket search and this is how I discovered that the number that was given is bogus.  Docket numbers are not formatted using just 4 digits and a letter.

This happened to me today.  I first got a message from someone named Kevin Carlson who claimed that he worked for Ritter & Associates and was assigned to serve a summons to me at my place of employment.  He leaves a case number and tells me to call Christopher House at 1-800-416-1937 in order to have the summons delivered to my home instead of workplace.  This number belongs to a company called United Service Bureau of Mediation.  So I call this Christopher House and at first he has no idea what I'm talking about.  He pauses for a couple of minutes and then he tells me I owe money to a payday loan company called SGQ.  I have never heard of this company before today.  He also named some other company that I guess is supposed to be SGQ's proxy.  The other company's is called First Federal Finance.  I've never heard of that company either.  Well, I tell him this and that I've never signed anything with these companies but he claims that he has paperwork showing that I signed for a loan with SGQ and 17 emails showing that SGQ tried to contact me.  I still have no idea what he's talking about.  I check my emails everyday and I know for a fact that I never received anything from that company.  I asked for the number to Kevin Carlson SGQ and First Federal Finance but he claims that because a lawsuit has been filed against it would be a conflict of interest for him to give me all of these telephone numbers.  What a crock.  I'm going to report him, Kevin Carlson, and all these companies to the PA DAG's office.

Paul Mendez you are full of crap....First of all if you owe back child support, any law related issues will come from your state's department of child support enforcement or health and social services NOT from some private collection scumbag agency.  Nice try dork!!!!

got a call from a guy (didn't state his name).  Said he was a "process server."  Something about a bad check from JP Morgan Chase. Told me to call 800-416-1937 and gave me a four digit "case number." I asked him where this "lawsuit" was out of and he said Albany New York.   I laughed.  Said was just "trying to help me out."  I told him I filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in US District Court and he can serve my papers to my attorney. I asked when he would be out and he said the "next several days."  When I stated again that I would have my attorney and local law enforcement there during the paper service, he hung up on me.  He called from a "private" line.  DO NOT CALL OR PAY THESE PEOPLE.  They will try to scare you with non-existent legal paperwork.  Real process servers do not give you a two day advance window to serve you.  They just show up.
