At my company of over 200 people we each have our own fax number.  Everyone gets faxes from these idiots weekly or even more often.

Get a black sheet of construction paper and repeatly fax it back to them.

It uses up that expensive toner on their end, and they will get the hint, "stop sending to us and we'll stop sending to you"

I like your approuche to this problem how you realize that your not the one who has to waste time calling people who are odviously not interested in going to cancun through this company I imagine that all you have to do is put them on caller ID and then check it when it rings and don't answer it if it is them on the other end however I am only a kid and even know I am well educated I am not so sure that I no how to help you guys that have this problem through your fax machine. I do imagine that the caller ID solution will be a realiable way to counteract this annouance and it may well discourage any other atemps to sell travel pacages that most likely do not exist.

johnson I haven't had the misfortune of being cotacted be these prank callers, but what you did was very clever and it may point to one of two things 1st that whoever this prank caller or prank callers are they work as part of a hospital staff most likely a receptionist who would have easier access to a fax machine. the 2nd possiblity is that in his or her hastiness for a cover story they said the first thing that popped into their head in this case that you had a wrong number. I bet they really felt stupid after they realized it was you who called them back. thats what limited information I have for now I may keep following this story as it becomes more of a problem and there are more people writing on the subject.

We just got back from our trip to Cancun.  It was AWESOME!!!!!!  I definately do NOT agree with their marketing methods - but they delivered a stellar vacation.  All we had to do was take  tour and listen to a sales pitch.  It was supposed to be 90mins but ended up being 2 hours so that was disappointing but so worth it to spend a week in paradise.  They pulled out all the stops to get us to buy, but were not overly aggressive.  We would definately go again!

Yes, dispute the charge if possible.  CC companies charge from $35 and up to the companies who have 'chargebacks'.

The scam is that the article is completely fake.  It says a lot about the terrible state of mainstream journalism that a lot of people actually thought this was a real article.

Fax Machine
"A fool and his money are soon parted."  Someone showed me one of their FAXes and I called them.  I asked for their website and looked for contact information there.  Nothing.  I asked them for information about their company, and they were unwilling to give me anything.  End of story.  Except for charity, we all know not to give money to strangers.  So if a stranger asks you for money, regardless of his promises, feel free to give him some.  Just be aware that it will be a gift and you'll never see anything back. Why do they keep sending FAXes?  Because sometime someone may pick one up and give them a thousand dollars for a vacation.  That's certainly an incentive for dishonesty.  Such is the nature of the real world.  We all do stupid things occasionally.  Waste money.  Make stupid decisions.  Giving money to strangers is one of them.

We get these faxes at our office every night & usually just throw them away... but I called yesterday on the $314 per person Cancun trip & spent about an hour on the phone with them trying to find the "catch".  Didn't find this website until today and now feel really stupid that I went through with giving them my credit card info.  Haven't faxed my signature back yet though... can they still charge the card without that?  Though I agree that it sounds shady, I still haven't read anyone's post on here though that says exactly what the "scam" is... are the hotels really crappy or does the offer just not exist at all?  Still trying to decide whether to go through with this or not.  Any help would be appreciated!!!

Kellen,
I think we are going to go ahead and take our vacation.  We will just hope for the best.  Maybe I am being niave, but it seems like all should go well.  I specifically asked about 'hidden fees' that may arise and I was assured that our taped conversation promised me no more fees unless I traveleed Dec. 22 - Jan. 5, which I am not.  I am not going unitl March, but I will also keep you updated.

My friend and I recently fell victim to this possible scam. Right now, we are both currently unsure how it exactly scams the consumer, but I am diligently looking in to it. For our safety, we are going to cancel the vacation that we have booked, if possible. Currently, the transaction is pending on his credit card. The credit card company has stated that it can not do anything until it has actually been charged and then the charge to the card can be challenged.
So far I've done some research on the gig and things don't seem to make much sense. I will continue to look further in to it for the sake of others though.
However, we have been wondering if anyone has gone through with the entire vacation and what happens if one does not sign and return the fax that is supposed to be sent back within so many days?
Also, after Googling the fax number on the receipt from earlier in this post, it comes back with an area code of Orlando, Flordia. So this may actually be based in the United States with the possibility of getting government agencies involved to help get this taken care of.
Anyone who would like to help or would like more information about what I've done thus far and what I plan to do, please feel free to use this page as a way to communicate. I will be posting updates.

No there is nothing you can do.  If you used your credit card report it to your bank and tell them you were scammed and they can handle it.  I am starting a telethon on their number.  At 4 cents a min it will cost them LMAO.

I'm curious if anyone has followed through and actually taken this vacation?

Should I pay the taxes and take the vacation or just pay the $683 and run.

I'm curious to know if anyone has ever followed through and actually taken a vacation that was booked through this company?  My friend purchased the package yesterday and is thinking she will still follow through and see what happens.  Will she make it to Cancun and have a place to stay?

Wow! I am so glad that I checked this out while still on the line with these scammers. They tried several methods to coax me into giving them my credit card information. When I called them out for their scam, they cursed at me. Thank goodness I found these complaints before I became another scammee.

Did you receive credit for your purchase?  And if so, did it come from the vacation company or your credit card issuer?
