I too got the one ring.  The call then appeared to cut off but it instead rolled to my answering machine.  Left this number and a 6-digit access code.

I too opted to call the number on the back of my card and the guy at Chase transferred me to the Fraud Dept (sounds like it's in India) who went thru 2 of today's charges (my husband got gas and apparently went to Walmart!), but because I already read this board I asked him if this is all because I did a $6,300 balance transfer yesterday and he said it absolutely was.  So, glad I already read the above or else I would have thought my card had been scanned...this guy did NOT bring up the balance transfer before I inquired.

To all future readers:  Just know that if you do any kind of balance transfer, the following day this ridiculous, automated, and somewhat alarming Fraud Department message may be triggered and could appear on your answering machine.  Oh and he also mentioned having to release the "hold" it put on my account.

i received multiple calls from this number at various times during the day. I answered the first one and it was automated and i hung up. i heard them say they were Chase and wanted to verify some activity on my card (around 9am). during work, i got about 2-3 missed calls, same number. after work i called the number on my card, to which the CSR verified that number is NOT a Chase number and they did NOT call me to verify anything. they told me my card was fine and i had no suspicious activity.
She said the best thing to do in a situation like this is always call the number on your card. do not ever give you account number etc. Chase will never ask for this info, they will read YOU the number if there is an issue. She made a note on my account that i received a fraudulent call and she took down the number.
i got another call this evening (830pm).  dont know how to make it stop!

Chase Fraud Department and completely automated.  I entered the code number  it presented me(via voice mail) with recent balance transfers question.Questions with multiple answers to choose from to verify they are "talking" with the right customer. No account questions asked.
It asked for confirmation (press 1), and that's all.  At no time did it ask for any other information . It offered me the option to receive future alerts as text messages.
That was it:. Great Service! and safe.

It's a legit number, you should get a reference number to call back with (NOT YOUR CARD NUMBER), they just want to verify balance transfers.

Chase Fraud Department confirming my recent activity of balance transfer. That's the only thing I had to answer, and it was all automated (perhaps because today is a holiday?).

Chase Fraud Department confirming my activity since 11/6/12.  Started with my use of a balance transfer that I did on their online site, then they wanted to comfirm every purchase since then.  She also asked if I would be making large charges or traveling outside the US the next couple of weeks.

THIS ALL STARTED BECAUSE I CHOSE TO DO A 0% INTEREST BALANCE TRANSFER.

I receive calls from this # at all hours of the day and night.  I have blocked their number, but the phone still rings once (it woke me up this a.m.) and these are harassing calls as far as I am concerned.  Can't anyone stop them from calling??  I am on the no call list, also.

If in doubt call the number on the back of your card or on your statement.  That's always safe.

twice today, I got automated messages from "Chase Fraud Dept", saying, "press any key to continue", but when I press the any key, it hangs up.  So I called this number, and got automated verification procedure for a balance transfer.  It asked me to input the reference number, but not having one, I hit a bunch of 0's, and it apparently verified from my phone number CID, as I did not speak to anyone, nor input any other numbers.  After 3 questions, they got to the nut of it:  did I authorize a transfer?

Received a message with a code number.  I returned call: it was Chase Fraud Department and completely automated.  I entered the code number and it presented me with the amounts of my recent balance transfers.  It asked for confirmation (press 1), and that's all.  At no time did it ask for any other information (in particular, account numbers).
It offered me the option to receive future alerts as text messages.
That was it: end of call.

Number appears to be legit. I initiated an online balance transfer yesterday and got a v-mail from this number today, along with a reference number. I called phone number and entered the reference number upon request. The system then read to me the details of my \balance transfer yesterday, and asked me to confirm if that was accurate and if I approved it. Once I confirmed, the call ended shortly afterward. At no point was I asked to provide any personal info (not even my name). The entire call was less than a minute long.

It is Chase Fraud Dept verifying account activity on a balance trasnfer. If you write down the reference number & punch it in, they do not ask for any account information. 8/13/2011

It's legit. They were Chase Fraud Department  verifying a balance transfer I'd done yesterday. They did not ask for the credit card number or any sensitive information. With identity theft and stolen credit cards so rampant, I'm glad they are verifying this activity-can't be to careful.

I just called Chase Credit Card Services and informed them of this number. They checked through their directories and confirmed that this is NOT a number from them. They also noted that they would never ask you to state your full credit card number or anything else like that, as they would have that information when calling you. So, this is definitely a fraudulent number and you should report it and more importantly, do not call that number back or any number they may tell you to use. Only call the number on the back of your card, or the number from your account online. That advice was also given to me from Chase. Hope this helps.

Got call from this number; they said they were Chase fraud and were verifying recent balance transfer; they gave a reference # and this number to call back. When I called back, they did not ask for credit number, just the reference number, and then they gave date of the balance transfer and asked for verification.

It does seem to be Chase Fraud Department. They leave you a reference # and if you input it they give you the exact activity in question with amount and date. They do not ask for any personal info.

I agree with Jeremy, you should always contact your bank, etc with a number that you know to be valid.  I just called Chase, and they did verify that they had tried to contact me about an unusual transaction that I started yesterday.

When I called them back, they claimed they could not pull up my account info by my name or the phone number it called me at. The person wanted me to pull out my Chase card and read off the full account number to them. There is just no way I was ever going to do that. NOBODY should ever do that. This is a common identity/credit theft practice, just like phishing emails.

Call the number on the back of your card, NOT this phone number.
