Legitimate call from Charles Schwab. Not a telemarketing call.

800 435-4000  is the main Schwab customer call-in number.  It is likely to be as account follow up call.

I received a call today from the number listed below, it was Charles Schwab Brokerage...I have an account with them and I made changes today, which they were calling about.

800 435-4000 was the number they called from.

That is not Schwab's number.  You had better call the number on your account summary and check into this.  It is a SCAM.

I have  distribution coming from them as my acct will be closed due to it was through former employer.....I had sent in paperwork in response to /part of what I had received in the mail.....message was left with response number as they requesting additional info. all seems legit to me at this point.

Ah, Schwab is open 24 hours a day seven days a week.

This was a legitimate call from Charles Schwab asking to confirm some details about a foreign wire transfer that I had requested earlier in the day.

If it's Charles Schwab - why are they calling random numbers?  Lacking money?  Need to bilk people?  Geeze - they need to get a life too.

Got an email saying to call the 800 435 4000 number above to update my statement.account,
I don't have a Schwab account and the rep that answered wanted my social security number to access my account! Total scam!  Since when is Schwab open on Sunday night at 9:40pm EST,

BEWARE.. I bet all the updates here saying this number is legit are planted and phony.

When my portfolio manager calls from his desk at their Indianapolis call center, sometimes it shows up exactly like you have described it.  He doesn't know why, and he said they are trying to fix it.  Most of the time it says Charles Schwab, but not always.  He has managed my money for years, and I trust what he says.

I received a call today to verify an on-line wire transfer I submitted.  As normal they asked me several questions to verify my identity.  All information was validated and my transfer was completed.  I decided to look here for the 800 number they used and it dawned on me, we should all have a verification question we could ask in return to validate that Schwab representative is actually the person calling.  As I think more on this I feel the same for all my financial account holders.  We all should try asking our institutions to provide that type of assistance as another step to prevent fraudulent calls.  I do have on my cell phone "Fake-a-Call" and it does work so I know that this type of spoofing can happen.  I hope anyone who reads this will think about asking for a similar function next time you talk to your representatives.  I work for a F100 company and security is the highest focus for all our employee's and I am going to suggest we create a method to provide our customers with this type of security feature.  I believe it should be a two way street when it comes to identity.  Thanks for reading.

Most certainly is Charles Schwab. They were following up with a rollover of assets from my 401k to an IRA.  Good Customer Service!

Schwab by Phone does list this number on their website. Looks legit.

I received a call from this # and it is Charles Schwab of whom I am a client.  Just wanted me to explain my responses to a recent satisfaction survey.  Good P.R.

Received call but didn't recognize number. Schwab left VM. It was legit since I was to join a conference call with my sister-in-law who has an account with them. I quickly called her to ask Schwab to try again, after which we completed our call. Wish their caller ID said Schwab - would have helped.

Called me, claimed to be Schwab employee and wanted to review my portfolio. I do have a Shwab account.
The only fishy thing is they asked for me by a nickname that Schwab does not know...

Just missed a call from this number. My only business with them is an employer-held 401k. From the looks of another poster it was  generic call wanting to discuss future money goals. I dont know how they got this number, though, and it annoys me they called.

Call from 800-435-4000 and caller id said:  "TOLL FREE CALLE" .  The number IS the general number for Charles Schwab and I am a customer.  I called back and Schwab said they did NOT call me.  So some scam caller is using that number fraudulently.  Also Schwab said they would show Schwab as part of the caller id.

Received call on my cell phone, asked for my husband, told him he wasn't at this number,,,he said "okay" and hung up.  He didn't say what he wanted and didn't ask HOW he could get in touch with my husband.  I read that this is a call from Charles Schwab,,we don't do business with them, so I assume that this was just a call trying to "drum up busines".  I will block this number, so they cannot bother ME nor waste my cell phone minutes.

Received a call from this number on my cell phone today and yesterday - was wondering how they got my cell number - they left no message; decided to call the number back and it is Charles Schwab - I am a customer.

Schwab called asking some general questions about my goals and such. Nothing urgent.
