They called me looking for Anne Keyes.  Her address is almost the same as mine but the wrong phone number.  I keep getting these kinds of calls for Anne Keyes and she across the street from me in a gray house and has since disconnected her landline number.  She(Anne)thinks she isn't going to get caught, but I called the number back and spoke to the lady that called me and gave her her work number.  Anne, you can't hide from Collection Agencies forever----wrong numbers or even using my number---you will get caught & and I am on to your s***.  I have had my number for almost 9 years this August, and I am tired of getting calls for you when I know you are behind it all by giving out my number thinking that I will fall for your crap-----you are very mistaken-----Anne Keyes you are on NOTICE as you will get called at your job since you won't respond to me nicely face to face.

If you informed them in writing, have your attorney contact THEM.  File a complaint with FCC.gov & FTC.gov for every call they make, refer them to this website for additional information.  Post your complain number and we can piggy back upon the complaint.  When the FCC or FTC has enough information, they will contact them about *YOURS* and everyone else who piggybacks on that complaint #.

We can force them to behave; but, we need to work together.  When a company does illegal activity over the wire, and goes interstate, it is a federal offence.  In addition to here, for your first report, and keep a record, give the FCC and FTC every site you can find that files phone complaints.  Plus releasing your complaint number to the public will get everyone in lockstep with the complaints and it will make it easier for Uncle to track their behavior. NCO calls to me are legit for the next 6 months, at which point I will slam them for every violation, until they quit calling.  Which occurred very quickly after my complaint and publication of information and complaint #.  FTC and FCC both ask for references to complaints, and take it very seriously.  Single complaints get lost, we must band together.

If the debt is legit, there are few options to do about these calls; however, certain levels of what one might called harrassing are permitted (laws vary by state).  Most states restrict collection agencies activities and you can collect big money on a per call basis, if you are not the debtor and they refuse to comply.  Best bet if you are not the debtor is to notify them in writing that they are to desist.  If then they do not, and you are not the debtor, you can sue for big money.  (See my other comments regarding NCO.)
If you are the debtor, my best suggestion is to learn your states time limitations on debt, and then if you can't do anything.  Buy a Call Blocker.
There are a few blockers on the market; but, not many, if any are that good.
If you own a cell phone, I highly recommend "Mr. Number" available in the Android Application Marketplace which allows you to use wildcards. ex: Portfolio recovery with a wild card would be (847994*) to block calls.
Plus adding calls to block is easy as click-block.

Yes, they've been sued; but, by whom. If you report them to the FCC or FTC AND, send them a letter telling them to desist calling you and only communicate by mail, they will stop calling.  However, they will then (as they do now, if you owe the money) to take you to court.   Laws vary by state.
EX: In SC if the last payment was made over three years ago, and you haven't negotiated with the company or made any arrangement (this would be called by Law, 'ringing the bell'.and reset the timer to three years in SC) But, if you haven't 'rung the bell' then the debt is noncollectable.  They may not harass you after the three years; but, in SC they may also NOT use the courts (ex: sue) you for the money.  Sending them a letter after the time indicated by state will cause them to stop (in this case, probably completely) or they risk lawsuit.
Unfortunately, no matter what we think or want... if the debt is legal and legit and no one has asked them to stop calling in writing, they are permitted to continue.

No, report it to the FCC.GOV and FTC.gov.  BBS is ok too!  Think about it.  Someone owes some one money.  They read that they harass callers to get the money.... who do you think they'll hire?

Just got a call from 800-569-9633 on my cell phone. Ms. Singleton is the name this person gave, it was obvious from background noise that it was in a call center of some sort. this ms singleton ask for a Brendon MaCento???? stated they it was urgent that they call back today as soon as possible. This is NCO financial services who calls all times of the day and night. Do not send these people any money. I spoke directly to Capital One and payments are to be sent to Capital One only and use address that is on your bill. The NCO people are rude, crude and they call in on several different numbers this is the first time they left a message BUT, they did not say who they were with. When you google, you find out who they are & that several complaints have been issued against these people.

I am sick of these people calling me day and night and at work. I have told them time and time again to not call me at work and they continue. I believe in the state of Texas that is not permited if you tell them not to call at work. Also I don't have a home phone and they use my minutes on my cell phone. I have cancer and cannot afford them to keep calling me.

They call both my work and cell phone numbers but won't identify who they are or what they want except to tell me to call them back at a different number. The most recent number was 888-691-8257. They are extremely discourteous in their phone manners and entirely unwilling to state the purpose of the call.

Always get the names of the people you talk to and what time because trust me they keep excellent records.  Even if the representative doesnt notate the account the computer will stamp who looked at it.  They record ALL phone calls and can pull the recordings also.

NCO financial keeps calling me.  In fact they have called me 15 times today alone.  I have requested copies of what debt they are trying to collect and they tell me to contact the original creditor who they say is Capital One.  I call Capital One and they don't show the debt owed.  I told NCO Financial this and they said that is "unimportaint to the situation".  How can the fact that I don't owe any money be "unimportaint to the situation"?  They are rude and half the time don't want to give you their name.  I have even sent them a cease communications letter which they are ignoring.  They contacted my family as well!  This is incredible!  I have filed a complaint with the BBB and www.ftc.gov regarding this matter.  I suggest anyone that has them start to call go ahead and file a complaint becuase they definitly won't stop or slow down!

This number in violation of federally mandated FDCPA and FCRA laws has continuously (more than 9 calls per day)after being told 6 times called my home phone(listed and connected only 5 days) and cell phone.  They were told 8 times to remove my numbers. I am not the intended recipient of the calls and the person they are calling moved over 5 1/2 years ago.

It's gotten to the point where they call every 10 minutes and all hopes of getting anything done have literally flown out the window.
I'm starting to wonder if I'm on redial or something... All I know is that it has something to do with Capital One that was resolved years ago. WILL THIS EVER END??!! Or will I have to throw my phone to the dog?
