I got this same call...also maybe looking for a guy I broke up with over a decade ago (they said what I THINK was his name, but mispronounced it so I'm not 100% sure he's who they're looking for)...They'd have to be doing some serious detective work to connect me with him, I'm married and my name has changed and I've moved three times since I dumped the dude, plus we've had no contact since 2003! Of course, if he owes somebody money...LOL.

got a call on my cell from a woman who said her name is erin, but she didn't say a company name or reference number. all she said she was that she was trying to get in touch with someone whom i've never heard of. not likely i'll be returning the call...

I got a call  from 800-436-5262 and Susan left a message that she was inquiring about a fan clutch and had an invoice number...We own a mechanic shop but I have no such invoice number.

Received this call today, recorded message asking for a first name that kind of sounds like mine (purposefully garbled) and then my maiden name. Message stated they were calling from KNSKNF(?). I have no student loans and my credit report on all three reporting sites is completely clean as of last month. I received a similar call two years ago from an agency threatening to sue me over a debt that I didn't incur over 7 years ago - there was never any follow up. These companies purchase debt that is no longer able to be legally collected upon for pennies and then use illegal tactics to try and harass people into paying. If you legitimately owe money, it will show up on your credit report (companies that you owe money to have no problem reporting you to a credit agency) or other legitimate correspondence will be provided to you - not an automated recording purposefully designed to obfuscate the name of the person they're looking for.

He's correctly identified you as someone with nefarious intent who only stands to benefit if your potential victims answer the phone and provide an opportunity for you to take your best shot at tricking them out of their hard earned money.

You obviously don't understand how very easy it is to glean all of this from your post. That's why you're condemned to running scams on the phone and using the internet to try to control the damage sites like this do to crooks like you.

Because if your not family, friend or someone I actually do business with, I'm not answering it! You have nothing to say to me I want to listen to, nothing to sell I want and I'm not falling for scammers that fall into the heading of nothing I'm going to listen to.

Well, that's because "these" people are smarter than your normal target. Why would anyone answer an unknown number? In this day & age if an unfamiliar caller doesn't leave a message it means one of two things. It's a telemarketer or some scumbag trying to run a scam on you. Why does that bother you? I guess we can all answer THAT question!

Why don't most of you folks actually answer the phone to see who's calling rather than just reporting you received a call from a certain number? How are you going to find out who's calling and why they're calling in you don't answer? I SUSPECT MOST PEOPLE WHO JUST REPORT THE CALL AND DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE SUSPECT IT'S A COLLECTION AGENCY. Why else wouldn't you answer a phone call.

I got a call from them today looking for my ex of more than a decade ago, who I KNOW does not have my number. This is what these scummy collections companies do, after harassing the person they are after doesn't work, they try to identify their associates, friends, family members, etc and by calling us, 1) try to embarras the person and 2) get us to do their dirty work by giving out info on the person or turnin around and harassing the person ourselves. Just resist! Don't call the number back and don't tell your friend/family member about the call, thy already know the collections agency is after them.

Got 2 messages... Googled number and found my way here. The number appears to be from General Revenue and appeared on the rhode island higher education assistance authority web site. I live in MA and have never taken out a student loan. Best part is they're calling in regards to my son... Who turns 14 this week. Gonna be some time before he needs student loans.

Called today looking for my sister. Like why do these people keep harrassing me looking for her. I pay my bills and Im being harrassed cause she desnt...WTF is this!!!

Also got two calls from this number yesterday as did both of my in laws my sister in law and my husband supposedly about my brother and his where about a. When my husband asked how they got his info they said they googled him. Even if its a collection agency I don't think they have the right to harass other wimple so they????

called asking about an address that doesn't exist in our neighborhood, gave a reference # gave a name of someone we don't know, and then after all this, stated they'd put us as a refernce!!!!!!!!! said no don't know what or who you're taliking about.  they had a street address but no town or city.  why they callling here? they also only had a first or last name, wasn't american.

Seems as though they are looking for someone related to me. But it also sounded like they were using one of those voice scramblers. Sounded like a robot, or serial killer.

Same deal - called & left a vm on my home & cell regarding someone  I supposedly know.  Gave a reference number, rep's name, but no company. Weird.

Got a call at home & on my cell - no clue who this is or why they're calling.  The person said his name, a reference #, & said it was regarding a person I supposedly know.. Looked it up & it's a student loan collection agency. My student loans have been paid off for a LONG time (have the paperwork to prove it) so no clue how they even got my numbers.

They were looking for my sister, but wouldn't give her last name or their company/location information so that I could look them up and verify that they weren't a bunch of lousy phishers.  So I told them off.  We'll see if the robocalls trail off.

It is a collection agency - I got nasty with the caller and then immediately got a bunch of robocalls from seemingly unrelated phone numbers.  If you piss them off, it seems like they submit your number to a bunch of spammers

Left msg. to call said it was a personal business matter and left a 'case' # for reference. When I called they said they had the wrong person?

Alicia left a message for me, personally, and a reference number.  When she said what it is in reference to, I could not understand what she was saying (I'm sure that was on purpose).  Just out of curiosity, I returned the call.  They were looking for a "neighbor" of mine, whom I had never heard of.  I asked how the heck they got my name, and she said I as listed as a neighbor.  It is a collection agency -- don't take their calls and don't return their voice messages.  They are a nuisance.
