This is totally a scam.  I called  Champion Communications at P.O. Box 267007 in Weston, Florida 33326-9917 at 1-800-439-0426 and talked with someone named Vanessa, who refused to tell me when any alleged phone calls  were made.  She said they were made to a horiscope line, which is ridiculous, as I've never made any such phone calls. She said a supervisor would call me back, but it sounds like that will never happen, according to previous posts. The charge was $11.70.   I am going to report this to a private investigator friend to find out where I can report this.  Reporting them to the Better Business Bureau does not seem to be stopping them and they are preying on innocent people.

I figured it was a scam
Asked if I could record the call
They freaked out, would not talk to me, and said a manager would call.
Never got a call back

Never pay they guys. It's a scam. They prey on some small businesses who do not have the accounting staff or knowledge to challenge bills. They also sometimes use small amouints ($9.99) figuring people will just pay it.

Please, reprot them to your state AG's consumer protection agency. The more they get reported, the better chance we have of stopping these b*****ds.

i recieved a bill from champion communications today.   Like everyone else ....i called my phone provider and they said i did NOT make any 900 call from my phone  and they did check 1/12/2012 the date i was billed for.   the bill was only for 9.98   claimed it was 2 minutes.    I called the company but since bill is in husbands name .... they refused to speak with me.  Said ONLY he can call them.
Ive now reported them to BBB and RIP_OFF.   thanks all for more advice of reporting them to FBI and FCC.  I know the bill isnt much ....but a thief is a thief!    the number they claimed i called was   900-787-2325.   i looked it up on internet ..... it is a hacker site.   I feel sorry for anyone who gives this scam any money.     Oh my bill looked fake too.     the logo on bill  does not matter the logo on the Champion Communication online site.

Around a month ago the same thing happened to me. I received a bill from this company for $150.00 for their services in the month of 11/11 and I got very upset. I called Champion and they told me that it was for some kind of gaming stuff on the computer and they would not accept the fact that I said I did not make any calls through my pc in regards to any 900 calls and I did not give anyone permission to use my number for anything like that. I got nowhere arguing on the phone with them. I am also on a fixed income and needless to say I have already been the bankrupcty route before and don't like to have bills now, so instead of having the bill hanging over my head or getting larger due to not paying it, I got my taxes back and just paid the $150.00. Well guess what, I received another bill today for        $ 323.90 and there's no way in hell I'm paying this one. I called Champion again and they said those calls also came from my phone. I argued with the man again and told him I did not make the calls and I am not paying the bill. All the guy would say to me was I will make a note that you are disputing it and we will look into it and  give you a call back in a few days.  I then called my phone provider and they said that none of it came from our phone. My phone provider said I should tell Champion that they need to provide me with the name of the person that gave them permission to use my # and to provide me with more proof that it came from my phone or contact my lawyer. I will post again after I hear more.
They suckered my once but it isn't gonna happen again.

I asked Champion communications to send me a  bill that showed the itemized charges.  They did with  a postage paid return envelope.  I called them and asked them for info on the companies they were processing the charges for, so I could contact the companies and contest the charges.  They said they were unable to provide that information.   I guess they just wanted me to send them money  because they said I owed it to them.  What a scam.

I sent the postage paid return envelope back to them with a note inside that said the check was in the mail.  At least I cost the jerks a few pennies on postage for wasting my time.

Nobody should ever pay Champion communications anything ever.   If nobody ever pays them anything, they will have to go out of business and they will stop harassing people.

This is a scam.  Everyone needs to file a complaint with your phone company, the BBB, and work to get the FBI involved.  Please report any and all attempts by Champion Communication to collect on calls made to 900 numbers from your home, cell or business directly to the BBB and FBI.  This won't get resolved without outside intervention.  Above all, don't pay the bill.  Acting upon the advice of my telephone provider, I was told that the company is actively on the fraud watch list, and that I should not pay the bill.

We have had the same experience as everyone above.  We never made the calls, and we get the run aound every time they send us a bill.  Below I pasted part of the FCC website dealing with 900 charges.  My understanding of the process is, if you contact Champion, and claim there was a billing error, they must provide evidence that they received permission to use our number.  I told that to their customer service agent, and she started yelling at me.  I then mailed them their bill claiming billing error.  I don't expect them to follow the FCC rules, but if they want to fight with me, they will lose.  I hope they take me to court, so this would get resolved

Also, I agree with Jack's comments above.

I hope the information below helps.   FIGHT ON!!!

The 900 Number Rule has procedures for resolving billing disputes. Always check your telephone bill for 900 number charges. For each 900 call, your statement should include the date, time, and, for services that have per-minute rates, the length of the call. These charges must appear separately from local and long distance charges. Your statement also must include a local or toll-free number for questions about your pay-per-call charges.

Under FCC regulations, the phone company cannot disconnect your regular local or long-distance service if you don't pay a 900 number charge. However, you could be blocked from making future calls to 900 numbers if you don't pay legitimate 900 number charges.

If you find an error on your bill, follow the instructions on your statement. They will tell you who to call or write to dispute the charge. In most cases, it will be your local or long-distance telephone company, but it could be the 900 number company or an independent firm that provides billing services for that company.

You must notify the company listed on your bill within 60 days from the date the first statement containing the error was sent. The company must acknowledge your notice in writing within 40 days unless it has resolved the dispute by that time. Within two billing cycles, but no longer than 90 days, the company must:

correct the billing error and notify you of the correction, or
investigate the matter and either correct the error or explain the reason for not doing so.
A company cannot charge you to investigate or respond to a billing dispute. No one can try to collect the disputed charge from you ? or report it to a credit bureau ? until the company handling the dispute either has corrected the error or explained its reason for not doing so. Companies that don't comply with these rules lose their right to collect up to $50 of each disputed charge.

However, even if the 900 number charge is removed from your bill, the service provider might pursue the charge some other way, such as through a collection agency. If so, you have additional rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

We received a bill for $219.53 dated 3/5/09 on 4/20/09 and I did call the toll free number and spoke with Juan and inquired about the bill.  He wanted the account number and I told him that it was our telephone number of 6786251000.  Juan then asked me for the area code and phone number and insisted that I confirm my first and last name.  I told him that was none of his concern since we have never had an account with Champion Communications!  Juan then stated that he would remove our account from overdue status.  I informed Juan that we would see him in court if they attach our credit status with this fraud and I would surely and immediately report it to BBB then I hung up!

Covington Lodge you may want to edit (if you can) your post and take out your home phone number - or e-mail the site and ask them to remove it; probably not a good idea to post it on a public site.

Was the operator's name Shirley?

Seriously, I got the same type of bill from Champion for my business, which logs in every entry through the door security system. No one was in the building at 3 a.m. These calls never orginated from our business. I'm not wasting any time contacting Champion. I'm just contacting the BBB, Fla and Pa AGs, the FTC and our attorney.

But ... We have had issues before with people entering the phone system remotely and making unauthorizied calls overseas. We have since closed that door, but it got me to thinking, maybe Champion has a robot that searches out open doors, makes 900 calls to itself on a 900 line it owns, then charges the business for the bills. All over the internet the phones numbers in question seem to be the same, for rougly the same time and cost. Just a thought.

We received a bill for $10.00, I know that isn't much but it is when you are on a fixed income. My invoice had a time and date of when I was suppose to have made the call and I called my phone company and they said that no call came from our phone on that date or time. We told them to contact our att. When we told them that they hung up the phone before we could. Before she did she said that her supervisor will be calling us back.

I first received a bill from Champion Communications last August saying I owed them $219.50. I knew that I DID NOT owe this because we had not made the calls. I called Champion and they could not even tell me what they were for  or who autorized the calls. The man just kept saying yes yes. I called the BBB of Florida and repoorted them and I thought they had resolved it because that was what they said. I then got a bill in Nov. for $9.96 no mention of the $200. I sent them a letter and told them I didn't owe this and since they made no response to the BBB I considered the matter closed. I heard nothing else from them until this week and I've got a bill for $239.46 from 6/25/09-8/12/09. Now what do I do. This letter they sent me they very convintentally left their phone number off but I have one of the letters they sent me with it one it. I'm going to call and explain to them again I do not owe this and if I keep getting harassed I am going to have to talk to a lawyer. Does anyone have any other ideas I could use? Thanks

We got one in Arizona too. Call them and burn up the minutes while harrasing them. Have them waste money on postage, but do not send any money.

My phone company logs all calls made at my number. It wasn't on there.

Continue to receive letters from this company about a charge they say I owe them. I did not make the call, nor did I  authorize anyone else to use my phone account. Reports on the web about Champion Communications from Weston, FL are negative. Pretty much a scam. Just reprorted the to the FCC, BBB and US AG, and WA state AG
