I didn't get a call from this number, it is the number on the sticker on my new citibank cards that I ordered.
If you order new cards from citibank, and you do not activate them within a few days, you get called by this number to make sure that you either 1. really did order the cards, and someone else didn't order them, and 2. that you actually got the cards.

Number was on a new Citibank CC to call and activate the card. So for me it was a legit num to call.

The # belongs to Citi Cards, charge card company. At least that's who answered when I called the # back.

The citi Number posted on my 'call this number to activate your card' sticky
cali guy 2010-07-06 16:30:43 Unknown
it is a citi bank number... idiot.

I have received new cards from Citi with this number on it.
I wasn't going to trust that it was a real card from Citi because the number was new and not the same one on my current card.
I have then called the Citi card number on my old card and went through them. As it turns out they had indeed released a new card to me, and the number is legit.
So... yes, if you call that number, you are definitely calling a citicards activation line.
You don't have to trust me. Call the citicard number on your card and check with them

dude! this is the number on new citibank credit card sticker for activation. Whenever you receive new card they have this number on it!
Kira 2008-02-20 06:42:17 Unknown
This is a real number, I called it to activate my new citi diamond card.

This was the number to activate my new Citi CashReturns credit card.

Also - to respond to Bill -- Citibank WILL call you at times to verify your account information if they see a suspicious charge (e.g. an unusually large amount or a charge from a foreign country). If you're freaked out at all, just call the customer service # on the back of your card and they'll fix the problem for you, whatever it is.
x 2008-01-11 02:10:16 Unknown
OK - I called the number back, they reported addresses and cc info that shouldn't be known to a scammer. Then, i logged on to my Citibank account and saw a notification that the "card i had not activated" meant they would send me a new card - JUST like the 800 number told me. Don't be too freaked out by all the people posting here. just call the # on your CC to confirm that this is legitimate. It is.
WTF 2008-01-09 00:09:41 Unknown
Called like three times today. But after reading this, it must be to activate my citibank cc that's just been sitting there...
thanks 2008-01-08 23:48:18 Unknown
Thanks. I got several calls with no message and no response when I answered, but once I saw your message noticed that the number is the number on the cc I never called to activate.
bill 2008-01-08 15:31:45 Unknown
i googled the phone number while the call was coming in and came across this page. these replies were enough for me to not answer the call. i wrote down the number and called citibank who confirmed that they are not affiliated with this number and had no record of anyone calling me. citibank will never call you and ask for account information. the only time they will ask for information is if you call them. my advice is to ignore the call and then try one of the phone numbers on their website if you want to make sure that they're not trying to reach you.

Absolutely a SCAM. Give them NO information. It is a fake...DO NOT CALL and give any information. They send you this real looking letter saying they sent you a card, but you haven't activated. You call and get some strange people on recordings repeating the same thing over and over. Strange, bizarre, and absolutely false. They clearly are the ones that are putting "they're ok" messages on here. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!

got a call from this # a few days ago, called it back. it's citi cards ... they sent me a new card a few weeks ago and i hadn't activated it (which i already knew). only got the call once though ... just activated my new card this morning.

B***s***... if you get a call from this number call Citibank directly via the number on your card to verify if they are trying to contact you.

For ONCE this is a legitimate customer service call! It is Citicards making calling customers to whom they have sent replacement cards that have not yet been activated...they are following-up out of concern as to whether the unactivated cards were actually received and to notify that the present cards will not work after October 14th...They should have their company name on the ID though...

Rec'd call @ 20:01. No message left.
R. 2007-09-28 01:04:03 Unknown
They called twice. After the second time I called back and it acted like an account activation line for Citibank. The guy wanted my card number and password. When I asked why he needed a password he immediately hung up. I called Citibank Fraud and they verified that Citibank did not try to contact me. I would ignore this number and report it to www.donotcall.gov if they call you.
Chris 2007-09-27 23:52:08 Unknown
They called looking for someone I never heard of with an "urgent" message that their credit card has not been activated and to call them at this number. Could be a scam.
