I just had the same thing today, they called me 5 times and when I told them I did not have their services and gave them my cell number they gave me the name and address of the home listed with my number. I yelled at them for this and let them know how horrible of a practice that it.

unsolicited calls to an unlisted cell phone # that I've head for 10 + years ... looks like Monitronics has their employees posting on these # report sites to make themselves look legit...never deal with a business that feels the need to cold call cell phones to generate customers

Voicemail stated they received a virtual alarm for a Tequita Cobbins (spelling?) residence and since they couldn't confirm emergency they have dispatched police. Caller stated that my number is listed as an emergency contact. I know no such person. I should call if I have questions. Well, if I really was an emergency contact, you had received a virtual alarm, and have dispatched police, wouldn't you want me to call back? This is bogus. I don't answer the call if I don't know the number.

It must be horrable to think that Monotronics is out there conspiring on how to make your life so bad.. I'm pretty sure your not that important, but assuming you are, I'm sure you are just mistaken.. Iv been with Monotronics when it was pinnacle and they have been nothing but great to work with. So just ask them why they are calling. And I'm sure they will answer.

The company has changed names 6 times and is now Montronics, which has changed again to Protection1,  I cancelled as well and have not paid them in a while and all of a sudden there was an odd charge in my account, not the usual amount, and it all started up again.  I am with another company who has actually kept their name since I signed on.  I took care of the bank as an unauthorized payment and signed a do not pay them form.  Now I am getting calls.  Was informed I owe them 675.00.  Hell will have to freeze over before I pay them anything

Received a call on my cell from this number at 7:21 am while walking to work in the snow in downtown Chicago.  Some idiot babbling.  My cell number has been mine for more than ten years and I never had an alarm system. Just another scammer in my opinion. .

Take it up with the person that had the phone number BEFORE you. Or do you think the phone company invented that number combination for just little old you.

Lots of apartments have alarm systems. I know of several that use to have them and then the complex was sold and they took in less than affluent renters and the equipment was stolen or removed. A no brainer there as to what happened. But, no, you don't have to live in a house to have an alarm system.

Oh how stupid this post is. Obviously in this day and age with people changing their numbers every few months, they have one that now belongs to you. Once you saw who it was you should have realized they had a wrong number. They are a legitimate company and they don't need to "trick" people into paying. Most of their accounts are paid by automatic withdrawals.  Grow some utters and get into this century.

Monitronics will call if the equipment reports a failure. They monitor the equipment. They don't install or make the equipment. Even if you cancel the service, you are only canceling their monitoring. Unfortunately, unless you remove the equipment, low batteries in it, tampering with it of  any kind will automatically cause them to call because the equipment is wired to them.  I've never had a problem with them. Obviously, you canceled your monitoring service but, you kept the equipment. Just because you quit paying an Internet provider doesn't mean the computer in your home isn't still there or that your email address doesn't still get spam email.

This call came in at 10:49 AM. All 800 calls are monitored: First off silence for a few seconds; then a hang up. You never know who these 800 number folks are, but hang ups, are especially annoying. I never answer 800 calls, as they are usually, if not always, scam artists who prey on the weak.

I don't take any phone call if its not local, received 8004479239 call, the person left message on my cell which I can listen what is about. I can not understand what is his name and  what Co. he is calling from. Now I knew it form security system co.  After two years with another Co. I have wrote a cancellation  letter a month before and call the Co. before the contract end date. The Co.said I have submitted the letter too late so they extend the service for another year without my signature and said it's legal. The Co. keep talking to me won't cancall the sevice . I  told them if they don't stop the service and taking the fee from my credit card. I will report the Co. to BBB. and tell on facebook. The Co. fineally cancelled the service, why as consumer we have to take abuse from the phone calls and not stop the services we're no longer needed.
All security co are the same. If you have home insurance that is good enough.

System installed in September, the very next day I noticed I had no internet...faulty DSL filter.I told the installer that now is a good time to check the system and to make sure all other systems he installs are in working order.8 weeks later my alarm is going off,6 beeps every 2 minutes. This is a low battery alarm. It happens every few hours.on December 23rd.I call on the 26th for the technician to come charge or replace the battery.Tech must re-install battery and codes this is something customer is unable to do.The appt is set for the 28th,the tech never shows-up and I don't get a call.I called 10 times over the next week trying to get the installers to respond. They don't answer and the voicemail is full.Monotronics does a two-way call to the tech who is to come on Friday....he doesnt show AGAIN.Finally comes on Saturday and says on Fridays he watches football and wont go on service calls.Monotronics hires shoddy subcontractors to install and service these OLD systems. My sensor was placed on a cabinet door that I cant open now,it has my electric panel inside. There are only two techs servicing the entire state.Good luck getting your system repaired in a timely fashion..BTW,an alarm going off several times every few hours causes lack of sleep and drives everyone, including the dog, insane!!!Will have a different monitoring company as soon as this contract is done!!! Monitor company is Maximum Security...booooo.

It is a legitimate alarm company. They called my phone because I'm an emergency contact on my mother's alarm system, however I don't answer out of area calls so I looked up their number and that is her security provider. So don't go around saying people are scamming if you don't even know what's a fact and what isn't.

I just got a call, but it was the alarm system from the place I work, I didn't answer the call because I didn't recognize the number, but they went to voice mail and that's how I found out it was for my place of employment, they said it was a "non-emergency call" so I just left it alone. I figured the higher-ups got the call as well and they will handle it.
